24.01.2022 Whats in Season This April! Welcome to Autumn Repost @australianorganic... The transitional months always remind us that the organic seasons are usually shorter than they are for conventionally grown produce. We are still feeling the impact of the drought on a lot of growers so the season is later and the volumes are lower for a lot of producers. Remembering that for most fruit crops it is a 12 month season as opposed to leafy veg which has a much shorter turn around. There is good supply of most vegetables, the recent rains were a gift and we are seeing the results enter the market. All of the winter staples are in full swing. Generally, a good time of year for vegetable supply with multiple regions producing. 10.01.2022 Its a Start of Another Month, With a New List of In Season Fruit & Veg this August! @australianorganic This month we havent seen much in the way of change in our organic fruit and veg compared to July, but were certainly another month closer to Spring and to warmer and brighter times! ... The variety and availability of fruit hasnt changed much this month and doesnt tend to fluctuate during the Winter months. In short, theres lots of Apple, Pears and Citrus, though you might struggle to get Limes by the end of the month. Theres also lots of Strawberries from the Sunshine Coast, just in time for what should have been the Ekka holiday. For Veggies, you can still get your Brassicas, Carrots and Potatoes, and therell be Asparagus and Purple Garlic coming on towards the end of the month. 02.01.2022 HAPPY SATURDAY! Kickstart your Weekend with BLUEBERRY PANCAKES YES PLEASE Its also gluten-free, refined sugar-free and oil-free, woohoo!! FULL RECIPE [Makes 2 servings]... 1 cup + 2 tbsp plant-based milk (any will do but I think almond or soy tend to work the best!) 1 ripe banana, mashed 2 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp lemon zest 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 cup buckwheat flour (this is my favourite gluten-free flour - You can however sub it for plain flour or even plain wholemeal flour!) 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries 1 In a bowl, combine the almond milk, banana, lemon juice, lemon zest & vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. 2 Add in the buckwheat flour, baking powder and cinnamon and whisk until smooth.
