22.01.2022 Dear Filhos da Bahia students, parents and friends, It is with a heavy heart that we have to cancel this week’s Batizado due to the uncertain conditions and restrictions regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. The new restrictions on international travellers mean that none of our guest travelling to Australia from today would have been able to attend the event due to the 14 days isolation now required for international travellers. We also want to avoid our community t...o be exposed to persons they don’t normally interact with during their normal day to day routines. As we stated earlier, we will keep an eye on the government recommendations and comply. The current guidelines do not go against the normal routine of the classes, so as of today, classes continue as normal. Regarding Flavour of Bahia event (19th of March), it is cancelled for the general public. For the students and parents who were planning to attend, we will have a smaller dinner night at the school as a lot of the ingredients were already bought and ready. We will contact you with further details regarding that night at the school. The Brazil Axé Night Party (21st of March) at Copacabana International is cancelled. For these events, tickets holders will be issued a refund via TryBooking. Once again, we are very sad to have to cancel this week’s festivities, but the current conditions are not allowing to have an enjoyable and safe event. However, we have already looked at all our options and we are rescheduling the event, you can already save the dates: Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th of September 2020. Some airlines are also agreeing to reschedule flights at no fee, so having a date to request a reschedule can help for our international and interstate guests. We are sorry once again to have to cancel but we will always do our best to protect our community and with the information we have today we feel it is the best decision. 04.01.2022 Afro-Brazilian percussions classes kicked off today at Capoeira Filhos Da Bahia Australia school with 7 people including myself. After 4 weeks, an Afro-Brazilian dance class will follow the percussion class with people attending the percussion class offering live music to the dancers. It will give the dancers a unique class frame and give the percussionists the opportunity to practice live music allowing them to develop their skills and match the rhythms with the moves they a...re associated to. Percussions classes are limited to 12 people. Classes will go as follow: - 2pm to 3pm: Afro-Brazilian Percussions - 3pm to 4pm: Afro-Brazilian Dance + Live Afro-Brazilian Percussions We will keep you posted about the exact date the dance classes will start. 04.01.2022 Hi all, I am just passing to confirm the list of those who are doing the Afro-brazilian percussion class this Saturday at 2pm. Please let me know if you’re coming. This week we will finalise the Ijexa rhythm we did last Saturday and will start on Barravento. Barravento is a hot rhythm, perhaps the hottest of the rhythms performed in Candomblé, in the nation of Angola. Rum, Pi, Le and Agogô will be the instruments we will practice.... It is a rhythm (beat) quicker and hotter than Ijexa, it is the favorite touch of Xangô, in the Bantu candomblés and also, the anxiety that dominates the daughter-of-santo before the arrival of the orixá. The rhythm (beat) follows a sometimes accelerated cadence and is cyclic, that is, there is no standard start and end point. See more
