22.01.2022 The third method to maximise your returns from a solar system: Install a micro inverter system. This system works in a similar way to the optimizers. Each panel has its own micro inverter installed on the panel. The advantages are that each panel will be controlled individually, so the output of each panel will be maximized. The combined output of the panels will therefore be increased. In addition, the system can be monitored remotely and each panel performance can be checked in real time. Any problems with any panel will be detected and can be corrected. One other advantage is that the panels are connected with 240VAC current, so we do not have to worry about high and dangerous DC currents of up to 600V. AC connected systems have lower electrical losses compared to DC connected systems.

17.01.2022 DO YOU HAVE A SAFETY SWITCH INSTALLED? Safety Switches Save Lives Install one now! ... Phone 4749 1299 and speak to our friendly staff or drop into our office at 82 Marian Street.

14.01.2022 Just a reminder to all our customers who had their air conditioners installed within the promotional period: You can book your first, free service within the 12 months after installation. Now is a good time to book!

14.01.2022 Continued: How to maximise your returns from solar panels: Let’s start with some facts: Any power you produce and do not use will go back to ERGON. During the day, when the sun shines but you are not home, you do not use much power, but the panels produce energy which ERGON buys of you for 8c/Kw (at the moment this might change in the future). In the evening however, when everybody is at home, you are cooking a meal, the aircons are going full blast and the TV is on in ever...y room, your consumption increases drastically. Your panels are not working because the sun is down. So you have to buy from ERGON at 24 cents per KW (at the moment) End result: You sell ERGON cheap energy during the day and buy it back expensively!! However, in the long run, you are still better off with the panels on the roof. There are two ways of dealing with the above problem: The first method, although resulting in only small savings, is inexpensive but requires a change in routine: Try to shift as much use of electricity into the day (e.g. washing machine, dishwasher this will be different for every household) The second method involves the type of installation of the solar system to be discussed later. 10.01.2022 Having worked out your daily consumption lets you decide what size system you want, and your bank balance will probably have a say in the quality of the system. It is an unfortunate fact in life that you have to pay for quality A system of up to 5Kw for a domestic property usually gets approved by Ergon without much fuss; above that, they will check more thoroughly whether the grid in your area can accommodate your desired size. They might approve it, or they might offer you approval for a reduced size only. In Mount Isa, we can count on 4 5 hours per day of 100% sunshine, averaged out over a year, so you can expect 20 25 Kw of power per day from a 5-KW system, again averaged over a year. Next: Some tricky calculations how you can really maximise your returns.

08.01.2022 All solar systems are not created equal Below are three methods to maximise your returns: 1. Put your panels on a tracking system. 2. Install individual solar Optimizers 3. Install a micro inverter system... Re 1: This means that the panels follow the sun and therefore catch as much as possible direct sun light at the best angle possible. The power gains can be substantial, but the cost of the frames will have to be considered. Also, you still sell cheap energy to ERGON at a low price - only more of it. Re 2: These optimizers are fitted to each panel of your system. They will maximise the power of each panel separately, so the total output of your system is increased. With a normal, one inverter system, the lowest producing panel will determine the output. These units can be retrofitted. Again, the cost of the components plus the time to fit them will have to be considered against the increased production, most of which may be bought by ERGON at the cheap rate anyway. See more

05.01.2022 One of the more interesting aspects of being an electrical contractor would anyone like to guess what the mystery object is?

03.01.2022 Something completely different: We have two large Evaps (RPA 700 DC, down-discharge) in our yard that belong to St. Vincent de Paul who want to sell them they are in very good working condition and were only exchanged because the premises here are now serviced by split systems. The units can be viewed in our yard.

01.01.2022 Saving on electricity, continued: One of the cheapest options of solar power is a solar hot water system. The water is heated up for free during the day and is still hot when the sun goes down, even usually the next day in our climate; you don’t have to use the booster very often in Mt Isa, but it is there for your peace of mind.
