24.01.2022 Here’s the thing, in 10 years the baby will not remember who first held them, but the mother will forever remember who held her.

23.01.2022 To people visiting during postpartum - as much as you just want to oooh and ahhh over my baby - please check in with me. Ask me if I need anything, like a drink or something to eat. Please offer to tidy up or clean the dishes. I might say no, so please ask again and remind me it’s okay to accept help. Tell me I am an amazing Mother. Tell me I look radiant. Tell me I suit being a Mum. Fluff my feathers. I might not feel good about myself right now. Please don’t ask to hold my ...baby. I might not be ready to let go just yet. I am rediscovering myself and this baby and I’m learning how to breastfeed and do things one handed. If I am ready, I will happily let you hold my baby. Please ask me about me and my baby, but also talk to me about things from before. I might need a really good cry because things aren’t the same and I’m struggling. Please be gentle with me. Hold me. Love me. Thank you. See more

22.01.2022 Boobs are AMAZING...Let’s say this louder so the people in the back can hear...BOOBS ARE AMAZING! And if you’ve chosen to breastfeed, then kudos to you because it’s bloody (pun intended) hard! Yep, those early days can see you with raw, cracked and sometimes even bleeding nipples (I was there!) Ouchie Mama. BUT...because I was there and don’t want to see any of you in that place with nothing to soothe you, I put together this BOOBIE BEAUTY. She will soothe you till your hearts content

22.01.2022 Postpartum Self Care Rest. Snuggle with that beautiful baby if yours. Accept help when offered. Stop trying to do it all. The days can feel long but oh my, the years are short, so enjoy those special moments while you can. Emotional video by @mother.ly

21.01.2022 HOW TO SUPPORT A NEW MUM FROM FAR Wondering how you can support a new mum from a distance? Think back to how postpartum was for you...then add to that an extra layer of isolation right now. Being there in person may not be a possibility ...but here are a few things that are: 1. Listen without judgment ... 2. A virtual class (doula suport, newborn care, breastfeeding) 3. Remind her to eat - its easy to skip meals 4. Send her a thoughtful care package she needs 5. Check-in with her emotions. Text are great but calls are even better. 6. Offer to drop-off needed groceries at her door. 7. FaceTime, Whatsapp video, Skype - see her face. Its hard to hide things when you can see face to face. In this time of so much worry and uncertainty, those little things are really BIG things. What did you need? Add it below so friends and family know. : @bumpdated #prepareforpostpartum #Repost @coddledotco See more

17.01.2022 Hospital bag packing - what were your must haves? Let’s help @thesimplejones to make sure she has all the essentials ~ HOSPITAL BAG ~ For everyone asking if I’ve packed my hospital bag yet... solid no. Guys I only bought my wedding dress 3 weeks before our wedding. Seriously, how far in advance do people pack their bags? Up until this weekend, my thoughts for birth essentials consisted of what snacks I’ll be packing for labour and what snacks I’ll be packing for J...EREMY for labour (because no one wants a hangry Jez trust meee). . So, what do you actually need to pack in this hospital bag everyone keeps talking about? Again, I’m looking for ESSENTIALS See more

17.01.2022 Mamas, what was your first meal post labour?? One of my first was runny eggs on toast #Repost @courtneyburtonfitness "I dreamt about this turkey sandwich for about 9 months. It’s all I wanted throughout my pregnancy, probably because it was one of the things I couldn’t have. I ate a ton of veggie subs over the last 9 months, but what I REALLY wanted was a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with cheese, tomato + mayo.... So after 16 hours of not eating during my labor, here I am in my first moments as a mother. I’m feeding Bohdi, and Braden is feeding me my well-deserved turkey sandwich See more

16.01.2022 I absolutely love this!! Thanks @partumpanties for sharing on behalf of @danibonnor To all the mummas soon to have their babies... We are so lucky here in our maternity wards Our triage and admissions have been manageable. Mums are less distracted by all their visitors. Mums are focused and have more time.... Mums are more relaxed and receptive to imformation and education. Mums have more trust in their birth space without pressures of families and friends. Mums are connecting more with their baby and partners. Mums have more time for themselves to improve their recovery. Mums have more space to gain confidence in breastfeeding. So hang is there mummas, there is actually a lot of positives to our current changes From a birth suite midwife x repost @danibonnor

16.01.2022 Postpartum Self Care In our postpartum days, getting enough sleep is super important to our recovery. Without enough sleep, we can not properly take care of ourself, let alone our baby. Sleep affects our health, mood & hormones. Staying in a comfy bed or on the couch for the first few days encourages our body and mind to rest. Mama, the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby is get enough sleep, so stay in your pjs, snuggle in and get some zzz’s @sswansondesign
