24.01.2022 Sometimes it's good to remember Masters football is about more than what happens on the field. Social support is a key element for many Masters clubs, and the networks run deep. If you've got a few minutes, read this story from Souths Sharks Masters AFC and see how far it can go. It's ok to talk about it if you feel you need help. Beyond Blue Lifeline

20.01.2022 As announced yesterday, all AFL and AFL State association leagues and competitions have been postponed until 31st May 2020, due to caronavirus concerns. This includes AFL Masters, and each State Association is managing the situation accordingly. At this stage, planning for the Perth 2020 National Carnival continues, in the hope the situation will have improved by the scheduled start date in late September.... The AFL update on COVID-19 from 17 March can be found here: https://play.afl/content/afl-update-covid-19-17-march-2020 An FAQ page on the postponement of community football can be found here: https://play.afl/covid-19/faqs We understand how frustrating a pause in our regular football activities can be, but community health and safety is paramount, especially given the higher risk the virus poses to older age groups.

20.01.2022 Wishing all AFL Masters players, participants, supporters, and their families a safe and happy Christmas, and a prosperous 2021, from everyone at AFL Masters National #FootyForFun

18.01.2022 AFL Masters appreciate it is difficult for players and their families to book anything for the Perth 2020 National Carnival, without knowing if the event is going ahead. At this stage, all we can say is we are exploring all possibilities, and our current timeline is to make a decision on the 1st of June, when the current AFL guidance period concludes. Of course, if anything changes before then, we will advise accordingly. Until then, our advice to anyone booking flights and a...ccommodation is to make their bookings transferable where possible. We have been in regular contact with the Perth Organising Committee and State Delegates over the last few weeks, to try and plot a way forward. The Perth Organizing Committee has also been engaging local stakeholders such as WA Tourism and the local footy associations in finding a solution. In the words of our national carnival patron Susan Alberti, "Stay well. We will get through this crisis. Aussies are tough."

17.01.2022 LAW CHANGES | AFL Masters will adopt all of the AFL 2019 changes for the 2020 National Carnival, EXCEPT the Laws regarding water carriers, 50m penalty (play on), and the 6-6-6 set up. Read more on the rule changes for the 2020 National Carnival here: http://aflmasters.com.au/laws-of-play/

17.01.2022 We know this has been online for about a week already, but we thought we'd give it another run, especially after we posted Pam's video on Wednesday. C'mon ladies, get pumped for Perth!

16.01.2022 CARNIVAL UPDATE | As announced earlier this week, due to CODIV-19 and all of its consequences, the 2020 AFL Masters National Carnival in Perth has been postponed until the same time in 2021. Exact dates will be confirmed after securing bulk accommodation, and locking down all venues and social functions. These dates will be advised as soon as possible. Following the decision to postpone the carnival, AFL Masters President Steve Eurell said, Thanks to all the hard work of the... Perth Organising Committee in preparation for the Perth National Carnival, and the tremendous support from Tourism WA, this Carnival won’t be lost, and it will now transfer to a much anticipated and fantastic carnival in 2021. The AFL Masters family has once again shown unity under pressure. The decision means that once restrictions are lifted and we are all back on the park in local Master’s competitions, each state will look at opportunities to host mini-carnivals at the end of the 2020 season. We will keep you informed about these opportunities.

15.01.2022 Special thanks to Tony Lovett for these photos from the Rob Nisbet Memorial Day in Canberra over the weekend. We hope to have more images to share this week. Great work to everyone involved for organising a fantastic showcase of women's Masters football.

02.01.2022 Who’s up for a game of Masters AFL Footy for Fun at the end of the Season? With this year’s AFL Masters National Carnival postponed to Perth 2021, we’re keen to explore the option of holding a Women’s mini carnival to finish off the season, probably in early to mid-October, somewhere along the NSW south coast or in regional Victoria, at a holiday style resort with good grounds and some great weather. While the venue and game format would depend on numbers, there are a few p...otential locations that would make a great (long awaited) holiday destination and could provide reasonable accommodation options. With minimal playing expenses and a shorter schedule, it would be a great opportunity to catch up with mates from around the country while getting your fix of social football for the year. Introducing new players to our brand of football may also help with recruitment for next year’s carnival in Perth. At this stage we are seeking interest (via survey) from players who would like to participate in this event. Then, depending on the level of response, we can start to formalise arrangements. Of course, the result will still be dependent on whatever state/national COVID policies are in place at the time. So, for those who have missed their footy this season or have friends they’d like to introduce to AFL Masters, now’s the time to put your hand up so we can get this carnival off the ground. Please complete the following survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5ZFV2NW or reply via email to [email protected] before 10th July, and we will keep you in the loop as more details become available. Any questions, give me a call. I hope we can make this happen and then... I’ll look forward to catching up. Pam Andrew National Women's Director AFL Masters 0414 587 308
