25.01.2022 We are officially registered as a COVID safe business. We are doing our part to keep our customers, audience & the community in general, safe.

23.01.2022 Time for a good news story. It's a long one, but here's what Greg Hall, Assistant Principal at Altona Meadows Primary School had to say: "I am so glad we were able to have the performance at the school. Both Appiah and Yoga (I apologise for any misspelling!) were marvellous performers and had the kids enthralled. With the chaos and uncertainty that is going on around the world at the moment, it was just wonderful to see the students and teachers focusing on something else! I... have had many positive responses from both teachers and students about the show. Many parents spoke to me today and told me how their child or children couldn’t stop talking about the drumming and acrobatics on the way home. They thanked me for allowing it to go ahead but I think you deserve the thanks for taking extra precautions to ensure it could go on safely. If any school is /was considering cancelling I’m happy for them to give me a call about how we were able to hold the performance outside and how we cleaned each drum and our hands. Even today I have seen some of the writing and drawing students have been doing about the incursion and they are still talking about it. In my wife’s class, they are using it in their writing stimulus books. I will send you a couple of pictures they have done. One 6 year old’s drawing of Yoga flipping is amazing! Once again thank-you for coming out. As an ex-music teacher (I doubt if I can ever become an ex-music teacher as I still run as many music groups as I can at the school even though it takes up most of my break time!) it was so enjoyable to see the kids playing those drums. I went home, for the first time in a while, feeling relaxed and happy that we had had a normal school day, albeit one with a lot of musical excitement and fun! (Probably helped that I spent most of the time watching the performance rather than being in the office!!). No kids were talking about the ‘virus’ cause the drums had blown all that away! We would love to invite you again in the future. Please pass on my thanks to both Appiah and Yoga. They were a big hit."

22.01.2022 With many businesses being affected by COVID-19, we are feeling grateful to today’s school that has chosen to go ahead with their booking outside. We are all holding onto this feeling of business as usual (with many extra precautions) and joining together in an uplifting experience at this unprecedented time of uncertainty. The show must go on! #ilostmygig

14.01.2022 #Repost @ayicentres How can a small community library make a difference??? It provides the opportunity for our youth with talents to shine and elevate even when faced with poverty and inequality. Read William's story below TED Wrote of him At age 14, in poverty and famine, a Malawian boy built a windmill to power his family’s home. Now at 22, William Kamkwamba, who speaks at TED, here, for the second time, shares in his own words the moving tale of invention that changed ...his life. William was educated at Wimbe Primary School, completing 8th grade and was then accepted to Kachokolo secondary school. Due to severe famine in 2001, his family lacked the funds to pay the $80 in annual school fees and William was forced to drop out of school a few months into his freshman year. For five years he was unable to go to school. Starting at 14, rather than accept his fate, William started borrowing books from a small community lending library located at his former primary school. He borrowed an 8th grade American textbook, Using Energy, which depicted wind turbines on its cover. He decided to build a windmill to power his family’s home and obviate the need for kerosene, which provided only smoky, flickering, distant and expensive light after dark. Great story.. to read more about Williams story of how a small library changed his life and his community go to www.williamkamkwamba.com . . #library #opportunity #learning #inspiration #mentor #africa #africankids #ghana #ghanaeducation #changemakers

13.01.2022 We are currently taking extra precautions (including regularly disinfecting all drums) for the schools that have chosen to go ahead with our shows. It’s important to keep a sense of normality to care for the anxiety levels in our young people. We respect all decisions at this unprecedented time but will be eternally grateful to those that helped us still perform to earn what we can during a tumultuous time for our industry. . . .... #ilostmygig #ilostmygigau #covid_19 #covid19australia #covid19goodnews #africanbeat #africandrummingworkshop #africandrummers #africanincursion #incursion See more
