24.01.2022 This is a very real question and one that requires some honest reflection. This brief article can help you in this.
23.01.2022 There is no doubt that the passing of a loved one is a sad time. The presence, support and guidance of a caring, respectful and experienced funeral director can not change that, but it can make the journey through the week following a death just that little bit easier... here is what a family sent us regarding just that after we looked after their mother recently - "We would like to express our gratitude to the members of Agape Funeral Service. Our beloved mum passed away on... 18/1/17 and, as you can imagine we were beside ourselves and were faced with many decisions from selections of coffins, flowers, cars and everything else in between. Theo patiently and compassionately guided us through the whole process of having to bury our mother. His caring nature to honour our loved one with love and dignity was amazing. Theo went above and beyond to farewell somebody who meant so much to us. It wasn't just another 'body', Theo and his team made sure that our mum got the send off she deserved. In a time of emotional torment, Agape Funeral Service was a pillar of strength and support. Thank you Theo for all that you and your team did to respect a loving soul. We truly thankyou from the bottom of our hearts" Nick & George K See more

22.01.2022 Hello friends, This photo of Susan and I with the legendary Vasili from Vasilis Garden & Cafe was taken at his amazing nursery in Coburg. Agape Funerals is proud to be associated with and advertise at Vasili's Garden program on Channel 31. Vasili, his lovely daughter and the family crew are all incredibly dedicated to good natural health for both gardens and people!
22.01.2022 Dying to Know Day was an exceptional and very successful event, bringing awareness and knowledge into our communities. The day was very well represented by numerous organisations of the evolving health and funeral industries. It was interesting to see and hear from speakers of diverse backgrounds who conveyed how their own communities approach end of life subjects; including how they perform rituals and their differing beliefs regarding death and dying. Dying to Know Day hi...ghlights the need for more exposure of this delicate subject in western culture. My wife Susan and I highly recommend attending these events and becoming involved in this significant part of life. More information can be found at: http://www.dyingtoknowday.org/

19.01.2022 We recently visited the beautiful site of the Church of Panagia Gorgoepikoos at the Greek Orthodox Monastery in Geelong. Wonderful grounds, very hospitable nuns and Greek Liturgy is offered in English once a month (dates can be found here: http://www.gorgoepikoos.org.au/monasteryprogramme).
18.01.2022 If you think about it, death is the easy part, it's the ageing, decline and dying part that we like to avoid. Here is an opportunity to think about those parts of life in a creative and non-confrontational way.
17.01.2022 A short read with some valuable questions and encouragement to consider improving our death literacy, and to start those conversations, at least a little, with ourselves and our loved ones about what matters most in facing death. We at Agape Funerals are involved in supporting families losing loved ones during the pandemic in Melbourne, and it is especially sad and humbling. As described in the article - You have to tell people you love them, or you forgive them, or you thank them. If those things are unsaid thats a great tragedy for those left behind. Wishing peace and compassion for all.
15.01.2022 An interesting look at how are Kiwi neighbours are breaking down barriers to talking about death and being involved in the funeral industry.
12.01.2022 This image captures a 'Home Funeral' service that Agape Funerals conducted recently. All the wishes of the deceased and the family were carried out with love and care. It is important to take note that all preparation, the viewing and practicalities took place at family's home. This unique funeral service was conducted at a natural location chosen by the family. With environmental consciousness and creative contribution from all friends and family it was an inspiring and uplifting service to be a part of.
11.01.2022 Please consider viewing this TEDx talk by a progressive funeral director and an end of life doula. It takes 10.5 minutes to watch but it may transform a death and change a life. It is definitely food for deep thought. The team at Agape Funerals cares deeply about death literacy and allowing the creation of funerals that help make meaningful experiences for family and friends.
10.01.2022 Finding new ways of connecting and sharing during these COVID19 times is necessary, and becomes essential when a loved one dies. Agape Funerals has already arranged and conducted three funerals under the new public health restrictions, with another two funerals this coming week. Please contact us with any concerns or questions about how to approach the challenges of organising a funeral during the pandemic crisis. We are happy to help in any way we can.
08.01.2022 This gorgeous Mercedes Benz is our first Agape Family support coach. She is a 420 SEL long base model. It is as if this cars was designed for Funeral work. With spacious back seat room, beautiful leather upholstery, graceful take off, and a dream comfortable quiet ride makes it perfect for both Family and Driver. It adjusts the back suspension according to the load, an advantage for passengers with difficulties.... They don't make them like that anymore, but for the people that have them it's a love affair. She was siting at a Surfer's Paradise garage for some years waiting to be restored to her former beauty. I will be bringing her back to best possible condition, she is worth it! Theodore

06.01.2022 Dear friends, This is one of the best articles I have come across in regards to dealing with loss and grief. The article is succinct, informative and provides links to other useful sites (it can be downloaded via the link attached). It is important for all of us to know what to do and what to say when death occurs in a family. In my experience, we are always under prepared for these situations, so the more educated and ready we can be, the better we can assist grieving famil...ies and individuals. Respectfully, Theodore and Susan. https://www.seniorsonline.vic.gov.au//dealing-with-loss-an

05.01.2022 Today we attended a funeral. It reminded us that the funeral day is of great significance to family and friends. But for those closest, it is just one step in a journey of many steps, and whilst we can't take the grief away, we can continue to let them know we care.

03.01.2022 Charging for funeral services in Australia varies enormously, with the larger services charging significantly more. Agape Funerals is different. We have intentionally chosen a business model that allows us to keep our costs to a minimum so that we can achieve our mission of providing affordable, compassionate and exceptional funerals. Look at this recent report on ABC 7:30 Report - https://www.abc.net.au//funeral-industry-under-sc/11188090 or read the full report at https://www.gatheredhere.com.au/funeral-prices-in-australi/
01.01.2022 Here is feedback from a recent funeral - Good Morning Theodore, Just want to say a very big thank You. The most painful hard & sad day of my life was 29th March 2017.... Mum mothers funeral. We appointed you as our funeral director. We had not done this before so we were nervous how it will flow smoothly. As mums farewell was extremely important to us. All I can say you made it perfect. Your service was professional, personalised, compassionate and just beautiful. From the first meeting we had to the last follow up which was yesterday you made our sad journey very comfortable. All the people that attended have come back to me and have said to me Theodore was amazing and the funeral was just beautiful. My family and myself would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Koula Greg Natalie and Senior Greg.
