25.01.2022 19 days old Still feeding happily off Mum, no supplementing has been needed. Growing like weeds, getting active and getting very vocal :)

25.01.2022 We are big kids now. Our dog Mum Quinn has done a fabulous job with us but it is time for us to stand on our 4 feet and learn to be independent. We love our tucker and will now be fed more often by our human Mum and now we can have toys as our dog Mum thought they were "dangerous" and would take them of us :( Or maybe she just wanted them for herself??? And we can have the Lime Green and Blue dry bed now too - our dog Mum must not have liked the colour as she would screw it u...p in a ball which made it very uncomfortable for us every time human Mum put it in our box. We are such clever kids that we dragged those toys into the box ourselves. Human Mum had put them all on the mats. We are not sure about our Puppy Play Gym - it has different sounds - but we will keep exploring it

24.01.2022 Differences between a breeder, a puppy producer and dog vendor. By Peggy Adamson - Damasyn Dobermans An honest breeder is like a head of family. He feels responsible towards the breed, the dogs he breeds, the dogs he wants to breed, and even the people who have dogs for his parenting. He waste his time and money on a variety of issues he considers are of the best interest to the Raza. It's awareness of responsibility, combined with the sense of continuity, that makes the diff...erence between a true breeder and a puppy producer. The breeder is an artist, motivated by perfection led to create. Puppy producers and dog vendors are motivated by the desire to make money. The latter show their true face selling puppies as merchandise on a counter to anyone who can pay their price. The breeder is the link between the past and the future. Because you are aware that the buyer today may be tomorrow's breeder, he does his best to educate the people who come to buy their dogs and to instill in them the ideals and values upon which he built his reputation. How lucky is the rookie buyer who acquires his first dog with an honest breeder. While puppy producers can sell whole litters to dog sellers, the breeder insists on direct contacts with which they will buy their dog and sells only after having a careful idea from the potential buyer to ensure the mutual convenience of both dog and buyer .. Although not always fully appreciated until after buying the dog, this idea obtained by the breeder is the greatest protection a dog buyer can have. Puppy producer and dog vendor are often great vendors. They never ask questions, their only concern is selling dogs and getting them off as soon as possible to avoid spending and work. Their interest ends when the sale is made. A breeder's attitude is very different. Although the cost of properly maintaining your dogs causes you sleepless nights and worries, you will never let a single puppy or old dog go to a house that is not the same or better than the one he gives you. Even when the dog is sold, the breeder's aid and advice does not end but continues through the dog's life, a responsibility joyfully accepted by him without expecting any kind of reward. * Mrs Peggy Adamson was perhaps the most influential breeder and judge of the Doberman. Mrs. Adamson died at age 88 in 1996 from a car accident in the U.S.

24.01.2022 Well said! I dont want a show dog, I just want a pet. This is one of the most pervasive sentiments that puppy buyers, especially families, express when they're looking for a dog. What they really mean, of course, is that they don't want a show BREEDER don't want to pay the high price they think show breeders charge, don't want to go through the often-invasive interview process, and think that they're getting a better deal or a real bargain because they can get a Doberm...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Amendment to the Dog Act ( Stop Puppy Farming Bill) here in Western Australia. Is the TRUTH too much to ask for from both media and politicians. Im so over being manipulated by them both. TRUTH, the Bill is flawed and incongruous. You cannot support unregulated backyard breeding whilst stating you want to reduce numbers of abandoned dogs in shelters due to an oversupply of dogs. This Bill needs some serious changes to make a positive impact on the welfare of dogs in this Sta...te. TRUTH, the Opposition are not against the Bill. They want to put through a Bill that will work and not one that creates more problems than it solves. This Bill is onerous for local government to implement and expensive for the dog owning community to comply with. TRUTH, the Bill proposes that anyone who wants to keep a non sterilised dog must register as a breeder. Yes you read it correctly, if your dog is not sterilised you must register as a breeder. In parliament yesterday Minister Templeman described this process of Breeder Approval as an easy one and no one who wants to breed dogs should be concerned by it. There is no regulation within the Bill that requires these new breeders to have any prior education, training or experience. How does making it easier to produce puppies reduce the number of unwanted unhealthy dogs in this State? How does giving breeder approvals to those inexperienced in whelping or raising puppies, genetics, animal husbandry or new owner selection, improve the quality of the puppies or their long term health and ownership outcomes? Sure the Centralised Data Base might help you track down these so called breeders, but wouldnt it be better to stop it before it happens? It is called the Stop Puppy Farming Bill after all isnt it? TRUTH, Dogs West breeders and others Australia wide have serious concerns about this Bill. Whilst they have a strict code of ethics to comply with to ensure the protection of the animals in their care, the same cannot be said for the puppies/ dogs in the care of the new backyard breeders this Bill is supporting. TRUTH, unless you want to become a breeder, sterilisation is now mandatory for all dogs housed in Western Australia. Adults are no longer considered capable of deciding what is best for their own dogs in this State. TRUTH, it it will be more expensive to own a dog. Registration of dogs will have to increase as Local governments pass on the costs of policing all these new backyard breeders and inputting registrations onto the new central data base. If you seriously support improving welfare outcomes for dogs in this State, want to reduce the number of dogs that get abandoned to shelters, want better bred dogs available to purchase, demand better from this Bill.

14.01.2022 DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BILL IN ITS CURRENT FORM! Before any of my friends share the McGowan post in support about The banning puppy farming bill - please note it's... poorly written, will actually NOT stop puppy farming at all, will give more legitimacy to those who don't do the right thing when breeding dogs, and actually makes it incredibly hard for ethical breeders who uphold the DOGSWEST/ANKC Code of ethics and do the appropriate testing to continue. RESEARCH IT! This below, although written by someone else, explains all my exact sentiments: Stop Puppy Farming! Sounds great doesn't it. Unfortunately the bill being debated in parliament isn't nearly as appealing as it's headline. Many comment have been deleted off many Labor representatives pages, so I copied it to share here for those of you who don't live and breathe dogs, and may not understand why I cannot support this bill. Ironically, one of the government representatives supporting this bill has dogs from... wait for it... a pet shop! I am more than happy to have a detailed discussion if anyone is interested in further information. ... I hate puppy farming as much as everyone else, however I don't believe this bill is going to have the effect everyone hopes for. Firstly, it is the local council who decides if you can breed or not. There is no stipulation for a maximum number of litters, you can put that poor little dog through it every time she goes in season if you want. There is no stipulation that breeding dogs have any sort of health testing. Poor joints, eye conditions, deafness, anxiety, the list of inherited conditions that can be exacerbated by poor breeding is a mile long. There is no necessity for any sort of education about how to be a responsible breeder, how to look after a pregnant dog, housing conditions, whelping conditions, basically any back yard breeder, or in fact puppy farmer, can now be granted approval to keep on with their terrible practices that we all want to stop. Nothing in here says you can't keep your breeding dogs in a cage with a cold concrete floor, out in your back yard with a water bowl, a daily dish of biscuits and not much else. Just leave it in there until it's ready to crank out another litter. {And we are giving these people a licence that they NEVER have to renew!!!} Greyhounds breeders are exempt. ?? Registered breeders with our national peak body, ANKC, are not exempt. Many of these breeders breed infrequent litters, from the best breeding animals, conduct a huge amount of health testing to ensure they only breed sound healthy dogs in mind and body, raise pups in their homes, not a kennel, and comply with so many regulations. Responsible breeders know their breeds, and are selective in choosing their pups homes. They vet potential families, educate them, and stay connected to assist when ever necessary. It seems crazy that many of these people will no longer be able to continue this craft because their local council can say no. Multiple councils have already been contacted and confirmed they will say no. Will pet shops be trained in managing some of the challenges rescue dogs present with? Who is going to check on them and make sure they keep doing the right thing? Will these people be trained in canine behaviour (it's not an easy qualification to obtain, a few years of study). The thought of anxious rescue dogs in a glass cage in a busy retail outlet hurts my heart. Who is going to police all of this? Our local councils have already said they don't have the time, the knowledge or the man power. Puppy farmers who can't get around this will just hide their despicable behavior like they always have. I understand people are passionate about this topic, but the devil is in the detail. I am truly grateful that people are trying to end puppy farming - it has to stop, but I just don't think this bill is going to work, and it's going to do a lot of harm along the way."

14.01.2022 Communication is key :) If a breeder emails you with information or updates on a litter, have the common courtesy to at least reply with a "got it" or hit the read receipt option. If you don't have the time to do that, then the breeder may think that you might not have the time for a puppy ;)

13.01.2022 7 days old and thriving Cleanest babies on the planet

13.01.2022 Babies are 12 days old and thriving :) No supplementing needed here - Quinn is doing a terrific job feeding all 13 of them :) Really looking forward to watching them continue to develop and grow :)

12.01.2022 My purchase of a well bred purebred did not sentence another dog to death. My purchase of a well bred purebred did not cause an increase in the number of dogs in shelter. Me wanting a dog with a predictable temperament from healthy lineage did not cause another dog to not get adopted.... My meticulous research and support of only the most responsible of breeders is not the problem. It is not what you should be mad at. It is not what you should be pushing the blame onto. I am not the one who brought these dogs into the world irresponsibly and left them in a shelter. Responsible breeders are not the ones who put dogs into shelters either. It is my home, my life, and my choice of what kind of dog to bring into it. Maybe I needed a working dog, a sport dog, or simply a companion puppy to raise of a breed I enjoy. No matter the reason, my choice to support a reputable breeder did not send a shelter dog to its death. A breeder who health tests, temperament tests, studies pedigrees, proves a dog worthy of being bred, and only breeds when doing so is of benefit to the breed is not contributing to the number of homeless dogs. The number of homeless dogs in the world is a problem, but it is not a problem exacerbated by reputable breeders and those who purchase from them. Your neighbor down the street who refuses to contain his unaltered dogs IS contributing to the problem. Your friend who impulse bought a dog at the pet shop IS contributing to the problem. That guy on Craigslist, Gumtree and The Trading Post that is pumping out the trendiest designer mix as fast as he can IS contributing to the problem. Your relative who just HAS to let their dog have one litter so she can experience motherhood or because she’s just so sweet IS contributing to the problem. Your old high school classmate who bought a high energy working breed without taking the time to research its needs and realize it was not a good fit for their household ahead of time IS contributing to the problem. A reputable breeder offers their lifelong support. A reputable breeder would never allow their dogs to end up in a shelter to begin with. A reputable breeder makes it a contractual obligation to return dogs they have produced back to them should you find yourself unable of keeping it. It is understandable to be angry about the number of homeless dogs in the world, but if you take a deeper look, you will find your anger is misplaced. If you take a deeper look, you will find reputable breeders and those of us who purchase from them are just as angry, we are just pointing fingers at the right causes. *Shared*

11.01.2022 I cannot stress this enough

Two fly out on Friday, Purple collar girl to Adelaide and Yellow collar boy to Melbourne and Yellow collar girl is going on a drive to Katanning. :) I will miss them. This litter has been a joy to raise :) All 13 of them

07.01.2022 So this happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. Jack and Harper are now the proud parents of 5 Black dogs, 1 Red dog, 2 Black bitches and 3 Red bitches. At present, all are spoken for.

07.01.2022 Buyer beware!! What ANKC (recognised worldwide) Certificates of Registration look like are the top 2. These are the equivalent to a birth certificate. The others are from the "mickey mouse" unrecognised registeries. If your breeder cannot supply either of the top 2 (most sold as pets have the Orange certificate), then you do not know and cannot prove that your Dobermann is actually a purebred and it is certainly not a pedigreed dog!

04.01.2022 HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY? Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly states: I can buy a cheaper pup elsewhere. I also address you; the person who doesnt care about papers because I want just a pet. No dog is just a pet....Continue reading
