25.01.2022 AEE post event update: P1 is to de-service all clothing & equipment stores. Event timings and finisher's patch photos to be released tomorrow. The route photographer (Hannalise Paris) who captured the mountain action will also be uploading images in due course. Following paper work assessment and investigation we'd like to offer our congratulations to Leanne Doroszuk who today learned that she is the Fan Dance Clean Fatigue Main Field champion. One of the AEE DS will be makin...g a visit to her police station to make a personal prize presentation. Standby for further announcements. WDW
20.01.2022 Utrinque Paratus? Are you Ready for Anything The Fan Dance is an essential test undertaken by the elite Pathfinder Platoon and the SAS. This great test now unleashed on Queensland. 9th September 2017 Who Dares Wins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvile3oxAjM... www.fandance.com.au
20.01.2022 One of our DS team on a speed session: 8km pack march with 18kg followed by a swim. Great to see so many of your training sessions up on the AEE & associated group pages, but you need to start upping your game. As a minimum you should have all cracked out at least two 20 km pack marches or light weight scale runs. Hill reps are essential, with trail/running shoe/trainers and also with pack and boots. Focus on endurance and speed. Burpees, gym work and short runs just won't cu...t the mustard on race day. The shortest sessions should be at least 10km. Endurance sessions are absolutely essential. The Fan Dance sounds fairly innocuous and tame in name but should not be underestimated. This is a full scale simulation of an SAS test and not an attendance event. To earn that patch and walk away with one you'll have to earn it. You have to train like you've never trained before and arrive physically and mentally ready to give the march your absolute best. The elevation and weight carrying requirements are savage game changers and two elements that have never been combined and delivered before in the Australian endurance events industry. The route is lined with a series of RV checkpoints which are far more than just a matter of logging in and going on your way. The clock is ticking and your physical and mental suitability to continue will be assessed thoroughly by the Directing Staff. Plenty of announcements incoming
19.01.2022 Today was the end date for categroy changes from Load Bearing to Clean Fatigue and vice versa. Mountain log sheets and registration pages have gone to print. A few of you have sneaked in and edited the spreadsheet to confirm attendance after the established deadline of 30th August. This means your post march hog roast and tee shirt are no longer. First piece of advice we gave everyone: Admin is not a place in China. The Fan Dance is not a fun run where you can crack on with y...our own routine. Be on top of your drills and be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be. Don't give the DS any stories as they're not interested and simply won't entertain them. The team are past masters at this game and have heard every excuse in the book. See you at the FOB for rego, bergen weigh in/kit check,a heavy duty meal and cold drinks followed by a talk. Then it's action stations for Ozzy's ball tearer and time to earn that patch. Feel free to use this banner on your pages Who Dares Wins The DS
19.01.2022 Results and timings soon to be published. These have deliberately been delayed so that you can reflect upon and absorb the memories of your experience rather than concern yourself with placings and who you did and didn't beat. Nobody ever beat or won Selection! The team are working hard on the SEAL and 20 Clicker tests as well as their respective patches. Standby

15.01.2022 The inaugural Fan Dance Australia is now approaching our defined bush/mountain safety limit and registration will soon close. The Selection Series is alive and will soon be kicking hard and fast. The opening event in the series will be the infamous Fan Dance taken from the British SAS Selection course, the world's oldest and original Special Forces test. The DS team are still chewing over the next test in the series, but looking like a fight between the Australian SAS 20 Clic...ker and the Delta 18 ( US SF). This bottle of rare SAS 75th anniversary whiskey displays a message which the AEE team wish to convey to those who've showed the guts to make themselves vulnerable and go a little further in pursuit of something out of the ordinary. See you at the FOB Who Dares Wins The DS
12.01.2022 Fan Dance policy on shorts: Load Bearing Fan Dancers can wear shorts but they must be fit for purpose. The acceptable types of shorts are, cut off military trousers (Image 2) or trekking specific shorts (image 3), or trekking trousers that zip on/off and convert to shorts. Heavy duty cargo type shorts (image 4) are not fit for purpose and should not be worn. Sports/running shorts are not acceptable either. We don't want the Fan Dance looking like a soccer match. Our preferen...ce however is that all Load Bearers wear trousers that cover the entire leg Clean Fatigue runners may wear running shorts and are not confined to the instructions as detailed above. 11.01.2022 Finisher's patch presentation and prize giving ceremony. Congratulations and DS respect to all who had the courage to make it to the start line and recognition of a nails performance by all who made the FRV and earned that coveted patch by marching such hard yards.
10.01.2022 FAN DANCE FORWARD OPERATING BASE SPREADSHEET Please check your emails and spam files and be advised: If you haven't completed the spreadsheet you won't be getting a Fan Dance tee shirt. Plenty of sleeping space at the FOB available, in close proximity to the Base Camp and march start line. Admin is a place in China, or the 7 Ps. Your choice!
10.01.2022 There was no song and dance or grand parade at the most intimate ceremony in the military world. And at the end of SAS Selection our DS were simply presented with a sandy coloured beret with a cloth winged dagger patch, featuring the motto WHO DARES WINS. We were then told to remember, it's harder to keep than it is to earn and then marched out the office following a firm handshake. It was one of the proudest moments in our lives. AEE Intl proudly present the Fan Dance Austr...alia inaugural edition cloth patch. No medals, just a piece of fabric, steeped in history and meaning, each part telling its own unique and personal story. This is what you will walk away with at the least conspicuous finish line in the world of endurance events along with a firm handshake from one of our former SAS/SBS Directing Staff. All Fan Dancers will soon receive a personal email with the history and backstory to this special patch. For the first time in Australia an SAS Selection standard test will be delivered and the shape of endurance events will shift dramatically from here on. These are the humble beginnings of the unrelenting pursuit of excellence. www.fandance.com.au See more
08.01.2022 If the hat fits wear it.. We've always maintained that your greatest challenge is getting to the start line and already that looks to be defeating a sizeable chunk of the Fan Dance field. There's some solid and convincing reasons for withdrawal out there but there's others that clearly fall into the field of excuse making owed to not having done the required training and an extension of that; lack of backbone. Multiple emails, text messages and phone calls have been sent out... to those missing in action requesting that you fill in the spreadsheet, still to be met with no response but finding time and energy to post on social media. Tomorrow is the deadline after which you'll get no tee shirt or hog roast as we hit our order deadline In a further 4 days our mountain safety log sheets go to print, which means you are no longer a part of the inaugural Fan Dance Australia. Excuses will always be there for you in life, opportunities won't. The Fan Dance is a Green On and soon to be unleashed. See more
