AFFVS is more than happy to visit younger people with disabilities who have been placed in aged care facilities in Albany, Denmark or Mount Barker.

13.01.2022 It’s good to be home in stunning Albany but also bittersweet to be so far from the ones I love. But this view does help. Many people are challenged like myself with living far from family , feeling that pull and carrying the distress of not seeing their loved ones regularly. I’m familiar with the distress self imposed guilt and sometimes the cultural pressure of familial responsibility not being close to family can produce. Many people live away from their aged loved ones and... gave commitments elsewhere with work, little children, can’t easily travel themselves due to being aged themselves or having ill health. 05.01.2022 My mother cared for my father as he died at home how he had wished. It was exhausting for her but as always my mother did all she could for her husband. To all the carers out there supporting their loved one at the end of their life I salute you! But remember please to take care of yourself also and be open to support when you need it, there is no shame in accepting help or being kind to yourself. AFFVS is available to visit people who are palliative , at home , in care or in hospital.
