25.01.2022 FILLER MIGRATION (Swipe for before photo) This beautiful lady came to me requesting lip filler. After taking a look at her lips, it was clear she had filler migration (from another injector) above her lips up toward her nose (above the vermillion border). This gave her a ‘duck lip’ appearance . ... She did not have a defined lip border. She didn’t realise and was used to this just being her ‘new normal’. Why does filler migration happen? Migration of filler happens for multiple reasons but generally poor injection technique and overfilled lips. In the case of this client it was the fact that she’d had frequent lip filler treatment over a period of 15-20 years. When applying product into an area that already has some existing product, a little bit can be pushed into another area and result in this ‘duck lip’ appearance. The client then thinks they need more filler in their lips as the cycle continues. What did we do? The scary D word! We dissolved. We used a medication that is the enzyme that breaks filler down and turns it to a watery based consistency, being able to then be absorbed by the body and ‘disappear’ . My lovely very very patient client lived with her dissolved lips for a week and we then started fresh with some beautiful plump lip filler (a total of 1.3ml) giving her a gorgeous result as you can see from the before and after.
