19.01.2022 *** IMPORTANT POST ABOUT AERIAL RIGS or RIGGING AT HOME *** Did you know... that when an aerialist performs a single drop, we can create a force that’s 5 times our weight... 5 TIMES! Me for example (Miss Tam) weighs 53 kgs... so when I drop I’m creating a force that’s at almost 300kgs! I knew I shouldn’t have had those chips? When I had aerial dreaming installed the process was enormous! This involved structural engineers, engineering reports, advanced riggers specialising... in aerial acrobatics, a team of welders, fitters, more engineers and an enormous amount of paperwork and approvals. Each point in our studio is rated to 2 tonne!!!! Read that again... 2 tonne!! There is a reason why we need this much!!! Obviously we are a school and safety is our priority, however this should not be compromised if you are considering training at home. Aerial Dreaming does not recommend, endorse or support training outside of our circus school. Aerials can be a dangerous sport and without the supervision of your instructors can cause serious harm or injury. Trust me... I have seen it happen! If you still wish to ignore this and venture down the training at home route, there are things you must do. We do not recommend asking someone to build something like this picture you have seen! The portable rigs available in Australia (for more details please discuss with us in person) have been engineered and designed FOR AERIALISTS! The dynamic and static load that we put on these apparatus is enormous and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Most portable rigs come with safety certificates that prove they have undergone testing to Australian standards to deem them safe. Further to this, rigging in sheds at home should be performed by an advanced rigger specialising in circus. Keep in mind they will only rig once citing an engineers report establishing the structure is strong enough for our sport. If In need, we can provide contact details for these people for you. If you have rigged at home, ask yourself... is it safe? Has someone with knowledge installed this or am I at risk of hurting myself or the roof falling in??? We can not stress how important safety is in this industry. We do not want to see our students hurt. With Christmas coming, apparatuses are always a popular gift... but again, we can provide advice on this. We are not riggers. We do have an amazing team that provides this service for us and keeps us safe though. We want you to be safe at home as well. Miss Tam and AD team.
