07.01.2022 Following on from my last story about buying electrical products online. How can consumers tell what items have been tested to meet Australian Safety standards before they buy. Look for this symbol. This shows that the products have been tested and comply when they have the RCM mark on them.

07.01.2022 It was a very busy end for 2018 for us and I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break as much as we did. I would like to share one of our major projects we did in in 2018. I'm sure everyone recognises the building in the photo. The Mt Pleasant BCC cinema upgraded all their lighting to LED lights inside and out, to improve their energy efficiency and to save on their power bill. The results at the cinema was a positive one all round.

05.01.2022 We received this news story from the Electrical Safety Office's newsletter. It tells about a Townsville woman who died by being electrocuted by a submersible pump installed in their backyard well. The two most important things to learn from this tragedy is that there was no safety switch installed in the home. This, in all probability could have saved the woman's life. I know we electricians repeat this often but safety switches really do save lives. The second lesson to ...learn is be careful what you buy online. This pump was purchased online from the Pump Factory Pty Ltd. This company purchased hundreds of these pumps from a Chinese manufacture and re-branded them, but the company did not make sure they met Australian Safety Standards before selling. The report said "These pumps were substandard quality and poorly designed, allowing internal wires to tangle, rip out of their connections and come into contact with the metal body of the pump."
