23.01.2022 AEAV has had meetings with paramedics in central Victoria over recent weeks to discuss issues surrounding the use of Ambulance Community Officers (ACOs) to fill paramedic shifts at 24 hr branches. During the meetings paramedics raised concerns related to the increased dependence of AV to use ACOs and the lack of controls in place to protect the health and safety of ACOs and paramedics. The full extent of the issue is evidenced by the fact that almost 30 individual paramedics have attended and spoken up. Read more at www.aeavic.org.au/central_victorian_paramedics_speak_up

21.01.2022 Finally, Ambulance Victoria acknowledges the need for an independent review into workplace bullying & harassment! AEAV welcomes the VEOHRC review. Many AEAV Members have been facing a toxic workplace culture for too long without adequate investigation on AV's part. Paramedics deserve a review into sexual discrimination as well as the broader scope of systemic, toxic culture that runs across AV, particularly in management. 11.01.2022 Potential Covid Safe impact on health workers Yesterday AEAV raised concerns with Ambulance Victoria regarding the recently released COVID Safe app and the potential impact on paramedics and other health care workers. One concern is that the app does not take into account the fact that you may have been wearing full PPE. The app does not upload location information and you will not be provided with the name of the COVID-19 source, so health care workers may be unable to tell ...whether the close contact was whilst they were wearing full PPE. 04.01.2022 VAU’s Danny Hill claimed that he won Fleet Maintenance Officers (FMOs) pay parity with Logistic Support Officers (LSOs) through EB negotiations. His claim has angered FMOs, because they won pay parity prior to the EB, with no help from Danny at all. Watch as FMOs set the record straight at a recent AEAV Zoom meeting. 02.01.2022 What is Ambulance Victoria hiding? On 10 November 2020, the AEAV wrote to the PCU requesting information and statistics about their handling of discrimination and bullying complaints. This information included questions like ‘How many sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying complaints received by the PCU were referred back to the regions for regional management to deal with?’... Unsurprisingly, the PCU never responded or even acknowledged our request. Last Wednesday, the AEAV lodged a freedom of information request with the PCU to get this information from them legally. We will keep you updated on the FOI. AV employees have a right to this information as it directly relations to your complaints and how they are handled. https://www.aeavic.org.au/foi_request_bullying_and_harassme
