24.01.2022 With just 2 days until polling day it's very disappointing that none of the major parties have stepped up and committed to a plan to abolish the rationing of aged care. Check out the summary of what they have committed to here: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/party-policy-commitments/
23.01.2022 The National Aged Care Alliance (NACA) has released new analysis today which show Australia will need almost 100,000 new aged care workers in just 4 years to meet the growing demands of Australia’s ageing population. Victoria is facing the biggest staffing shortfall, needing more than 29,000 new aged workers by 2023 including personal care attendants, nurses and other health staff. ... Significant increases are needed in every state and territory to help cut waiting lists and guarantee quality of care to 1.3 million older Australians. It is beyond disappointing that neither of the major parties has made any significant announcement about how they will ensure we have the aged care workforce we need, not just in the next term of Parliament but in the decades ahead.
23.01.2022 Last week the three major parties addressed a meeting of the National Aged Care Alliance. They were positive about the need to end the aged care lottery but we still don't have any firm commitments on how we'll get there. Here are some pics of the them with some of the supporters of our campaign. There is Health Minister Susan Ley, Shadow Minister for Ageing Shayne Neumann and Australian Greens spokesperson on ageing Rachel Siewert. And please sign the petition to end the aged care lottery if you haven't has a chance yet: http://agewellcampaign.com.au
22.01.2022 This morning we launched our new national election campaign calling on all candidates in the upcoming Federal election to commit to ‘getting aged care right for everyone.’ The campaign has been launched in anticipation of the Federal election and in response to a disappointing Budget week, which has seen both the Government and the Opposition fail to address the huge waiting list for home care and the need to urgently invest in a high quality aged care workforce that can meet... the needs of Australia’s ageing population. As part of the campaign, we have launched a petition calling on the Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt and the Shadow Minister for Ageing, Julie Collins MP to commit to getting aged care right for everyone. We encourage all Australians, no matter your background or age, to sign on to the petition to tell our leaders they need to pick up their act and commit to ensuring equity of access to aged care for all older Australians and to growing the aged care workforce. You can read all about the campaign and sign the petition by following the link below.
21.01.2022 It's just ten days to go to election day! Have you emailed your local candidates and asked them how they will ensure older people receive the care they need, when they need it? It's really easy using the tools on our website here: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/candidates/ Let's make sure every candidate knows that aged care is something they should care about this election.
20.01.2022 Australia’s aged care system is under more pressure than ever before. It's not too late to ask local candidates in your electorate if they’ll support a better aged care system as well so that come Election Day on May 18, you can make your vote count. Just enter your postcode to send your local candidates an email you can use our suggested words, or write your own.... https://agewellcampaign.com.au/email-your-local-candidates/
19.01.2022 With the Federal Election campaign in full swing it’s time to keep the momentum going and ask local candidates in your electorate if they’ll support a better aged care system as well. Will you email your candidates now and let them know you’re counting on them to get aged care right for everyone? https://agewellcampaign.com.au/email-your-local-candidates/... We need every local MP elected to Parliament after May 18 to commit to building an aged care system that works not just now but also into the future. That means supporting policies that will ensure everyone gets the quality care they need, when they need it, where they need wherever in Australia they live.

12.01.2022 Labor is releasing their aged care policy today! The media this morning suggests we might be a little disappointed and that they will not be commiting to end the aged care lottery. We will keep you posted as we know more. This is what they said on radio this morning:
11.01.2022 Less than 24 hours until election day. Despite hundreds of you signing our petition none of the major parties have committed to abolishing the rationing of age care. Here's what the parties have said: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/party-policy-commitments/

08.01.2022 There are currently more than 125,000 older Australians who are waiting for their assessed level of home care. The good news is that there is something you can do about it! Email your local candidate today and tell them their inaction on this issue is simply not good enough.... Together, we can get aged care right for everyone! https://agewellcampaign.com.au/email-your-local-candidates/
03.01.2022 Thanks to an arbitrary aged care system which rations aged care places, the waiting times for aged care are getting longer and longer. Email your candidates and ask them what commitments they will make to older Australians this election: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/candidates/
02.01.2022 Election day is here - don't forget to vote! And if you are still undecided and want to see what the parties have committed for aged care you can check out our summer here: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/party-policy-commitments/
02.01.2022 Great discussion by our campaign partners at the National Press Club today! If you missed the broadcast ABCiview will have it available soon at: http://iview.abc.net.au
02.01.2022 Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - a day to remember that too many older people experience physical, emotional and financial abuse. You can mark the day by emailing your election candidates and asking them to end the aged care lottery that means too many people miss out on the care they need. It's easy using the tools on our website: http://agewellcampaign.com.au/candidates/
01.01.2022 Do your local election candidates, those fighting for your vote this election, think aged care is an election issue? Are they talking about how they will end the aged care lottery? You can ask them. Let’s make sure they know that people in their electorate want to hear from them about their party’s plans for aged care! We have created an easy-to-use tool on our website that allows you to find your candidates by simply inputting your postcode. And we’ll send a message straight to the inbox of your local candidates.
