Dan makes up one half of Team Software in QLD doing all things tech - talking about the latest technologies with devs, showcasing Brissy's best software houses and even learning to code in his spare time!... 14.01.2022 4 weeks of meditation later and the results are in... meditating has reduced our workplace stress Of course, the practice is always ongoing, but thanks to Bec at Infinite Presence (certified meditation teacher), we're now equipped with tools to tap into our happy places on demand. Work will always come with stress (lockdown or not) and doing exercises to help us breathe and focus on the present will always be essential to our wellbeing. One of the meditations we practice...d and particularly enjoyed? A soothing visualisation that took us to the dreamy outdoors. Bec guided us through various experiences to help us tune into our senses, create our own little havens and relax beside the sound of crashing waves and ocean breeze. Seriously, when you can't go many places, visualisation is the next best thing! Over the last 2 years, Alex has grown into the incredible Tech Talent Advocate she is today. Her human-centred approach for getting to know people leaves candidates feeling seen, heard and excited. It’s all in the feedback people...and there's a LOT of it. People go out of their way to tell it. ’Alex this and... Alex that’. Oh and as a true animal lover, Alex even learns the names of everyone's pets hers is an adorable boxer x named Zeppelin (Zeppy the heart breaker). 05.01.2022 Our team is a resilient bunch. But just because they're able to bounce back during these *unique* times (read: recruiting in the middle of a pandemic/economic crisis, ha!) doesn't mean they don't need just as much love and support as the next lot. That's why for a couple of months we've been in conversation with our dear friend and mental health instructor/ meditation teacher/ NLP practitioner, Bec @infinitepresence. And for the last few weeks? We've gathered 'round Zoom for ...weekly 1-hr sessions to talk all things meditation, stress relief, mindfulness and relaxation. Each sesh starts and ends with Bec's insanely soothing voice guiding us through meditation. The rest of the hour we learn/ talk about things like stress, the brain and the nervous system. It's an hour for us to rest, reset and recharge. To breathe slowly and deeply. To focus on the present and release any tension words like 'emails', 'biz dev' or 'linkedin' might bring us and truly chill tf out. Isn't that what the spring season is all about? Half of our team recently became certified Mental Health First Aiders. If you've ever done a First Aid/CPR class? It's just like that, but for the mind The course involved pre-reading, online modules, virtual interactive sessions with the team and our lovely facilitator, Bec, and lastly, a final assessme...nt which we all passed with gold stars. And now? We're officially trained in being the first people to properly address signs of mental health distress. not therapists physicians nor psychiatrists. Instead, we're trusted by the rest of our team to notice certain behaviours and most importantly, to address our concerns in a way that's both empathetic and helpful.
