22.01.2022 In recognition of NAIDOC Week, we spoke to Gold Coast Suns defender and proud Indigenous man Jarrod Harbrow about his passion for mentoring young people through creating a nurturing, culturally supportive and inclusive environment with Harbrow Mentoring Australia, how he celebrates his Indigenous heritage and the importance of this year’s theme: Always was, always will be.

21.01.2022 Finally, after 267 games, the modern-day great gets his first crack at a premiership on Saturday night. Drafted to the Adelaide Football Club in 2007, Patrick Dangerfield made steady progress in his first four seasons before an eye-catching, breakout 2012 year. It saw the explosive midfield bull rewarded with his first All-Australian jacket, a feat he has achieved in every season since, including vice captaincy in 2018 and captaincy in 2020. After claiming Adelaide’s best and... fairest in 2015, Dangerfield was traded to the Geelong Cats as he returned to his native Moggs Creek. In his first year as a Cat, he won the Brownlow Medal, Leigh Matthews Trophy as the AFLPA’s MVP, and Geelong’s best and fairest, which he also claimed in 2017 and 2019. A preliminary finalist in 2012, 2016, 2017, and 2019, 2020 sees the eight-time All-Australian finally presented with his first chance at a flag as he makes his Grand Final debut. : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

21.01.2022 Is Dustin Martin the greatest #AFLFinals player of the modern era? The Richmond FC midfielder has been voted by the fans as the MVP for the preliminary finals, presented by Drummond Golf. : https://aflplaye.rs/2TgGr8w

18.01.2022 Australia’s state leagues have been known for their hidden draft gems and it would be hard to look past Richmond FC's Kane Lambert as the most decorated. After missing out on the draft as a junior and a four-year stint with the Northern Bullants and Williamstown Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL), Lambert seized his opportunity when the Tigers called his name with pick No. 46 in the 2015 rookie draft. Despite a slow start to his AFL dream, Lambert hasn’t looked back. Since debuting in Round 2, 2015, he’s played 113 games, played a crucial role in both of the Tigers’ premierships as a crafty half-forward and become a much-loved figure at Tigerland. : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

17.01.2022 Irish GWS Giants player Bríd Stack has already seen more of Australia than she bargained for thanks to COVID-19. But the Gaelic football champion is making the most of her time getting used to playing a different code.

15.01.2022 An apprentice carpenter and well-known local footballer, Tom Stewart's talent was recognised in 2013 by South Barwon Football & Netball Club coach and legendary Geelong Cats defender Matthew Scarlett. Sacrificing the chippy’s diet in order to improve his physique, Stewart joined Geelong’s Victorian Football League (VFL) team in 2016. Later that year, he became an AFL player, drafted to the Cats with pick 40. Remarkably, Stewart then played 21 games in his debut season before becoming an All-Australian defender in both 2018 and 2019. Now, an inspiration to many and one of the best medium-sized defenders in the game, Stewart will play a key role in his first Grand Final appearance on Saturday night. #AFLGF : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

13.01.2022 Early in his captaincy, questions were asked of Trent Cotchin's leadership but after leading Richmond FC to three consecutive finals series (2013-15), a cultural reset and their drought-breaking premiership in 2017, the naysayers were silenced. The 250-gamer is one of Richmond’s most decorated players with three Jack Dyer Medals to his name, a Brownlow Medal and an All Australian blazer. Cotchin was also recognised by his peers in 2018 as the AFL Players’ Association’s Best C...aptain. This year, he became the longest-serving Richmond captain, taking over from Percy Bentley’s 168-game record from 1932-1940, which also included two flags. If the Tigers prevail over Geelong, Cotchin will also become the first Richmond captain to lead the club to three premierships a far cry from the 2016 end-of-season Richmond board challenge when the Tigers’ future was widely questioned and debated #AFLGF : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

12.01.2022 Universally admired in the AFL industry, Bachar Houli’s 2020 campaign has thrown up a few more curveballs than one could have expected. After missing the season-opener against Carlton due to a calf strain, Houli returned in Round 2 with a best-on-ground performance. As the Coronavirus pandemic situation worsened in Victoria and hubs were introduced, Houli made the decision to stay in Melbourne following the birth of his third child. During this time, Houli’s mum was also infe...cted with COVID-19 but has since recovered. After a unique start to his year, Houli entered the two-week quarantine phase in Queensland to re-join the Richmond squad for the remainder of the season. His work as a rebounding defender has been pivotal to Richmond FC's premiership defence and he’ll be looking to add a third premiership medallion to his glowing football resume. : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

10.01.2022 "For me, being in a same-sex relationship, it’s comforting to see so many people coming together to voice inclusivity and to do it for those who haven’t had a chance to have a voice."

08.01.2022 Delisted by the Geelong Cats at the end of the 2019 season, not even Henderson’s wildest dreams could have plotted a 2020 Grand Final in the blue and white hoops. But when Ryan Abbott decided to join St Kilda in last year’s player exchange period, a spot on Geelong’s list reopened, which they used to redraft Henderson as a rookie. Forcing his way back into the Cats’ backline in round 8, Henderson has only missed one game since, and played a key role in the preliminary final win over Brisbane. Henderson’s 13-year career has seen two seasons at Brisbane, six at Carlton, and five at Geelong, both as a key defender and forward. And it all culminates in a Grand Final debut this Saturday night. : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

08.01.2022 The families of Geelong Cats footballers took a big risk by deciding to quarantine in Darwin in the hope their sons' team would make it through to the #AFLGrandFinal

07.01.2022 Rugby’s really helped me with having a quick step, being aware of people around me, who’s coming at me, and also tackling, that’s a big thing in rugby." Courtney Hodder made an impressive debut for the Brisbane Lions.

05.01.2022 Tomorrow's #AFLGrandFinal is history-making - from the first premiership decider at the Gabba to being played at night - and, as a result, for many friends and families of the Richmond FC and Geelong Cats players they will be watching from their homes around Australia. Here are their messages of support ahead of the big game

03.01.2022 After an impressive three-goal haul the Fremantle Dockers' Gemma Houghton has been voted as the fans' MVP of the Week for Round 1

02.01.2022 Defender Noah Balta will be the only Richmond FC player taking to the field this weekend to play in his first AFL Grand Final. The 20-year-old, who joined the club with pick No. 25 following their 2017 flag, missed out on last year’s AFL premiership after playing 12 games in the first half of the season and in the Tigers’ Round 23 win over the Brisbane Lions. Instead, Balta was part of Richmond’s VFL premiership side. When David Astbury was sidelined earlier this season with a knee injury, Balta embraced his chance to regain his spot in the team and hasn’t looked back since, culminating in his inaugural selection in the AFLPA’s #22Under22 side and his first chance at an AFL flag #AFLGF

01.01.2022 After the heartbreak of missing out on the 2019 Grand Final having played the first 13 matches of the 2019 season and a further three games after that, Richmond FC's Kamdyn McIntosh returned to the side’s senior line-up in Round 4 of this year and hasn’t looked back. McIntosh had a delayed started to the 2020 season following a syndesmosis injury sustained on a pre-season training camp and then failing to earn selection in Round 1, before the season was put on a hiatus. Since regaining his position in the best-22, the winger has averaged 13.6 touches and 3.31 inside-50s and will be looking to add to his 2017 premiership medal this Saturday #AFLGF : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS

01.01.2022 Zach Tuohy and Geelong Cats teammate Mark O’Connor will become the first Irishmen to feature on the Grand Final stage since Tadhg Kennelly in 2006. Since being traded from Carlton at the end of the 2016 season, Tuohy has become an integral member of the Cats’ side playing in defence for the majority of his time and on the wing and as a half-forward in 2020. Tuohy, who hails from Portlaloise, Laois in Ireland, is a dangerous player because of his ability to carry lines with his long right boot and his sound finishing in front of goal. Tuohy’s goal in the fourth quarter of the preliminary final against the Lions was definitive in the result, which is not the first time he has delivered a clutch goal. His heroics after the siren against Melbourne in 2018 emphasised Tuohy’s big-game ability #AFLGF : aflplaye.rs/3kcvDUS
