25.01.2022 The Governments MBS Review will wipe out home visits across the country, leaving millions of Australians without urgent medical care after hours. But you can do something about it! All big policy changes need public consultation. The Government has set up a survey to ask the public what they think. If we overwhelmingly respond to protect home visits, they cant ignore us. We have less than 30 days to get as many people to complete the survey. Weve set up a page to make completing the survey as easy as possible. Please fill it out and share with your friends to protect this essential Medicare service.

15.01.2022 We have received the following PM from Nicole Ryan. Message as follows, Hello ... I am asking for your help/ support as my year has come to Step up for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and there is no known cause or cure! On Sunday, 4 May 2014, I will be stepping up and climbing 53 flights/ 1103 steps to Perths tallest building to raise funds for Western Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS). This is something I feel so strongly about as my Father was diagnosed 22 years ago when I was a just born and he is still fighting to live normal life style today. The course of MS is unpredictable, some people are minimally affected by the disease, while some may experience more frequent relapses leading to varying levels of disability. Growing up watching the effects that this disease can cause has really opened my eyes to how precious life is & after hearing about this fundraiser I was very quick to get on board!. My father is a known leader of a MS group in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Growing up I was able to attend to MS meetings/ events witnessing firsthand how quick this disease can take over some lives. I really admire these amazing people and their families for continuing to flight and sticking together as in some cases families will need to provide full time support and care to family members with this disease. All funds raised from this years Step Up for MS will go towards providing vital care and support services to people living with MS, and their families. Any amount great or small received would be much appreciated. Below is the link to my fundraising page. http://www.mswaevents.org.au/Step-Up-for-MS/Nicoleryan14 Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you could spread the word it would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards,

12.01.2022 As the temperature soars in Perth today here are some handy tips to stay safe. Prevention of heat-related illness Prevention is the best way to manage heat-related illness. Some tips to prevent heat stress include:... Keep up your fluids you need to drink more during hot weather, regardless of how active you are. Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink. Drink plenty of water or other cool, non-alcoholic fluids. (Check with your doctor if you are on limited fluids or fluid pills.) Avoid alcohol or drinks that contain lots of sugar. Dont have extremely cold liquids, as they may cause stomach cramps. Avoid exposure to heat stay out of the sun as much as you can, Protect yourself outside if you must be outdoors, remember to protect yourself from the sun slip, slop, slap by covering exposed skin with lightweight clothes, using sunscreen and wearing a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Limit physical activity too much physical activity on a hot day can lead to heat stress. If you can, restrict activity to cooler parts of the day. Dont leave children or pets in cars even on cool days, cars can heat up to dangerous temperatures very quickly. Children or pets that are left unattended in parked cars for even a few minutes are at risk of serious heat-related illnesses and possibly death. Never leave children or pets in a parked car, even if the windows are left open a fraction. Take it easy rest often and, whenever possible, stay indoors or in the shade. Stay cool and keep air circulating around you. Use air conditioning if possible. (If you dont have air conditioning, consider visiting an air-conditioned shopping centre or public library.) Take a cool shower, bath or sponge bath. Keep up your energy levels eat regular, light meals. Watch out for others check on older, sick or frail people who may need help coping with the heat (at least twice a day). If you are showing any signs of a heat related illness please contact your health professional or call us after hours on 1300 000 362. Information supplied from Better Health Victoria

06.01.2022 We have received the following email today. For the sake of privacy, we are not publishing the name of the sender. Email received copied as follows, To Whom It May Concern, Good Morning/Afternoon,... I received in my letter box your fridge magnet and info on your locum service which as a pensioner who does not drive and has no family may at some later stage come in handy. What has prompted me to write to you though is wondering if you will charge the seven dollar copayment the govt is trying to get in if it does get past the senate. This is an important question that needs to be raised and answered as a lot of people may not have even that small amount on hand. Thank you for your time and assistance Mrs............... 30/05/2014. We would like to clarify here that we are NOT charging any co-payment at the moment, and DO NOT plan to charge the co-payment even once/if the law is passed from Senate.
