20.01.2022 HOORAY! The African Violets and Gesneriads Society of WA will be reopening next Saturday, 20 June, at the Manning Senior Citizens Centre, 3 Downey Road, Manning. The meeting will commence at 1pm but you may come a little earlier to see the plants on display, if you like. Entry to the venue is $2 each. 18.01.2022 Tomorrow's meeting of the African Violet Society (18 July, 2020) will be held at the Manning Senior Citizens Centre - entry is $2. Members arrive around noon and if there are plants to sell, they will be available from around 12.15pm. The meeting itself commences at 1pm. Non-members can only purchase one plant, otherwise there may be none for members themselves to buy. Pictured are the African Violets growing on my northwest-facing window, with an alsonite roof outdoors, which helps filter the light. They're very happy here!
17.01.2022 My Rebel's Splatter Kake is doing spectacular things!
15.01.2022 Our African Violets and Gesneriads of WA Society will be meeting again this Saturday, 15 August. Members begin arriving around noon and the meeting itself commences at 1pm and lasts for roughly 90 minutes. Non-members may purchase one plant prior to the meeting, if they wish. As part of this week's program, there will be a demonstration on how to properly pot African Violets in wicking pots. New members would be most welcome! (And pictured here are more of my sill-grown AVs - happy in filtered sunlight.)
15.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are very sorry to announce that all our monthly meetings for the foreseeable future have been cancelled owing to concerns around the corona virus. Sadly also the May show and our involvement with the September Garden Clubs & Societies Plant Fair have had to be cancelled as well. We will keep followers of this Facebook page informed of developments and will notify people when our meetings etc can resume.

14.01.2022 Another beautiful African Violet from Reiko Lee. This is "Fumako Tineke", a chimera that cannot simply be struck from a leaf, like most other AVs. To followers of this Facebook page, we will advise you here when our club can reopen for sales, meetings etc.
13.01.2022 This is Spring Festival, grown in an oversized cup and saucer by one of our clever members! Our next club meeting is at 1pm on Saturday, 15 February, at Manning Senior Citizens Centre. Guests are welcome and may purchase a plant ahead of the meeting if they like.
12.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE: We have just this afternoon been advised that the March meeting of the African Violet Society has been cancelled. Most of our members are elderly and in light of the current corona virus situation, it has been decided to cancel this month's meeting for the sake of members and guests. We hope we can resume our meetings soon and will keep people informed on this Facebook page. We are sorry for any disappointment...

05.01.2022 The purpose of our Society is for enthusiasts to get together and share knowledge and tips on the care of African Violets. Members sell and exchange plants with one another prior to our meetings, however visiting non-members may only purchase one plant. We always welcome new members but regret that depending on the month and the time of year, we may not have many plants to sell to the public.
