22.01.2022 There was a very cool question posed by generator party famous Nick Themotherland Manuell on a music group that I thought could be cool to share here. The question was "What is something you wish someone had told you about being in bands and touring etc when you were like 14?". I decided to chime in and add my 2c and got a few likes so I thought hay, why not share it on here. Of all the things Ive come to understand is important in music at Aesthetic Studios is that the hone...sty is transparent. Write music you want to hear, not what you think other people want to hear (unless that is your intention). Kinda goes hand in hand with a lil nugget from Tim Ferriss that says that niche can be better than mass appeal. In the sense that it is better to have 100 die hard fans than 1000 avid listeners. Do everything yourself until you dont have the time to or feel out of your depth. If you dont know how to do something, YouTube it or ask someone for help. Like minded people attract other like minded people. Youll make friends along the way. Once you get to the point of feeling swamped, and have too much on your hands, that is usually when other parties take interest and offer their services, continuing the journey to world domination etc. I feel like music is just like any other walk of life. You need to have something people care about. No management/agent/label/venues care that youve poured your heart into the music, they care about return on their investment (you) and numbers through the door. BUT, pouring your heart into your music IS what gets numbers to your shows and proves your worth. So do the work first, no one skips steps. There are bands that get certain opportunities, but understanding the band, and what you want from yours is important. Are you just hanging out for some fun? Are you making the commitment to a project that has the end goal of touring Aus/the world? Just like someone selling fake sunnies in Bali, they arent going to sell you a pair at a loss, no business is going to want to spend time and money on you if they dont see the opportunity for profit. Opportunity comes to people who understand and see the commitment combined with the product. Understand chemistry and dont waste time with flakes. There is NOTHING WORSE than seeing talented, driven people, being dragged down by lazy people who have zero commitment. Dont be afraid to ask for what you want, and again, just be honest with everyone. Your band, venues, agents, other bands and most importantly, yourself. $25 solo sessions $60 day + weekend sessions $80 Monday - Thursday night sessions 1 lyk 1 prayer.

02.01.2022 One of the coolest things about owning Aesthetics is seeing young bands write music that naturally resonates with the rest of the world. Ive had the privilege of watching Aburden grow from tour to tour and from strength to strength, all the while continuing to write honest music that cant be faked or forced. I dont want to say that this ability comes naturally, because that would cheapen the amount of commitment and work Mason, Kyle, Jordan, Ben and Kylan have dedicated to this project. Needless to say, I am really proud of them and cant wait to see what the future holds for Aburden. (And they 100% are only good because they rehearse at Aesthetics.)
