19.01.2022 Being a ranger on the ground in Africa makes for some truly incredible experiences, as can been seen in this remarkable moment with @jamessuter and a fellow ranger. In this clip, you can see @jamessuter moving behind the tree under the Ranger’s instruction. James was also a Ranger for the same company at the time - and if they had been on a walk in South Africa where James was based - things would have been the other way around! James would have been leading the walk and the... other Ranger behind him, listening to instruction. Only one trained Guide leads a walk - and takes on the responsibility to instruct and protect those with him. Whether it be working around dangerous animals, championing the environment or getting the perfect camera shot, the challenges are never ending. Stay tuned, as over the coming weeks, our new conservation series with @jamessuter and his @blackbeanproductions team will keep rolling out. In the meantime, keep falling in love with Africa over and over again.

15.01.2022 #EOGConservation: The photo was shot at Senkwekwe orphanage in DRC's Virunga national park - the only one of its kind in the world. The work that André Bauma (pictured) and his colleagues do in this, Africa's oldest park, is some of the most important and (sadly) least publicised conservation work on this planet. Some of the gorillas are victims of poaching, others were orphaned when their mothers were deliberately murdered by rebel forces. Either way the goal is to return th...em to the wild where rangers protect 60% of the world's remaining mountain gorillas - just 600 animals - living in Virunga. Despite its environmental riches the political instability in DRC understandably deters many would-be tourists, ironically depriving the park of the very income it needs to survive. If this image can persuade just a handful of people to support the park either financially or even by going to see this amazing place for themselves. #EOGFavourites captured by @jamesgiff See more
14.01.2022 Caracals are medium-sized wild cats native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and India. They are a threatened species due to habitat loss and hunting. This rescued caracal at a sanctuary in South Africa is fed daily. The meat is tossed over the fence to allow them some amount of exercise. Their lithe, agile bodies and strong rear legs gives them the burst of energy required to get their prey all the time.... As seen in the video, these unassuming felines can jump 10-22 feet from a standing start. This one seems to have jumped over 15 feet high. In the wild however, their rate of success in landing a meal may not be as successful due to insufficient prey animals in their habitat.
