12.01.2022 The Commercial Athlete 30 Days 30 Tips - Tip 4 - Own Your Name! It's important that you digitally own your name, if you don't someone else will buy/get it and then you can't control what they put up and how that could affect your brand. You want it to be as easy as possible to find you too. So if someone else owns your name it will make it difficult for your fans to find you.... Even if you don't plan on having a website (though we recommend you do) it costs about $15 a year to own your URL. You don't have to be on every social media channel though it's important that you own your name (handle) on everyone. So even if you aren't going to use it, when new platforms release make sure you get your handle in your name.
12.01.2022 This week Roger Federer launched his new tennis-inspired sneaker brand with Swiss running brand On - and it's Vegan. A couple of important points here: 1. Roger is using his platform and brand to release a product which holds true to his values and is of benefit to society.... Whilst we're also sure it will make a tidy profit for him, mostly due to the power of his brand on the range and his involvement with the business. RF is a recent investor in the business. 2. This is an example of effective negotiating by his management! Despite his brand partnerships with Uniqlo and Nike, he's able to invest and promote additional sports apparel brands. Most brands try for non-competing exclusive agreements and lock-out periods. Too many athletes lock into agreements which limit their brand partnership opportunities now and in the future. This is done through settings. You do not need to create a new account to do this. ... This allows you to track your analytics around the performance of your posts and who your audience is. They also favour athlete accounts in the algorithm to show more than personal accounts. Then have a personal account if needed where you post your personal posts for your close friends and family.
