25.01.2022 TOUR OF BRIGHT - Stage 2 Tawonga Gap Cyrus Monk took at a well-deserved 3rd place on todays stage, moving him into 5th place overall at +0.40s. The AWSCT still leads the teams classification. The day started well with both Cyrus and Jeremy getting into the break which stayed away. The break built up a lead of around 3 minutes by the feed zone at 81km and had about 6 minutes over the peoloton. Hitting the bottom of Towonga Gap, the breakaway still had about 2 minutes over the... chasing group. Jezza Cameron and Sam Hill had 40 seconds on the break at the base and put in a solid performance before hitting the wall with about 3km to go. Cyrus then took over and took out 3rd place. Well done lads. 18.01.2022 A hard day for all riders, but a super hard day for others. Michael Schweizer was 6th in the bunch sprint. But our hats off to Tyson Chambers who was in the break for something like 210km before eventually being caught. A superb and gutsy effort. Also a great attacking ride late in the race by local boy Darcy Woolley. Darcys ride really got the commentators excited with the prospects of a local boy winning the race. When Darcy was eventually caught the commentatotors had to ...resort to a "local boy" from Mt Gambier!!! Our congratulations to other other riders for their performance on the day. Also thanks to Matt, Anthony and Josh our support crew on the day. 18.01.2022 RIDE TO THE DIVIDE with AWSCT sponsor Airport Toyota. When you participate in the Ride to the Divide you aren't just participating in a bike race. You're a part of a bigger movement, aiding in raising much needed funds for two charities. The Les Twentyman OAM's 20th Man Fund supports homeless, disadvantaged and disconnected youth with the vision that every young person deserves a future free of poverty, abuse, violence, discrimination and isolation. You're also helping the Ujamaa Children's Home in Tanzania, which houses orphaned children in a safe and nurturing family environment, educating them and giving them ongoing support as they grow into adults.

15.01.2022 CYRUS MONK TAKES 3RD BELGIAN WIN 43rd Gran Prix Patrick Lefevre RUMBEKE (110km) - 18/7/2016 Report: Stephen Cameron... An exceptionally good ride today saw former African Wildlife Safaris Cycling Team member Cyrus Monk take 1st place ahead of the bunch, making this Cyruss 3rd win in his 4 weeks in Belgium. HOW IT HAPPENED The Aussie contingent was out in force in todays race with 16 out of the 87 starters! Three former African Wildlife Safaris Cycling Team members raced, Tyler Spurrell, Jeremy Cameron and Cyrus Monk. There were 22 laps of a tight 5 km course with about 500m of cobbles thrown in for good measure. The temperature was up, hitting about 28C, sunny and humid. A break got away after 2-3 laps with Jeremy Cameron (Swiss Wellness Cycling Team), Sam Evans (Pats Veg) and Ben Carman (I believe) (Mobius Future Racing). The break worked well together and their maximum advantage got out to just on 1 minute before the peloton reeled them back in with 4 laps remaining. With 3 laps to go Cyrus Monk initiated an attack and 3 riders got away and held the chasing bunch until well into the main straight which was about 1.5 km long. As the peloton started to close in Cyrus Monk broke clear with about 400 metres to go and held on for a very good win into a head wind and slight uphill finish. Darcy Pirotta, also an Aussie also made the podium in 3rd place. Sam Evans (also Pats Veg) managed a top 10 finish with 7th place. Well done Cyrus, Darcy and Sam. All up with the breakaway it was a pretty good showing by our Aussie lads. The Pats Veg Team head back to Australia after 4 weeks in Belgium.

13.01.2022 A mixed day for the AWS team today. Micky Schweizer attacked early and took the Stage Agressor award, as well as the Sprint Jersey. Pat Lane and Sean Lake negotiated the Gunns Plain climb and finished in the bunch. Pat now sits 3rd on GC and Sean is 5th. The team car suffered a puncture on the downhill into Gunns Plain and then the car rolled off the jack, so Steve Waite and the crew took the remainder of the race to catch back on! Jezza Cameron also punctured on the downhil...l just before the Gunns Plain climb and unfortunately was not able to get back on. 10.01.2022 TWO FORMER AWS RIDERS ON THE RISE.. Sean Lake and Pat Lane who both rode with the AWS Cycling Team for part of 2014 & for the 2015 season had exceptional rides at the Australian Road National Championships in Buninyong this week. In 2016 both riders have taken the next step in their careers with Avanti IsoWhey Sports Cycling Team and FTP Training. Sean Lake showed his enormous potential on Thursday in a blistering display of power riding to come 3rd in the National Time Tria...l Championship. Following on from his sensational back to back win in Octobers Grafton to Inverell Classic, Sean looks set for a terrific 2016, onwards and upwards. After departing Baku Cycling Team in mid-2013, Pat returned home to Australia to rebuild his career. Over the past 18 months with the African Wildlife Safaris Cycling Team, Pat has returned to his early career potential, and that has showed today taking 3rd place in the Australian National Road Championships, a race in which only 15 riders finished. Moving to the proven AvantiIsoWhey team is a great step for Pat, and he also looks certain to have a great 2016 year ahead of him. Our best wishes to both Sean and Pat for 2016.

01.01.2022 PRESS RELEASE - Tuesday 20th October 2015 It is with sadness and regret that the African Wildlife Safaris Cycling Team announces that it will not at this point in time be racing in 2016. To dispel any rumours in the cycling world, the team will continue racing and honour its sponsorship commitments until the end December 2015, and is winding down gracefully. The team was set up by Steve Cameron and Steve Waite in 2012 with financial sponsorship from African Wildlife Safaris. ...Continue reading
