01.01.2022 October is breast cancer awareness month so look out for a few breast cancer awareness posts this month! So who can have a breast screen? A regular screening (c...heck) mammogram (breast xray) is one of the most best ways to pick up cancer early so it can be treated early. We know with the Pandemic, many women have fallen behind on their screening and hope this month we can all start changing that around. Breast screening is free and recommended for women aged 50-74. BreastScreen NSW invites you to have your first screening mammogram at the age of 50 - you will get a letter in the mail for your birthday. After this, usually you have one breast screen mammogram every two years until the age of 74. If you’re aged 40-49 or over 74, you can also attend BreastScreen NSW for a screening mammogram. Have a yarn with your doctor when it is the best time for you to start. This is particularly if you have any Family History of Breast Cancer, when you may be advised to start earlier. If you notice any changes in your breasts it is important to get them checked with your doctor whatever your age or whenever your last breast screen was. Throwback to Team Galambila pretty in pink last year (before physical distancing!)
