25.01.2022 Have you accessed your new or upgraded funding?

24.01.2022 UWS is undertaking a study to assess current venous thromboembolism (VTE) screening protocols in residential aged care. If youd like to participate email Tamara Johnson (Medical Student) at [email protected]. Please help to aid in the evidenced based practices in aged care.

24.01.2022 Let's be clear. You don't need to pay exit fees. This is your choice to move to providers who care best about you.

23.01.2022 I listened to two great speakers yesterday who reminded us that 88% of strategic plans fail because they dont understand the future trends. Also about what elements are needed in a business to transform itself to succeed (See photo) Aged Care is fairly predictable.... our customers want more for less and are increasingly more acute, staff are getting older, care and services will get more complex but need to me more flexible regardless on accommodation. Why arent we transforming our businesses now to succeed in the future?

22.01.2022 Theres a beautiful and gorgeous aged care facility in Westmead called Cabrini Care. We would love any volunteers who would like to sit with some of our residents who dont get any visitors. If you are interested or know anyone who could spare a few minutes a week. Please ring CabriniCare on 1300 868 868 or look up our website http://www.cabrinicare.com.au/. Im also looking for people who could sing, play our grand piano or an instrument for an hour as they just light up to this music. We would like to have live music every day of the week if we could. Even if its a student who would just like to practice each day. Please give us a call. Thank you.

22.01.2022 Truely a fabulous home and approach to care for people with dementia.

22.01.2022 I had the honour of presenting at International Womens Day Breakfast for Australian Catholic University. What an amazing opportunity to challenge our thinking and work with women to be the best we can be. Thanks ACU.

18.01.2022 There's no surprise that the over 65 year age group is rising. How are we really going to support them in the future? Will they be able to afford it? Will the country be able to support their needs? Will our standards of care be enough?... Will our community be able to support each other? I fear the answer is no.... I hope I am wrong.... Please tell me I am!!!!

18.01.2022 Whats the best strategy you have to gain volunteers?

18.01.2022 Providing spiritual care in aged care could get harder to ensure all residents have their needs addressed adequately, if these trends continue. The latest Census results show those identifying with no religion rose from 21.8% in 2011, to 29.6% in 2016. http://ow.ly/TJIe30jdqCr

17.01.2022 One of the most amazing aged care organisations. To top it off they have dementia hotels for our loved ones with dementia.

14.01.2022 I had the honour of presenting at International Women’s Day Breakfast for Australian Catholic University. What an amazing opportunity to challenge our thinking and work with women to be the best we can be. Thanks ACU.

14.01.2022 Changes to aged care funding (ACFI) mean we will loose $6-$7,000 per bed. How can we meet the needs of such a frail & vulnerable population

14.01.2022 The best thing you can say as a carer or a care worker when looking after a person with dementia- Im sorry ...http://ow.ly/nFwR30atoQr

13.01.2022 Are you leading your team to success? Listening to Andrew Lock about his summit climbs to now be the leading climber in Australia. My learnings from his presentation:... - You only fail when you give up; - You need autonomy to adapt to the changing conditions; - You need a sense of purpose to succeed; - Need to adapt our approaches to the situations ahead; - Work to your strengths and that of your teams; - Disengagement breads fear, uncertainty and intimidation; - The individuals need to be empowered and valued in order to succeed - be motivated and inspired; - One team is critical- sharing the workload to take ownership; and - Celebrate your success loudly.

13.01.2022 Are you looking after your staff?....... in order to increase employee retention you need the start by saying thank you, and meaning it. http://ow.ly/wp6Q30fRXiL

10.01.2022 Had the honour of presenting about siloing of digital health. Great conference at the 2nd Digital Hospital of the Future.

09.01.2022 Nice to see an easy guide to make sense of things. It's awful we have exit fees.

09.01.2022 If youre a nurse or carer in Sydney you can enter WetnWild water park in February for free and their families get 25% discount. Isnt this fantastic. Thank you WetnWild http://ow.ly/Mwld30i9Oso

08.01.2022 Are you interested in more learning?

07.01.2022 Unannounced visits are critical! Since 2000, I have been going into facilities to fix them up for accreditation and knowing only too well that this band-aiding doesnt work to keep our residents safe and systems effective. I refuse to do this now! Bare in mind our current practices were legislated as best practice 20 years ago....we need to be operating at not minimum levels but expected levels. ... Let Aged Care Consultancy Australia help you to make sure your facilities and services are operating at a level that there not in crisis and you can sleep knowing they are cared for like you would want your family to be. http://ow.ly/lDUA30gblKV http://ow.ly/W21j30gblKU

07.01.2022 He was such an inspirational man. He really helped challenge and redefine aged care. Such a sad loss.

07.01.2022 What’s the best strategy you have to gain volunteers?

02.01.2022 Lets celebrate international day of the older person today by acknowledging the great ways an older person has impacted / inspired / engaged in your life. We are fortunate enough to be able to work everyday with the elderly. They make my life so much better. Do you know an elderly person who has made your life better and how?

02.01.2022 SummitCare has the most inspiring and aesthetically invigorating rooms Ive ever seen. Have you really listened to what your elderly market want?

01.01.2022 A great team with a heart for really making elder care better. Thanks John for making such a great difference in our community.
