23.01.2022 Saturday saw both grades take wins against Woodside in our T20 matches. B grade travelled to Woodside and was sent into the field after losing the toss. Opener ...Jack Richardson was up and about early and snatching a wicket on the first ball of the second over. Despite some missed opportunities in the field, Woodside was held to a total of 9/112 at the end of their 20 overs with Nick Schubert and Henry Thomas claiming three wickets apiece. Opening batsmen Henry Thomas (27) and Jamarley Daley (74*) then formed a strong opening partnership and together with the efforts of Brodie Mortensen (8*) were able to chase down the total, finishing on 1/117. C grade hosted Woodside at Frilly park which saw skipper Mitchell Woolfitt lose the toss and sent in to open the batting alongside Lewis McCabe. Woolfitt went on to post 42 runs before being dismissed. Ryan Harvey (42*) and Lukey Birthisel saw the Frillnecks finish on 3/147 at the end of their 20 overs. Some tidy bowling from openers Sean Goodes and Cale Barnett set the tone early to restrict the opposition-run rate and keep the hopes of a win alive. Two wickets from Andy Jackson and a wicket each for Ryan Harvey and Mike Klein-Boonschate saw Woodside finish on 4/117 sealing another win for the Frillies. #frillnecks #upthenecks #itscricketseason #cricket

23.01.2022 The second round of games this season had something for everyone.. The A2’s was called off early due to the poor weather on Friday and Saturday morning. The tur...f pitch at Ashbourne just wasn’t able to cope. The benefit was that our other sides were now able to field 11 players each. The B Grade clinched a win on the last ball in their T20 vs. Callington. Callington 5/124 (M Coad 4/25 L Schack 1/12) defeated by Macclesfield 9/125 (D Caddle 55* R Voogt 22) The C Grade travelled to EFS at Strathalbyn to meet Langhorne Creek in another T20. L/Creek 3/199 (R Biloo 1/27 R Chapman 1/34 O Llewellyn 1/43) defeated Macclesfield 8/137 (J Llewellyn 46 C Erbsland 22 C Truran 17) Back to normal length games this coming Saturday, where the C Grade will continue to push for their first win.

23.01.2022 Despite Inclement weather in the morning, games went ahead in both grades on Saturday. The B grade travelled to Strathalbyn and went in to bat first. Skipper Ja...marley Daley had a field day posting 119 runs, which along with contributions from Blake Thomas (19), Col Birt (21), Henry Thomas (20*) and Naite Hider (16) saw Finniss post 234 runs from their 40 overs. The Frillnecks kept the pressure on with impressive bowling from Jack Richardson and Nick Schubert seeing them both take 3 wickets, while Cale Barnett and Max Thomas also chipped in with a wicket apiece which combined with two run outs saw Strath bowled out for 172 runs. The C grade hosted Langhorne Creek at home and after losing the toss were sent into the field. Pressure in the field, and tidy bowling from openers Will Werrey and Sean Goodes kept the total low, when a change to the bowling brought about the breakthrough. Stewart Pratt dismissed two creek batsmen on two successive bowls to push momentum in favour of the Frillnecks. Pratt would go on to claim one more scalp, while Andy Jackson took two wickets, along with Jared Thomas and Michael Klein-Boonschate who also contributed with a wicket each. A Sean Goodes run out then saw Creek bowled out for 88 runs. The Frillnecks then began their chase, after starting well in the first few overs of his innings Andy Jackson was dismissed for 11 runs. Lewis McCabe came in to replace Jackson and his contribution of 31* along with skipper and opener Mitchell Woolfitt who posted 36* which saw the C’s chase down the total set for them, sealing a second win for the Finniss Frillnecks. #cricket #frillnecks

18.01.2022 The Frillnecks returned to play after the holiday break with strong numbers available to fill both grades. No home games saw both teams on the road with Cs taki...ng on Wistow at Mt Barker HS and Bs travelling to Hahndorf. C grade elected to bat first after winning the toss but runs did not come easily. Our batters struggled to find form and defend wickets only managing a total of 94 with VC Cale Barnett top scoring on 24. Wistow continued to dominate with the bat and won the match with seven wickets still in hand after seventeen overs. It was a different sight all together at Hahndorf. Our bowlers kept Hahndorf's score low from the very beginning and what a day it was for Caleb Desmet who ended his eight overs with 4/16. It was great to see Brodie Mortensen come out from behind the stumps to add a wicket to his two catches of the day while Jack Richardson added another two wickets to his growing season tally. Strong defensive batting from Hahndorf saw them get to the last over with 9/70. Our openers made quick work chasing down the runs after a near run out on the first ball. A speedy recovery saw Blake Thomas achieving his 1000th run for the club while Skipper Daley hit boundary after boundary with one six calling for a new ball to continue play. Jamarley ended the day on 57 not out in the seventh over calling for an early day.

17.01.2022 It’s tea at kookaburra homes oval. The Burras making 6/190 of the alloted 40 overs. Chris Pato top scoring with 89 and K. Gupta with a cameo 27. Can the cobras withstand the heat from the dynamic pace duo of Caleb Walker and Hayden Lane. Stay tuned

17.01.2022 MEYER SHIELD - DAY 2 UPDATE A&EHCA are on track to secure a place in the Meyer Shield final after posting 4/294 against Kangaroo Island at Meadows Oval. Skipper Shaun Tait led the charge with a swashbuckling 120 not out from just 66 balls which included 10 sixes and 7 fours. Other strong performers came from opening batsmen Mitch Weeks (96) and Greg Hassold (51). ... The Kangaroo Island run chase will commence soon. Stay tuned for further updates.

16.01.2022 Both grades were in action once again this week with the B’s hosting Nairne at home with Skipper Jamarley Daley handing the new ball to openers Caleb Desmet and... Jack Richardson with the former bowling 5 maidens to finish with figures of 2/14 of his 8 overs to be followed up by a shared bowling effort in which most bowlers chipped in with a wicket, while Max and Henry Thomas both claimed 2 as Nairne were bowled out for 158 runs. Following the change of innings, Daley went out to the crease with fellow opener Col Birt and the two of them put on a partnership worth 74 runs before the wickets began to fall as Daley departed for 51 with birt shortly following for 17. While the wickets were falling Brodie Mortensen contributed a handy 20 runs and Andy Jackson put on 14 runs before departing the crease. Unfortunately the B’s couldn’t put together another partnership as they were bowled out for 128 runs leaving them short of the 159 required. The C grade made the trip to Nairne and went into bat first with skipper Mitch Woolfitt putting on 19 runs while Jake Beerenfels posted a very impressive 74 runs along with 22 runs from Luke Birthisel while Ryan Harvey and Sean Goodes contributed 11 and 12 runs respectively as Finniss were bowled out for 155 runs. Having set a total to defend, the C’s took to the field but were unable to defend their 155 runs despite Sean Goodes, Jared Thomas and Jake Beerenfels all claiming a wicket Nairne chased down the total in just under 26 overs.

15.01.2022 A&EHCA - Thursday Update 29/10 - https://mailchi.mp/5277fb504704/aehca-thursday-update-2910

14.01.2022 A2 Report: The Hammy report The A2 lads had Lobethal on our own stomping ground. Losing the toss we were sent into bowl. Have to give it to the boys, our bowli...ng and fielding was pretty damn good, bowling out lobethal for 95, Matt Sowden with some great fielding leaving the batsman in sniffles as well as Tom Watkins taking 2/13 off 7, Ryan Williams taking 3/11 off 6.3 and Jacob Sadler taking 2/8 off 6, it was like they had a candle under them, on an absolute heater, putting on a show for the lobethal boys on the hill which I’m pretty sure was there for Jacky May’s immaculate chat in the field. Coming into bat, Bayden and Trai Willis getting us to a quick start and looked like they were going to finish the game off but soon after we had a batting collapse getting bowled out for 89, no special talent from lobethals blowing attack but they put enough good balls in the right areas which apparently took wickets, never the less the boys will use this loss as a turning point to work hard in the nets. Jack May has nominated Ryan Williams for the joke next time we playing See more

14.01.2022 Won’t be long before we have another turf oval to play on!

14.01.2022 U/14’s Otto’s Bakery Player of the Week Catch-Up; Bailey Swain, a great improver this year with 2 strong performances, 2/13 with the ball vs Lobethal/Birdwood a...s we drove for a win, and Bailey showed courage to dig in hard with the bat in to last through a tough period in our loss to Woodside last round. Billie Goedecke, a popular member of the team Billie tries hard, like Bailey, Billie showed courage and determination with the bat vs Woodside and also went onto to take his first wicket that game. Liam Dunn an U/12 playing up has been a very welcome add to the team in weeks we are short, Liam took 1/18 from 5 overs vs Woodside stemming some aggressive batting. Liam Murphy, another great improver coming up from the U/12’s this year, Liam has worked really hard on his game. One of the most rewarding elements of coaching is when a kid listens to your advice and applies it, Liam user to be stuck on the crease with his footwork but on Saturday came out and lasted a long period at a difficult time with most notably his front foot pushing forward to the line of the ball and his bat coming through straight in the V. Well done boys, and thanks once more to Otto’s and all our sponsors.

14.01.2022 Great to see another amazing performance with the bat by Woodside Cricket Club's Tanner King in the U/16 Statewide Carnival today. He combined with Nairne Cricket Club's Zac Llewellyn for a 125 run opening stand. Tanner was unbeaten on 154 from just 84 balls when he was retired, providing an opportunity for his team mates to continue to pile on the runs.

14.01.2022 PROGRAMMING CHANGES This morning Cricket Australia announced the revised dates of the upcoming test series between Australia and India. Originally, the Adelaide test match was scheduled to be played from 11-15 December, however this has been moved back a week and will now be played from 17-21 December. ... Prior to the 2020/2021 season, the A&EHCA delegates voted to have no senior grade matches scheduled on the weekend of the Adelaide test to allow players and club volunteers to attend the test cricket. Given this morning's announcement, we will be amending the program so that the Round 10 senior grade matches will be moved from Saturday 19 December to Saturday 12 December. Junior grade programs will not be affected. If this change causes any issues for your club, particularly as it relates to ground availability, please let Seb Goldsmith know ASAP. Also, yesterday Mt Barker Cricket Club advised that they've been forced to withdraw their C Grade team due to lower than expected player numbers. As a result, we will be updating the C Grade program so that Mt Barker will be replaced with a bye. We expect to have the revised programs updated on MyCricket in the next couple of days.

13.01.2022 Saturday 9th January 2021 Under 14 Hahndorf v’s Strath/Langhorne Creek.

13.01.2022 THE WEEK THAT WAS! Safe to say it was a tough week for the Miners this week! U12s had a hard game, going down to Hahndorf friday night. Ezra again did will ...with the bat, as did Clint. Archie finished on 1/9 off of his bowling and Ruby also had a great effort with the ball! U14s started their 2 dayer against Mt Barker will the bat, finishing on 140. Tyler Clark again had a good day with the bat top scoring on 39. We welcomed Jayden Stewart to the club who made a handy 33 off 23. Jamie and Liam partnered for 16 runs and Alistair ensured we stayed in the middle for a little longer. Defendable total for next week! C grade were defeated by Wistow at home. Great effort from Liam Fitz as stand in skipper. Highlights from this game were Will and Jamo's 70 run 8th wicket partnership and some unplayable very sharp bowling from David Kettlestring. Having a full squad there at the start of the game might help us over the line next week! B grade recorded their first loss for the season at Finniss. It was great to see youngster Jaxen Perry line up in our team this week and even more awesome that he got a wicket! M Kennedy finished with 4/44 off of his 8, H.Pocock 3/31 off of his 8 and D.Yeates contributed another 2 with the ball this week. H.Pocock gets the all rounder award this week also top scoring with the bat. Time to regroup and get back out there next week and show them how its done..... Go Miners!!

12.01.2022 DARYL HARPER TO UMPIRE A&EHCA MATCH Former test umpire Daryl Harper will come out of retirement to officiate the T20 match between Strathalbyn Stallions Cricket Club and Langhorne Creek Cricket Club at Strathalbyn Oval this Thursday night. Harper, a veteran umpire of 95 test matches, officiated his final test match in Jamaica in 2011 when the West Indies hosted India. ... Since then he has continued his involvement with cricket as a match referee for domestic matches. His interest in A&EHCA cricket began through a conversation with Langhorne Creek cricketer Ben Warren a number of years ago. Harper is a passionate Redlegs fan and got to know Warren during the time that he was involved at Norwood as a player and a coach. Since then, the pair have been in regular contact to discuss their shared interest in cricket which eventually led to Warren discussing the possibility of coming out to umpire an A&EHCA match. Harper will partner with A&EHCA umpire Josh Pegler to officiate Thursday night's T20 clash.

12.01.2022 MEYER SHIELD FINAL UPDATE A&EHCA have just been bowled out for 110 in today's Meyer Shield final against Hills at Meadows Oval. 04.01.2022 Great work Buckets!

03.01.2022 THE WEEKS THAT WERE...... (since there's been a few between games) So COVID obviously dealt us the first blow with the fact we haven't been able to play for a... few weeks but it's great to see everyone back out there enjoying the sport they love!! Blow number 2 came in the form of our club being broken into. It's devastating to have this happen when we work so hard to get grants for equipment and so on. We are truly grateful to the other clubs in Echunga and the league that have offered us support and assistance, please keep your ear to the ground and if you hear anything pass it on to the Mt Barker Police station. So back to the games..... Friday night saw our U12s with a win against Mt Barker. Wickets went to H. Caust, E. Doble and B. Crosby, awesome effort guys!! Doble and Crosby also shared in some runs as did R. Kettlestring, great to see all the kids out there giving it a good crack! The Under 14s resulted in a washout on Saturday morning with the strange "summer" weather we are having. Great effort from J. Perry who retired on 25 and J. Steward who made 23 before we had to call it quits, exciting things to come when we actually get to play a full game!! Pleasing for the C Grade to get back into the winners circle this week D. Kettlestring was again strong with the bat and both K.Biersteker and A. Walton starred with the ball each finishing with 3 wickets a piece. Special thanks to the "ring ins" that made their way back to us at Echunga and took to the field so we could have a game this week. B Grade had a positive game against Maccy, we finished on 6/226 and we had them 8/215 at close of innings. M. Lambourn had a day out with the bat on 116, great knock! The captain took lead with the ball and finished with 4/28 off 7 including 2 maidens and T. Smith 3/23 off his 8. Awesome work, go you Miners!!

Another won toss and we sent them in to bat. A slow outfield resulted in us only giving away one boundary for the day. Big Fernando Millard got us off to a great start. T Bedding on debut was lightening, also claiming two catches. But the bowling was dominated by our young guns this week, O Sparrow 1/10, H Davey 0/7, and J Lucas picking up 2/10 unlucky to not get his 3rd. C Downey finishing off with 2/9 at the death. Again the slow outfield played its part, with us only finding the boundary 3 times, twice by young K Willis (scottys offspring keeping our club afloat). With some good running and a well played innings by our skipper J Walker we made the runs with 8 overs to spare. Although every batter can expect a fine for Extras being our top scorer with 29. 01.01.2022 A2 Wrap Up On Saturday, The A2s hosted Nairne at Tiger Park. The Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first in perfect cricket conditions. Jordan Whiting and... Paul Newbery got off to a good start, before Newbery fell for 15. Shannon Jones made a quick 10 before having his stumps rattled. Adam Clements looked in good touch, as Whiting fell for 21. Adam Clements then went for 28 just prior to drinks, as The Creek went in to the break at 4/90. Riley Tonkin and Jason Brigandi both got starts, but failed to go on. Jacob Brigandi and Angus Smith finished the innings strongly, pinching some bonus runs to see LCCC finish 8/160. The bowling innings started superbly with openers Adam Clements and Clem Miller each picking up an early wicket to see Nairne in trouble at 2/3 in the 3rd over. Nairne consolidated their innings until change bowlers Jordan Whiting and Jacob Brigandi each had immediate success and Nairne were 4/22. Nairne consolidated again and headed into drinks at 4/52. The return of Clements brought the breakthrough, and when Jacob Brigandi bowled Willis, Nairne were on the ropes at 6/66. From here, Nairne never threatened, meandering to 9/134 from their 40 overs. A great win for The A2s in their last home game for the season. A very even contribution from many players made it too hard to select a player of the match this week. Well done team, a great effort!
