14.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is 8th-15th of November 2020 This years theme: Always Was, Always Will Be. Recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future.... NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be. www.naidoc.org.au

07.01.2022 Mental Health Week will run 9-16 October 2021 and fosters the creation, curation, and organisation of a range of resources, activities, events, factsheets, tips, and strategies in the lead up to, and during, the week. Coordinated by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health, with support from the WA Mental Health Commission, Mental Health Week provides a prime opportunity to address and highlight the important connection between social determinants and mental healt...h; and promote effective prevention strategies to keep people mentally healthy. Given how critical the early years are for lifelong brain development and functioning, learning, and wellbeing, the theme for Mental Health Week 2021 in Western Australia will be: Mental health starts with our children. The theme recognises how a person’s mental health reflects the interaction of a lifetime of individual and lifestyle factors with a range of environmental, community and family risk factors. For both children and adults, taking care of basic needs for shelter, food, warmth and rest are essential to mental wellbeing. 06.01.2022 Dear #SaveFVPLS Supporters We want to say thank you to each of you for continuing to support our work to end family violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly our women and children. We have been working tirelessly over the past few months with the Coalition of Peaks on Closing the Gap - pushing for a strong target on family violence that will deliver real change for our people. The end of the three month period of further work on the family v...iolence target is drawing near, and we are standing firm on the need for a strong, ambitious, numerical target to end family violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. With 31 December 2020 now less than two months away, The National FVPLS Forum are racing against the clock to #SaveFVPLS. Our members have been working closely over the past months with our consultants, exploring options to ensure a self-determined, sustainable and well-resourced national body for FVPLSs beyond 31 December 2020. We are standing united in our commitment to self-determination but the reality remains that we have no direct funding for our National FVPLS Forum beyond the end of the year. We need you - our supporters - to stand with us now more than ever in our struggle to #SAVEFVPLS and to ensure our existence beyond 31 December 2020. HOW YOU CAN HELP The National FVPLS Forum still has no direct funding beyond 31 December 2020. Please help keep us visible and heard: 1. If you know someone needing help - please pass them the number for their nearest FVPLS 2. Donate to your nearest FVPLS 3. Follow the National Forum on Twitter and Facebook 4. Share this email with your contacts so they can join our #SaveFVPLS supporter list Thank you for your solidarity and support. National FVPLS Forum Members 4 November 2020 Thank you for your support!
