24.01.2022 French Ashlar paving to a modified timber raised garden bed and seat

24.01.2022 Dry lawn area? Make use of rain water and to disperse it evenly you must install aggy pipe. Doesn't have to be deep and yes roots will eventually consume the pipe but that's the point. Watering there is nothing fancy about joining the aggy pipe together, it is covered in holes anyway so just cut open a section and jam the other pipe in. Duct tape will stop them pulling apart

24.01.2022 Day 1 and this is how far we've gone. Materials arrived late, design was still being done as we worked and we spent more time working on elements you wont see but I'm confident. $1115 spent.

23.01.2022 Meeting done, off to Greensborough to set up shop for the week and make good on a promise! And RETURN some calls

21.01.2022 Now this is the one I can't wait to show you all. It's not just going to be amazing, it's something no one else has ever built with the bordered steps, complete with 45cut kickers running the full length. Also a newly squared garden bed with freshly laid bricks which will be capped with timber. Also the deadline for the front yard is set. 30 of this month! Which means there is a lot to do but we always need to challenge ourselves in life.

21.01.2022 It is so important to sand back your timber before oiling it for the first time. Here the bottom piece hasnt been sanded

18.01.2022 Ok people I'm asking for a midway massive rally to get behind and vote for garage commando. Might take up 30secs a day, has the potential to change Ethan and Alexandria's life. Even if you haven't voted before or sometimes, I'm really asking we rally everyone we can and for today we will overload the sites with votes. I'm pleading to you all, votings almost up and this surge could make all the difference. #EthanCommando. This normally company business but today it's an exception. Click on the link on my personal page and just humor me for a day. Everyone vote

18.01.2022 And where Im at now!

18.01.2022 Day 2: Almost all edging in, all materials are delivered and we are on track. WHEN the party is over and we have time to roll out some lawn this yard really would be an amazing sight. Even as stands there is something special about this one! Not only will Courtney no longer be embarrassed to have friends over, she is excited about having her 21st here when Is all completed. Havent met a nicer young girl who deserves a special day before so if she is happy we here at AFEX are happy. (Only complaint so far has been my singing but secretly I think she loves it!) Have a quote to do and then Im off to the Turners today so we are skipping a day but will be back to finish off tomorrow. $295 spent yesterday and 1 more days work left.

17.01.2022 How would build a curved garden bed around square structures. The edge doesn't even line up! All toppes with a classy concrete capper. This, of course, is a before. All I've done is gut the plants out

17.01.2022 Thank you to Courtney for sending through some photos of the Yard after her 21st. I hope you had a great night!

17.01.2022 This was the first job I did on my own. Including the paving and raised garden beds with lights

16.01.2022 Firstly apologies to anyone trying to contact me the last couple of days, I've been crook and I have missed many a call. I will be back in action Friday through to next Friday to make up lost time. I will try call you all back (Pike you are first) and will be answering all calls from here. If you ever can't get me please leave your name, number, who referred you and maybe even a photo of your blank canvas on this page and you WILL receive a call within 48hrs. Atm I'm a one ma...n show so sickness throws a spanner in the works but it doesn't mean I don't care! My operation will be expanding and i will have someone answering work related calls soon so nothing is missed. I apologize again but you will hear from me soon. As some may know I also have a wedding in 1 month so that makes things even crazier! When that is over things will become far more relaxed. I appreciate all your support (Lisa you even suggested this!), if it be advice, amazing opportunitys (Ben Wood) direct business (Barry and Astride ) or going beyond anything I could have asked for. (Turners and Pike). If i have missed anyone I once again apologize. From the bottom of my heart I thank you al. it's not easy trying to make it on my own so I'm also lucky I don't have to do that with the support of both my familys, help from mates like Dean and Chris and most of all, Ryan and my shining star Jessica. Communications on the go are about to become even easier thanks to a generous, supportive older brother Jake. I owe you more than just a thank you already. Sincerely Benjamin "Benafex" Mormile.

16.01.2022 And where I'm at now!

16.01.2022 My first set of power tools (4 yrs ago?) . Complete with scotch and redbull! (after hours of course :)

16.01.2022 The vision is coming true. Not long now!

16.01.2022 Tree roots the size of tree trunks, unlevel ground to set the excavator up and a plumber who is either dumb as dog shit or was trying to take the client for a ride. I wont work like that and if youre on my site neither will you. Not impressed and in the end he wont be returning to the property. People put their trust in you, and trust that youre honest, so if there is an unforeseen obstacle an appropriate variance can be made. So for God sake dont abuse their trust.

15.01.2022 No job too small? How about turning the underside of Dean deck into a cat pen. Crafty cats tested every mode of escape!

15.01.2022 Now the roof tilers have finally finished ive got the footings in and it all happens tomorrow!

15.01.2022 This was the last job I completed. Rock Gambian retaining wall. Like a vertical jigsaw. Thanks to Ryan Barry, Chris Barlow, Dean Turner and Ian Broster for your help on this beast! Clients were over the moon with the finished product. Beers and bonuses all round but honestly, nothing is a better feeling then leaving a job where the client stood out there till dark looking at it. He even used his phone torch when it got dark!

14.01.2022 Its amazing to think we turned this into a passable area for a 21st in just 3 days. Thats complete with prepped lawn area under the mulch, garden beds, paths, fire pit, rockery with plants and a one of a kind bordered Lilydale washed river rockery with plants. The angles alone (made with jarrah edge) and repeated pattern make this a truly special garden and all this was done for 2700. Thats right, our nearest competition offered a simple design 3 weeks late (so after the 21...st) and as far as turf well they said they will throw in a free bag of seed for 4900. Meeting not a single brief of the client, if they had got to know the family they would have known it was all about a dad trying to throw his daughter a great 21st. Cover the brief first and then add to it. Functionality of the fire pit was high on the list so thats what we gave them. Now the 21st is said and done it just needs some turf! Well done to Ryan and Ian for your hard work! See more

14.01.2022 Alot of work in stairs like this but it's worth it. Once those bricks are a id washed too I think I'll want to move in

12.01.2022 So the challenge has been set. (Thanks Barry for your challenge of the week). Medium sized yard (more like dust bowl) with no grass, no plants no... Well nothing. Budget is a small 2500 and to top things off, their daughters 21st is being held there THIS Saturday. Impossible right? Dont forget I need gas money to make it back from Roxborough Park! Nothing is impossible and while its not going to win any garden shows Im going to bet the neighbors whos been manicuring his lawn for the last ten years will be jealous but most of all, this girl will get the 21st ahe deserves without being embarrassed of well.... This

12.01.2022 I ask anyone to find a better looking deck at the same price. Do the job once and do it right.

11.01.2022 Befores on the current job

10.01.2022 My apprentice rose pruner. They take far more care than most other plants

10.01.2022 This was the paving on my first ever private job. Indian slate on a 45 with a small atrip boarder and 90 degree outside boarder. Slate not the easiest to work with nor was the pattern. Not a single paver was square ... Not an angle grinder cant touch up.

08.01.2022 Now this is the one I cant wait to show you all. 08.01.2022 When laying bricks always use a string line. Despite how good you think you are it won't come out perfect unless you use one and run it the full distance. Matching the colour of previous mortar is important too or your wall will stand out for the wrong reasons!

08.01.2022 Building another deck for a lot less than youd think!

07.01.2022 Odds and ends: A screen at my current job to break up all that red brick, the start of the free design and quote for and old friend Astride (old photo, Im further along now) and the re tiling of mums old shower which wasnt in a good state. But by cleaning (really freaking cleaning) and re using it all came up nice for the total price of $14. (Mums rates only.)

06.01.2022 Building another deck for a lot less than you'd think!

06.01.2022 HUGE thank you for my Facebook friends for helping me choose my business cards. Now I can thank you by building you something like this...

06.01.2022 Crazy paving, or random slate your thing? It's time consuming if you take pride in what you do. Still, I've known a few who take far too long by cutting each piece or dry laying it all. Not necessary unless your at the end and have run out of choices. Its no different from a jigsaw puzzle. Kinda.

06.01.2022 More befores including my younger brother just checking i know what im doing

05.01.2022 Some finished sections of the new rock wall (which wont fall down) and prep work on the deck

01.01.2022 Thats how the edge of a pool turns into a waterwall wifh pond. Expansion when dealing with a surface that goes from full sun to cold water is what MUST be taken into consideration.
