14.01.2022 With close to 700 million people worldwide over the age of 60, our ageing population is both diverse and an integral part of our world. WHO’s International Day of Older Persons (1st October) was established in 1990, as a response to the growing population of ageing people. Numerous initiatives followed on including the United Nations Principles for Older Persons and the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing. The theme for the 2019 International Day of Older Persons is ‘The Journey to Age Equality’. So let’s all take a moment and think about how we as individuals can work together with and empower older people, with the hope of reaching the goal of age equality. #empower #ageingpopulation
