Praying for the powerful move of the Holy Spirit as they devote their time in learning to live as witnesses in their daily encounters. May God fortify his work in the lives of these churches as they grow a witnessing culture in their leadership teams. 23.01.2022 You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11 Meaning in life is found in your relationship with God!... We try to appear happy and confident to other people, but many of us struggle with a feeling of emptiness about our lives. God made us to live lives of meaning and purpose. When we feel empty, we immediately look for a way to remove that emptiness and to fill it with something. Some people immerse themselves in their work or their studies. Others resort to drugs or alcohol. Some strive for achievement or recognition. It is not only non-Christians who take these paths. Believers also can lose sight of God. God wants us to know that He has made us to find meaning in Him. Feelings of emptiness should be a signal to us that we need to focus more on our walk with Him. Anything else that we look to as a way to fill up our emptiness is an idol to us. We are allowing that thing or activity to take the place that only God should have in our lives. God will oppose that misplaced allegiance. Youll never find the peace, meaning, fulfilment and wholeness that you seek until you find it in God. God himself is alive and active in this world today. God is not just being of history that we can read about in the Bible. He, himself is alive today and involved in this world. He responds to people who study his word to know about him, and then act in faith on the basis of what he himself wants to do in their lives an...d in this worldpeople who pray in faith. In our own organisation, we have many times come to a crisis in our ministrywhere financially, it looked like there was no way forward, the door was closed, we would have to close down our doors, and yet we have this clear sense of Gods calling about what he wanted to do in our ministry. So as a team, and as a board we have prayed and called on God and trusted God and at just the right moment, he provides just what we need..I found that even in my own life, in my family as well, not only in financial areas but in so many different areas of life, as you face things that are beyond your control or that you cannot see the way that God will make a way forward, but you pray, and trust him and God gets involved.. 18.01.2022 We may sleep but Satan doesn't. Prepare yourself for spiritual battle before it comes to you! We have a powerful and clever spiritual enemy, but God has given us armour and weapons that will enable us to defeat his attacks in our lives. Still, unless we use that armour and prepare for battle we will experience constant defeat in our spiritual lives. As Charles Spurgeon said, "We may sleep, but Satan does not".... The time to start praying and reading your Bible and going to Bible study is not when you are in a tough time and being tempted and attacked spiritually at every turn. For sure, run to God then; but God is speaking to you today through these verses and telling you that the key to victory is to be walking in close fellowship with him BEFORE the attacks come. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 God wants to reveal Himself to others through you!... This is why God made us in His image. He wants people to see Him in us. This is why He has put you in the family you are in, in your specific workplace, with your flatmates, in your neighbourhood, in that club you are a part of. These are all places where people need to see God in you. Be aware that people are watching your life closely. It may not seem like it sometimes, but its true. And theyre evaluating your God by what they see of Him in you. Representing God to people is a job that is way too big for us, but the great news is that Jesus will live His life through you, if you will invite Him to lead your life. 13.01.2022 Today's Time With God The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me. Luke 10:16 Those whose hearts are open will welcome your witness and those whose hearts are pushing God away will reject your witness!... Jesus said these words to 72 people that he had trained and was sending out ahead of him in groups of two to the places he was going to visit. He wanted them to know ahead of time that some people would accept their witness and others would reject iteven if they did everything right. I hope you hear him sharing this understanding with you today too. There will be people in your life that you pray for and build relationships with and share Christ with, but their hearts are not open to God and in the end, they may reject you along with Christ. There will be others, often ones you least expect, who you reach out to hesitantly, but you find that their hearts are ready to talk about God and how he can become a part of their lives. Even as you start on the journey of learning to live as a witness, Jesus wants you to know and recognise this. Peoples rejection or acceptance of your witness will be the expression of their hearts response to him. After experiencing both kinds of response to their witness, the next verse describes their perspective: The 72 returned with joy. The only way to avoid the rejection is to also avoid the joy of being a witness to those whose hearts are ready. How does this verse today encourage you to speak up? Please join us, as we pray for John and other worlds gifted speakers in the topic of faith as they lead this years Mid-Year Conference organised by our dear co-labourers in Christ, Power to change. This conference is one of their main events, and this year, they are doing it online. This is a national event, so students from universities around the country have been tuning in to this since yesterday, Tuesday, 14th until 16t...h of July, Thursday. Please pray for the students who are attending that event, that God will be at work in their lives. Please also pray for wisdom and Gods leading for our life2life groups (local and overseas), and as we commence with our EvangelismSHIFT sessions this month, local and overseas too. May Gods hand be upon us as we think through international growth without the access to international travel. 04.01.2022 Ministry update: Like many of you, we are having virtual meetings and EvangelismSHIFT seminars in the past weeks via Zoom. Virtually everyone was present and there was a great atmosphere with people sharing their stories and interacting with the teaching. PLEASE PRAY for John as he leads the seminar tomorrow: "How do you train people for evangelism in disciplemaking environment?" He will be leading the first topic in the series of zoom gatherings organised by our close partners in SHIFTm2M. He will be helping the church leaders in the EvangelismSHIFT community to put together a truly great plan for training their people in evangelism, utilising the four main approaches Jesus used in his training of the disciples to be fishers of men. 02.01.2022 Reflections Acting on Gods prompting _____________________________________________ ... Around 9 pm one Saturday night many years ago, while my wife and I were at home in West Pennant Hills, I had this conviction to go and visit my cousins husband, in intensive care at the old Sydney Hospital in Macquarie Street Sydney. No one had visited him recently as he was only given a couple of days to live and was in a coma. He was in his mid-40s with an incurable cancer in his body. I jumped in the car, wondering what to expect, drove into the city and walked up the worn, uneven sandstone steps into the old Hospital. I noticed a large room on my left. Over in the corner was a bed with an enormous plastic sheet covering it attached to the roof, with tubes obviously going to whoever was in the bed. I walked in, and to my surprise it was him. He had been in a coma for some days and was in palliative care waiting for the end. As I approached his bed I was amazed to see his eyes open - I called him by his name and asked Are you awake?, and a slight smile of recognition appeared on his lips -I am so happy to see you - would you like me to pray with You? Yes, with a slight squeeze of my hand. I had never talked about God or Jesus with him. Would you like to talk to God about how you are going? I can pray for you?. Yes, with another hand squeeze. As I prayed, I asked God to open his eyes and heart to receive Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and step into a place of faith in Jesus. To my amazement he nodded, squeezed my hand again, and then with a smile on his face fell into his final sleep. Two days later his body died, but the reassurance that his soul was in heaven was such a blessing. I have often reflected on the fact that I was obedient to that conviction of my heart from Gods prompting. It was such a wonderful confirmation of Gods grace and communication. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
