Shopify Unite is the annual event for Shopify partners and experts. It provides an opportunity to hear directly from Shopify, about what they have been doing and the advancements coming ahead. It brings together the Shopify community from around the world, so we can meet and learn from each other. 17.01.2022 Shopify & Mailchimp Break-up If you are running a Shopify e-commerce store and utilising MailChimp for your email automation, you would likely have seen the news that Shopify and Mailchimp are no longer working together. In short, the app Mailchimp for Shopify is no longer listed in Shopifys app store for new downloads and on May 12th of this year, Shopify will no longer support the Mailchimp integration.... You can read more about it here from Mailchimp: https://mailchimp.com/shopify-statement/ So, what does this mean? Before May 12th you will need to make some changes so that you do not lose your integration between the two services. It is worth considering how you are currently using Mailchimp and what you want to do going forward. Here are some options: Stay with Mailchimp ================= 1. Install Mailchimp code to your site If you are only using Mailchimp to manage sign-ups to your email list, then you can embed some Mailchimp code into your Shopify store to keep the link between the two (as the app will no longer work). Mailchimp have advised that This method allows you to use pop-up forms and Google remarketing ads, but doesnt support other e-commerce features like product recommendations and reports. 2. Third-party Integration If you are using additional automations with Mailchimp which many stores do (such as abandoned carts) then you will need to utilise a third-party integration that links the two services together. Mailchimp have identified the following third-party integrations that can link the two services: ShopSync, Zapier and Automate.io For more information about the features of these integrations and steps to set up https://mailchimp.com/help/shopify-workarounds/ Change Email Marketing Provider ========================= Many stores start out with Mailchimp as their email marketing provider when building an online store. It was easy to set up and met the initial needs of your store. With the integration between the two no longer in place, it is worth considering your options and looking at other services in the market. 07.01.2022 Australia Post has started a new subscription service called Shipster that qualifies subscribers to free delivery at a range of large retailers. Hopefully this will be opened up to smaller online retailers to get on board as well.

02.01.2022 Black Friday Sales Interesting to see the stats from Black Friday come in. Shopify did sales of over US$900m this year (up from US$573 in 2018) Of that 69% of that were on mobile. A good reminder to make sure your focus is on your mobile site.
