24.01.2022 Monty the Corgi and Lion the Terrier are on their quad bike heading straight to the Museum in the hope of finding a large bone. Sorry we only have Fossils - but impressive world class ones!!!!

22.01.2022 Monty the corgi thought that whales were fish. They are mammals because they produce milk for their young. Go figure! Never mind. Monty is often mistaken for a beached whale!!

17.01.2022 Rainy days in the school holidays are boring. Monty the Corgi thinks all tired mums should put their feet up and send their children to the Age of Fishes Museum for some holiday fun.

The Museum is run by 12 dedicated volunteers and their safety is our prime objective. The Board is currently reviewing its options and we will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.... 14.01.2022 Did You Know! - The Monkey Puzzle Tree "The tree was alive 200 million years ago and rubbed shoulders with the dinosaurs. Its spine-like needles acted as protection from ancient grazing animals now long extinct. It can live for 1,000 years and grows to 50m high with a trunk diameter of over 3m. Its large seeds, pinones, take two years to mature. -(The Eden Project,)"



13.01.2022 POP QUIZ for all you locals-free shark's tooth necklace to the first three children to come in this afternoon and tell us the age of our famous fish fossils! It's quiet and cool in the Museum and Shop today- why not come down this afternoon and bring the children to look at the live fish or take a selfie with the velociraptor, and there's plenty of room in the free garden garden area. 09.01.2022 Thanks Tom for the thumbs up! Tom loved the educational activities at the Museum. You know it is a small world - Tom's mum Cath was taught by Dr Ritchie (who found the fossils) when she did her Zoology degree!

09.01.2022 Our new woodchipper does an excellent job in reducing, reusing and recycling garden waste into wood chips for our garden beds. These woodchips also reduce water consumption and costs. A win win for everyone. Thank you to the Communities Environment Program for this wonderful machine.

These fossilised turtle droppings have taken 25 million years to get from Madagascar to our Museum and we'd love you all to come and see them in your holidays. 05.01.2022 Did you know - The Ginkgo ( Maiden Hair Tree) is a living Fossil? Fossils of the Ginkgo date back 270 million years. It is native to China and was used for medicine and as a source of food. Some trees lived for more than 2500 years.... 6 specimens survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (in Japan) even though they were 1-2km from ground zero. They are still alive today!! See more
