25.01.2022 Our website is getting a long overdue revamp, to better reflect our products and services. So our site may be down periodically, or doing strange things over the next week or so.
23.01.2022 Yet another project bubbling away in the skunk works is our 5 camera oblique system, that we hope to have flying in January. Before committing to 5 cameras and a heap of engineering costs we thought we would test the image quality our or chosen canon camera. The below image will be typical of the type of oblique imagery the system will capture when operational. Each property will have a vertical image and oblique images from 4 angles N,S,W, and W.
23.01.2022 Here is a sample of the imagery from our Mudgee oblique flight showing St Mary's church. We can generate a set of 5 images like this for every building in Mudgee
20.01.2022 Our portable camera pods are able to capture an entire town in high resolution in a matter of hours. This image shows the orthophoto extents from a test flight over Mudgee in NSW. Data was captured at 6 cm GSD and image capture took a smidgen over two hours. If this had been a commercial project it would have cost around $900 to capture using a local aircraft. Thats an entire town at 6 cm GSD for less than $1000.00 AUD!
20.01.2022 This photo of our company survey aircraft in for major and expensive maintenance illustrates why our portable mapping pods make a great deal of economic sense. Pods allow you to hire aircraft as you need them, and give them back when the jobs done.Making maintenance bills somebody else's problem.
19.01.2022 Our new Heron UAV air-frame flew over the weekend. We have put a lot of time into its development and it was great to see it fly by itself! Big thanks to the guys from SSUAV for giving me a hand to get her in the air.
19.01.2022 Another gratuitous Pod shot. In this shot both our 6 band multispectral camera and high resolution mapping camera are packed into a small portable pelican case. REady to be shipped across the world or left in key locations.
19.01.2022 We have been working on our oblique stock image library. At last count we now have 3500 high resolution images (like the one below) of the Mudgee area. All images are available for sale and we have special packages for real estate, detailing individual properties.
19.01.2022 On the road again with our new portable camera systems. This time I'm off to Tasmania to kick off a large forestry imagery project for forests Tasmania.
19.01.2022 For any photogrammetric project an accurate camera / lens calibration is absolutely essential. This is especially true for UAV aerial survey projects. At Aerial Acquisitions we offer a professional camera calibration service for your camera. We use professional camera calibration software and photo reflective targets for an accurate calibration. We can calibrate most types of cameras including point and shoot, mirror less, DSLR, and medium format cameras. Feel free to drop us a line for more information.
18.01.2022 Its been a bit wet out in Western NSW. I was doing some QC for our monthly mine flight imagery and noticed the water in the back of the trucks there were parked up overnight!
17.01.2022 Our new portable camera pod as a complete ready to fly system packed into a small pelican case. Including FMS, camera, and pilots screen ready to be shipped anywhere in the world to capture imagery!
16.01.2022 Why not try our UAV data processing service. All data is processed in Australia by a qualified remote sensing professional. We offer competitive rates, and fast turn around times. Being in Australia we are always contactable. This is not always the case if you send your project overseas. Below is a screen shot of a DEM recently delivered to our happy client. Imagery was captured with a fixed wing UAV.
16.01.2022 Our survey aircraft will again be in the Hunter Valley from the 19th of this month for some mining projects for a few days. If you have any project in the area that need imagery give us a call, we are always looking for ferry fillers
16.01.2022 Got a change to do some quick initial flight tests with the Nikon D800E that will be integrated into our camera pod. Camera performed well and did not skip a beat. We are happy with the image quality. We should get our first sample data sets available next month.
16.01.2022 Weird flying survey without that big yellow ball in the sky.......
13.01.2022 One of our mapping pod's fitted to squirrel B3 after a successful test flight. I haven't done much flying in helicopters, but I could get used to it!
12.01.2022 Another 2 day UAV remote sensing course delivered last week at Bankstown Airport. We run a course every month and on request. If you are a drone operator looking to get into the survey and mapping field then this is a great introduction.
11.01.2022 Showing off our portable mapping system at the SPAA symposium in Toowoomba.
10.01.2022 New aircrew training program going well
08.01.2022 On the road with our portable mapping systems. This time demonstrating a unit to the department of land, water, and planning, and our friends at Geocomp Intl.
08.01.2022 Another round of monthly Hunter Valley mine stocks flown!
06.01.2022 We did some flight testing of the Nikon D800E camera that we will be shortly integrating into our portable camera pods, with great results. On this flight we wanted to test the vertical accuracy of the sensor for it's suitability in creating accurate DEM / DSM's, for applications such as mining and quarrying. We flew an area with know ground control and created a test DSM, a snippet of which is shown below. We were more than happy with the GCP residuals in Z. We also flew the same are with our Hasselblad and more info can be found on our website.
06.01.2022 We are off the the 19th SPAA show in Toowoomba next week to show off our new camera pods. If you are attending the show drop by our booth and say G'day. We will have a camera pod on display and some shameless propaganda like this to give you
05.01.2022 After months of design and development our new portable camera pods for Cessna 172 aircraft are ready. We will be offering our pods as ready to fly turnkey systems, complete with flight management system, L1 GPS, camera, POD, and all the paperwork to keep CASA happy. Our flight management system is also optimized for pilot only operations. We initially be offering two systems, one for mapping and a multi spectral option. Our mapping variant will include the 36 mpxl Nikon D800. While the multispectral option will included a Tetracam MCA 4 or 6 band camera. All cameras will be supplied with a complete camera calibration.
04.01.2022 Our 5 camera system finally flew on the weekend, over lovely Mudgee. We are really happy with the image quality, here is a sample pic from one of the oblique cameras.
04.01.2022 Delivered another UAV Remote Sensing course through TotalRPA down in sunny Nowra over the weekend. Its always great working with other professionals like Rylan from Opterra in Wollongong. Over the 2 days we looked at ways of optimizing flight planning and image capture to achieve the highest accuracy possible.
04.01.2022 Playing around with some point clouds from our 5 camera oblique system. Note the information on the building facades, should make for some cool 3D models.
04.01.2022 If you are heading out to the AIMS conference later this week, be sure to stop by our booth and check out one of our mapping pods in the flesh!
03.01.2022 We have moved into our new offices at Bankstown Airport in Hanger 660, Tower Rd. We have a training / meeting room to allow teaching of our new UAV course and UAV consulting. So If your in the area drop in and say hello!
03.01.2022 Fitting a portable mapping pod to a squirrel for some mapping trials
02.01.2022 Our portable mapping pods were involved in an interesting project over the weekend near Lithgow in NSW. We are looking to map tree mortality caused by the Sirex Wood Wasp, using high resolution imagery. Will update you on our progress.
01.01.2022 Installed our camera pod on a local aircraft. Finishing test flying tomorrow.
