23.01.2022 As the days start too cool off, remember to still aim to consume your recommended daily intake of water. Water is the healthiest beverage for the teeth as it consumes no sugar or acid. As well as helping create saliva and lubricate the mouth for swallowing, it flushes away sugars and acids in the mouth. Sugary and acidic foods have a harmful effect on your teeth because they result in tooth decay. The bacteria in your mouth enjoys nothing more than to feeds on sugar, which l...eads to the creation of lactic acid. When lactic acid remains in your mouth for a long time, it begins to wear down the tooth enamel. Enamel can also be harmed by the acid in foods, including many fruits and vegetables. As well as brushing your teeth morning and night, regularly drinking water will help flush away the sugars and acids in your mouth, protecting your teeth from routine damage.

22.01.2022 It's World No Tobacco Day today. #TobaccoExposed With tobacco intake in all its forms responsible for an extensive range of oral and chronic diseases and a high number of deaths, the ADA is urging Australians to take steps to reduce and quit smoking - ada.org.au/WorldNoTobaccoDay2020

21.01.2022 https://www.instagram.com/tv/B9O8DU4nBcb/?hl=en Looking for inspiration for an activity with the kids while we are stuck at home? A great activity to teach the kids the importance of taking their time when brushing and to ensure they clean all surfaces of the teeth. While playing they work on their visual motor skills, fine motor skills and importance of dental hygiene.... While playing talk to your kids about what plaque is, what happens when food gets stuck in the teeth and how you can prevent having cavities. You can modify the activity by writing numbers, letters, shapes on the teeth etc. Try reversing the roles and getting the children to draw in the plaque, while you do the brushing.
19.01.2022 Are the kids after school activities are on hold and the calendar is looking a bit quieter? Now is a great time to get the kids teeth checked and cleaned. If your unsure of your families eligibility for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme, speak with our friendly reception team who can check this for you.... To schedule an appointment call 4946 5070
16.01.2022 We are proud that the dental industry are trying to reduce their plastic usage and use more environmentally friendly materials. One of our favourite interdental cleaning aids brands Piksters have introduced their products in organic bamboo which is biodegradable and compostable.

12.01.2022 **COVID-19 UPDATE** We are very pleased to be able to advise all of our patients that as of Monday 11th May, we have moved to Level 1 restrictions as advised by the ADA. What does this mean? Well, simply put, we are now able to offer a complete range of dental procedures, including preventative treatments such as cleaning and polishing. In the coming days, we will be in contact with patients to reschedule all appointments that were postponed due to the pandemic. Continued scr...eening of patients for clinical symptoms will take place when making appointments. Please advise reception staff if you are unwell. Social distancing protocols will remain in place in our waiting room for the continued safety of all patients and staff. We thank you for your co-operation with this as we continue forward. 12.01.2022 The sugar movement page on Facebook they have some great info on there. Here is a great diagram on trying to stick to foods that contain under 5g of sugar per 100 grams. It’s a rule we stick to to help prevent dental decay.
12.01.2022 Remember! Make a date with your toothbrush for at least 2 minutes twice a day.
12.01.2022 Tag someone who can relate! We all love cleaning the bathroom everytime the kids (or significant other) brushes their teeth right?

05.01.2022 One of our most FAQ is about teeth whitening. Is this something you have been thinking about too? Tooth whitening is a cosmetic procedure conducted by dentists with the aim of lightening the colour of a patients teeth. It works by breaking down the staining molecules that attach to teeth over time and removing the superficial discolouration, thereby revealing the underlying lighter and whiter natural colour of the tooth. We offer both take home and in chair treatments. Our clinicians will discuss your options and determine with you what is the best treatment modality to achieve your desired results. 04.01.2022 We want to highlight some of the services that our friendly team offer at Affordable Dental Care. This week we are discussing General Dentistry which includes examinations, radiographs, scale and cleans, oral hygiene and dietary adcice, restorations and fissure sealants. Believe it or not the fundamentals of good dentistry involve minimal or no actual treatment! One of our key ideals is ‘prevention is better than a cure.’ We believe with the right education and motivation t...he majority of all dental problems can be avoided. Taking ownership of your own oral health is the first step. We will work with you, as a team, to guide you to better oral health. THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION DEFINES ORAL HEALTH AS: A state of being free from mouth and facial pain, oral and throat cancer, oralinfection and sores, periodontal (gum) disease, tooth decay, tooth loss, and other diseases and disorders that limit an individual’s capacity in biting, chewing, smiling, speaking, and psychosocial wellbeing. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REALISE THAT GOOD ORAL HEALTH GOES WELL BEYOND JUST HAVING GOOD TEETH! WE ADVISE ALL OUR PATIENTS TO ATTEND FOR ROUTINE EXAMINATIONS AND CLEANS EVERY 6 MONTHS. This allows us to pick up any potential issues well in advance, as well as ensuring that you are maintaining good oral hygiene habits at home. To make an appointment, call 4946 5070
