25.01.2022 Aero Motion Australia has worked around the world on some pretty fantastic action rigging adventures feature films, theatre and circus productions. Here we take a look behind the scenes at how we get to design and build the rigs that we get to perform on.
25.01.2022 A perfect sunset ending for a great week flying UAV in RAAF SQN 453 airspace Williamtown north of Newcastle this week. Great food, great waves and Ill be back for more soon! Have a great weekend everyone #auav #uav #rpas @aeromotion
25.01.2022 Destruction testing Tuesday! How do we test our nets? Our method is guided by best practice from other high-risk industries and how they test nets. For example, a fall arrest safety net which can also be used for a flying trapeze net will have a known strength rating for each mesh square of netting, multiply that by the width, the length, and the strength of the ridge rope and you will have an approximate overall rating for a net. But this is only as good as the theory and without missing any factors that could lead to the net breaking at a lesser value we actually destruction test and then proof load our nets to comply with engineering standards.

24.01.2022 This months featured case study is all about how to set up an Aerial Art Studio and tells the story of our colourful past and innovative beginnings. The Aerial Lab was created in the 90s as a resource for the research and development of the aerial arts and physical theatre. You can https://buff.ly/2xiODdA about this at our web site and keep up to date with the latest news on our new https://buff.ly/2LrzNtv
22.01.2022 Destruction testing Tuesday! Were back in the lab and this time weve been breaking alloy box truss to validate the manufacturers load ratings and assure compliance to Australian Standards. Get in touch with us today to ensure you have the safest equipment and rigging systems in place. https://buff.ly/2U8hqKM
22.01.2022 Our Lyras are built using mild steel and stainless steel hollow tube and solid rod which is cold rolled then welded to the assembly to ensure the highest structural integrity. Our welded lugs are laser cut and have a hand loop attachment point, the welded joint is reinforced mechanically to create the safest possible joint. Important when pushing out on certain tricks and you dont want the weld to come apart.
21.01.2022 Out with the old and in with the new! Time to replace gear that has outlived its life. Harness and hardware retirement to quarantine.

20.01.2022 Aero Motion Australia designs and fabricates custom-built aerial rigging equipment and stunt rigging hardware. All of our designs have come from the industry needs for high-performance equipment used for dynamic aerial rigging and flying stunts, Visit our website to learn more. https://buff.ly/2LZoolH
18.01.2022 We continue our exploration of acceptable wear limits and take a look at some recent studio designs to talk about the use of high-performance rigging equipment and techniques for aerial rigging. When we design rigging systems for clients, its always a compromise between cost, performance and ease of use, safety is the most important aspect by far. For that reason, we select equipment that performs well in this dynamic and extremely complex environment.
18.01.2022 Aerial rigging and performing have a profound effect on the storytelling process of any artistic production, from the opening ceremonies of large scale outdoor events to big top shows and intimate art gallery openings. When we leave the ground we also leave the safety of earth. You can get an insight into how we think and safely plan out a research and development facility for the aerial arts here. https://buff.ly/2YW9j6P

Wed also like to thank our customers for your support and our amazing suppliers during 2019 for getting mission-critical materials and parts to us ASAP. Were working right through the Christmas and New Year period to get all your orders out the door and onto the fireground and we wish you all a safe and mindful Christmas and welcome to 2020. Call on us for any operational needs, 24/7.
12.01.2022 Not a bad day at the office today! Seeing the amazing regrowth after the devastatingly hot fires as we fly all over NSW, these areas are going to take years to recover but already there are signs of renewal everywhere,. #amazingnature #flyingadventures, #lookout #guyfawkes
12.01.2022 The design and installation of aerial rigging rely on the knowledge, experience and innovation of an industry professional, no other occupation or work has the level of risk we are exposed to as the aerial artist and rigger. Here we take a brief look at how we put together an aerial rigging design and how we manage to achieve this safely
10.01.2022 We use 4 ply cotton rope for our Lyras as our performers have found it provides great texture and a good safe grip. The other option, the 12 braid soft synthetic rope, provides an alternative to natural fibre rope where extra strength is required and for outdoor performances as the moisture wont affect the fibres. It also has a great texture to it. When spliced directly to the bar, we pad them and cover the splice with a durable fabric. Ropes can be cut, spliced and dressed to suit any requirement. What is your favourite rope fibre for Lyras?
09.01.2022 Come and take a look at some of our stunts and rigging highlights over the years as we share with you our creations. This one is from a TVC shot in Sydney Australia.

07.01.2022 What could you do if you had the resources and talent to produce aerial art? Take a look at what we created way back in 2007 at The Aerial Lab in Sydney Australia. The finest choreography and rigging designs anywhere in the world today.
07.01.2022 This months featured product is the aerial Lyra or aerial ring. The Lyra is a traditional circus apparatus, fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel. It can have the rope spliced directly to the bar, which we developed and perfected over the years, or it can have a welded lug which you can also attach a hand loop for spinning work. For more info read about our latest case study at https://buff.ly/2EHPqJk
06.01.2022 And now for a look behind the scenes of our testing department? The potential for things to go wrong and ultimately fail can have catastrophic consequences. Our method of testing includes establishing a baseline or known value of the strength at the point of yield for a product. But how do we know the forces we apply to our products are being accurately displayed? And what if a load cell sensor is faulty how do we catch this before it creates a false data set? Great questions... and we are always on the lookout for this. Thats why we evaluate and test clients products and test equipment. When we validated the manufacturers claims for their load cell products, in this case, we averted disaster by testing the test tool. It failed at between 2 - 3 tonnes and it was rated at 6.5 tonnes, so what happened? The analysis of this event is a series of complex hypotheses to get to the bottom of the cause of why a rigging item failed at such a low value. Needless to say, we wont be using this load cell. Every load cell is required to be calibrated as the complex method of obtaining the strain and tension values to be converted from mechanical to electrical to a digital readout are really very simple, but it needs to be accurate against a known value. The load cell also needs to be proof load tested periodically and a declared safety factor applied based on the ultimate destruction load value. 06.01.2022 Heres a blast from the past when we took our Chinese Pole act "The Axis of Ecstasy" to Vogue Magazine 2nd Anniversary Celebrations in Beijing China. Catch more of our amazing creations on our web site https://buff.ly/2IqESS3
06.01.2022 Our Aerial nets are constructed with nylon or polypropylene knotless netting, mesh square size ranges from 50mm to 100mm and colours are available in red, green, blue, white and black or a combination of many colours. Modern net weaving machines now produce nets on the square, meaning less waste when cutting from the bale. We sew an edge our nets with a structural ridge rope and provide a proof load test certificate with every net upon request.

04.01.2022 https://buff.ly/2U8hqKM Our proof load testing and destruction testing services are used to analyse, validate and assess aerial rigging equipment designs, raw materials and the products themselves. We offer this suite of services to our customers to ensure complete assurance that the rated value or capacity of a product is true.
02.01.2022 Our featured aerial performance product is the Aerial Net. This is an aerial apparatus with plenty of room for exploring the depths of your creative work. Aerial nets can be rigged as a hammock from 2 or more points or from a single point. The flexibility a net gives the performer different ways to rig and to use the aerial net. Our extensive research, development and design of the nets focus on the size of the net, the mesh square size, the twine size and the unique proprietary machine sewn edge. Read on for more details.
