15.01.2022 Today's random job. Plumber did a really dodgy patch job on the ceiling in the garage when he repaired a leaking pipe. So who better to cut it out and replace the sheet then the electrician !?!

13.01.2022 Today's exciting job. 10 zone poultry farm alarm with GPRS link back to base monitoring and UHF pager backup notification. The system will also have text message notification via a Rotem communicator. So if there is a problem in a shed the manager will get a phone call, text message and a page. Also the GPRS link is monitored at 2 min intervals so if the monitoring control room looses contact with the alarm system for more then 4 min they will call the site manager to let them know. Considering the system is protecting about $500 000 worth of live stock it is worth going just a little overkill.

13.01.2022 When you get tried of repairing the gate sensor just fit steel posts infront of everything. Simple little fabrication job but should be effective.

08.01.2022 Got to love it when a plan comes together. I made up a jig for my trailer crane to remove this vent fan in a car park. Made the job a piece of cake.

08.01.2022 Alarm Systems - Plant and Equipment Monitoring Advanced Solutions produce the most user friendly and reliable monitored plant and equipment alarm systems available. We do this by automating the system with no input required by the equipment owner. The design is also well protected from lighting strikes, power surges and power failure. In addition to the 24 hour monitored service we provide, the system can be further improved with either a separate pager or SMS alert. The alar...m system is programmed in a way that removes the need to arm, disarm or reset the alarm at any point. It also means your equipment is always protected. Each piece of equipment can only be bypassed with the use of a manual bypass key. If a piece of equipment is bypassed the corresponding selector switch will not illuminate so it can easily be seen. The selector switch for each zone will only illuminate if the zone is armed and there is no fault with the equipment. A key switch is used to disable the bypass option to remove the risk of a zone being bypassed by mistake as well as protection from tampering. A typical alarm activation will involve the following steps. 1. A fault will occur and the piece of equipment will alarm. 2. The monitored alarm system will receive the alarm and after an adjustable time delay will go into an alarmed state. 3. The siren and strobe will activate and the alarm system will notify the monitoring company. Both the siren and strobe run times are adjustable. 4. The monitoring company will ring the person on their contact list. Up to 3 contacts are standard. 5. The contact person with check the piece of equipment and resolve the problem. 6. Once the problem is resolved and the equipment alarm output is reset the monitored alarm system will automatically restore and notify the monitoring company. There is no need for the contact person to disarm the system prior to checking the equipment or to rearm the system after the alarm is resolved. It is all automated. If the piece of equipment is taken out of service simply use the key switch to enable bypass and bypass the piece of equipment. GPRS and Polling Our alarm systems use a 3G GPRS link to the alarm company not a land line. This removes the risk of the land line being damaged, the phones being down or any number of other problems that can affect a land line. The GPRS unit has two sim cards and uses both Telstra and Optus to ensure a reliable link. In addition to the dual sim cards the GPRS is also set up on a 120 second polling plan. This means that every two minutes the monitoring company confirms that it has a link with the GPRS and that the GPRS is connected to a active alarm system.

07.01.2022 Something a bit different. 40ft container with 5 x 3000L tanks for oils and coolant with pneumatic pumps to supply a big workshop in a mine somewhere.

01.01.2022 This is why you need backups for the backups. Faulty oil pressure switch prevents a otherwise good generator from starting. Also had a call out to a job where the motor drive change over failed during a generator service and test. Sometimes gear just fails.

01.01.2022 New control panel ready for install tomorrow.
