21.01.2022 Time to share: Part 2 of 3 A little elderly lady once told me that the AW Tree will flower in the 2nd yr. As time has gone by i thought i knew what i had to do, it was time to experiment, so can you imagine when i told my wife Joanne that i was pruning half of her AW Tree pot plants at the end of the 1st month of winter, she of course warned me if you stuff them up!!!, i will leave the rest of the conversation to your imagination. part 3 is coming. 20.01.2022 "3 Easy Steps To Achieve The Looks Of Your Tree" I am referring to the picture in this post. this technique can be also be used on Pot plants & all manageable trees . Firstly notice that the trunk of the tree is approximately 1 m in length . Secondly the radius of the branches are approximately 1.4 m long. Step 1: Choose the height you want the tree trunk, prune above a set of leaves, wait 2 weeks for your branches to appear let them grow to .500 mm long you may need to prune... right back & leaving at least 1 node from the trunk to achieve more branches till you get the number of branches you want. Step 2: While your tree is young the branches will grow upright.Once the branches are to the length of the Radius you want, tie the branches with rope individually with there own weights.(tie the rope without damaging the branch) Keep adjusting the tension till your branches are Horizontal. The upper side of the horizontal branches will re-shoot because the up side is facing the sun. Once your re-shoots are .300 mm long then release the tension, if you are not happy with your branches re-tension. Step 3: You can repeat step 2 to as many new branches you want once they are at the length you want , Remember you have 4 yrs to get your tree established & you prune your A W Tree when your bloom is finished. Please KEEP in mind that your tree is deciduous ,When Winter arrives it is important to stop watering & Gently pull the mulch back with out damaging any roots, Drying out will cause enough stress for your tree to set sprays of flower in spring. Maturity is 4 yrs old & then they do handle short periods of drought. Happy Gardening,

14.01.2022 We have a Bloom

13.01.2022 Hi to all, I had a enquiry this morning from an Atherton client bring to my attention that the A.W.Tree are not going in a deciduious state , i had thought that the soil was to good but after pondering i think that mother nature has given some rain at the wrong time, which did'nt allow the trees to stress & go through it deciduious state . As we are all learning one can hope that once trees are older & bigger that a little winter rain won't bother them, Yes we still have 2 months of spring left , it could be a late bloom. 12.01.2022 African wisteria Tree do loose there leaves. Hi all, just a reminder, the African Wisteria trees leaves will turn yellow for a period of time before they fall off, I have notice that 2 n 3 yrs old trees are doing the same. Please rest assured they are not dead. Happy Gardening.

08.01.2022 How To Train Branches How to train your African Wisteria Vertical branches to the Horizontal position. There would be many methods of achieving this task. First Method: You can use a hollow concrete block with a rope attached to the block & the branch, so the branch end of the rope would be positioned 3/4 of the way to the tip of the branch.Gentle tension the rope every few days or so, till the branches are in the horizontal position, you will see after a period of time sho...ots will appear right along the upper side of the branch. The reason is because the branch is in the horizontal position it want to grow upwards towards the sun. Method Two: We used this Method on our big tree on the footpath , there was a branch on the eastern side that the strong winds would't allow the branch to droop, we used a star picket as the anchor & a ratchet tie down. After a period of time we needed to re position the anchor we choose the trunk of our Cassia tree & then we re-tension the AW tree branch. So have fun using these techniques. 07.01.2022 Beginners Pruning Guide For the best regrowth prune Spring through to the end of Autumn . Pot Plant Miniature / Shrub: By the end of Three yrs you would like to aim for a thick small tree/shrub & then look forward to your African Wisteria first bloom. This is only to give you an idea, you can decide on how big you wish to grow your A W T 's .... Example: 1.2 m tall x 1.2 m wide would be easy to look after, you may even choose a smaller . 1: Once the branches have reach a growth of .400 mm long you then prune the branch back to .200 mm in length. 2: Within 2 weeks you may get up to 3 re shoots per branch 3: you then repeat step 1. Note : only if you are not happy with 1 re shoot opposed to 3 re shoots you can either let the branch grow to the .400 mm length & then prune back leaving 1 bud or you may choose not to wait for the regrowth & prune the branch back by 1 bud, so to keep the branches close to the same length , or you may choose not too. New shoots: I have seen A W Trees shoot branches from the bottom of the trunk within 2 to 3 yrs. If you wish to keep your A W as a tree & not a Shrub you prune the new shoots to keep the trunk clean, for shrub you keep the new shoots & develop them as mentioned. Out Doors small tree/shrub The same applies as mentioned above P P Miniature 1 2 3 with slightly greater numbers. Example you may choose to prune or pinch the top of the A W between 1 to 2 m tall , & the branches between .600 mm to 1 m in length.& repeating step 1 2 & 3. Shade Trees There are 2 options . 1: you can prune a 2 yrs old A W Tree in Spring to promote a dense vigorous regrowth . or 2: you may want your A W Tree to take it's own course. All Mature A W Tree Bloom is Spring to mid Summer it may differ a little from the top of Queensland to bottom of our state & pruning is straight after bloom is finished. I hope the above will guide you all . HAPPY Gardening See more

04.01.2022 Part 3 ; 2yr old Pot plant or in ground small shrub / tree. At the end of the first month of Winter i pruned the A. W.'s & stop watering ( be aware the the pot plants will end up super dry opposed to ground soil meaning you may need to pull the ground mulch away from the base of your tree to allow the soil to dry out.), so this allows the A. W.'s to stress & allowing the deciduous process to take place. Then in the middle of Spring instead of leaves stems appeared, the elderly lady was 100% right , the A. W .'s had sprays of flowers . We have recently posted some photo's. Happy Gardening

01.01.2022 Just A Reminder Pot plants & small ornament trees , Spring through to the end of Summer is push for growth & Pruning for the first 3 yrs.Happy Gardening
