21.01.2022 Joint media release: $50 million boost to successful drought water infrastructure rebate 2 October 2020 Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, The Hon Keith Pitt MP Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management, The Hon David Littleproud MP... The Coalition Government is delivering a significant increase in its financial support to Australian farmers to help them become more drought resilient. Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, Keith Pitt, said the Government is doubling its funding for the successful On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme to $100 million. The rebate scheme had been very well received by farmers because the infrastructure it supported provided enduring benefits, including new bores, better dams and pipes that allowed movement of water to their stock, Minister Pitt said. The Government’s extra $50 million will be available this financial year to drought affected livestock producers and horticulturalists with permanent plantings. This investment in our farmers provides rebates up to 25% of the eligible infrastructure costs, capped at $25,000. The scheme, which was managed by states and territories, was over-subscribed by an estimated 2000 applications. Many of our Federal MPs and Senators, along with farmers, put forward a strong case to have the scheme extended and we’re delivering that. My intention is to make this support work even harder by partnering with the states and territories who must match the Commonwealth funding for eligible on-farm water infrastructure projects. Minister Littleproud said the scheme was extremely popular as it provided much needed assistance to improve water security, productivity and profitability. While recent rains are a cause for optimism, recovering from drought can take years rather than months, Minister Littleproud said. This rebate is essential in the immediate term to help farmers keep livestock watered and permanent plantings alive in the drought. It’s even more valuable over the long term because the water infrastructure farmers build now will better prepare them for future drought events. The Commonwealth has stepped up to provide this extra funding to ensure more farmers do not miss out on this crucial rebate, and I know farmers would welcome state governments also stepping up to co-fund these rebates in order to provide certainty to communities, Minister Littleproud said today. For more information about the On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme visit the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment’s website.

16.01.2022 AgForce CQ welcomes Precision Livestock Farming Australia as a Regional Event Sponsor. PLF is the sole CQ distributor of the DTN Smart Pest Trap on behalf of DTN. While only available in Australia since early 2020, several notable Queensland organisations have acquired several smart traps and have found the results to be excellent. They were: DAR’s Gatton Research Centre - trapping Heliothis moth. CQU trapping sweet potato weevils.... DAF Emerald Fall Armyworm; - Unfortunately the FAW lure failed, but the device worked well in identifying False Armyworm. Also, its ability to operate autonomously, delivering pest identification and quantification back to a mobile app, was seen as a big plus. - Based on DAF’s advice, the regional president of CQ Cotton Growers and Irrigators has purchased our first unit. There have also been successful trials in South Australia and Victoria (Bendigo). While the smart trap has only been Australia for several months. It has been operating in the United States for the last couple of years and has had considerable succeed in identifying and quantifying FAW. PLF will be joining us on the CQ Grains run in early December. #standwithregqld Contact Paul Stapleton 0417 750 560

13.01.2022 AgForce CQ welcomes Regional Sponsor Entegra Signature Structures: With Prudence Barwick the Regional Manager Qld NT (Prudence's previous roles in CQ were with Gallagher and Virbac) Phone 0407 541 607 "Entegra are an Australian owned company that has been building steel structures nationally for over 35 years. We have some globally patented roof designs, and as a leader in innovation, a firm commitment to R & D in relation to shed design for multiple applications. ... "We specialize in large span structures for industrial, agricultural and retail applications. In 1991 we were the first to build a 50-m clear span building and continue to lead the way in cool room loaded applications in the Agri/Horticultural sectors in Australia. We now build up to a 80m clear-span which is by far the largest span built in Australia. "We also pioneered ‘roof-lift’ method of construction in Australia in 1995 to create a safer (workers not working at heights), quicker (we lifted 15,000 sqm in 7 hours recently using 13 cranes) and more economical than the traditional stick-built method (saving on prelims for two weeks at least shorter build time). "We design and engineer all our building to maximise solar loading to produce between 650kW and 1000kW on a roof space of 10,000sqm. Furthermore they are designed to harvest 100% of the rainfall that can be then be used on or offsite. Environmental credentials are key to modern businesses and we have addressed that issue with our designs. "We have a full design service as well as project management team that looks after an end to end solution for clients (from town planning and building permits to delivery and sign-off). We currently have active building sites across QLD, NT, NSW and SA, across a number of agricultural businesses. "At Entegra, we stand by our values. We love partnering with companies and individuals who align with our values to ensure that, at the end of the day, the best outcome has been achieved for all parties. I have attached some quick links and a brochure to give you a feel for the product range and company drivers. https://www.entegra.com.au/australian-technology/ "One point that our documents probably do not really detail is that we only use Australian made structural steel and cladding we have batch certificates for all the material used which means that you have warranty not only on the ENTEGRA fabrication but also steelwork manufacturer. We are also happy to share our QA documents with clients, that detail each step our manufacture processes." #standwithregqld

06.01.2022 Rookwood Weir AgForce has contacted the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy with some questions about how Reef regulations and ‘no net decline’ in water quality requirements might impact new irrigated cropping developments resulting from the Rookwood Weir. They have advised that ‘commercial risk regarding obtaining approvals, use of the water and complying with the regulatory framework required for an activity is a risk borne by the water purchaser’. Water purch...asers will have to comply with a Sunwater Land Management Code of Practice, to be developed with industry and government and required under the Weir’s federal EPBC Act approvals to meet water quality objectives. The Code is intended to help minimise environmental impacts and support compliance with regulation, including for the Reef. Purchasers will be required to provide annual confirmation of their compliance with the Code, relevant best practice management plans, the Reef 2050 Plan and other obligations including environmental authorities. While supportive of new water infrastructure and growth opportunities for agriculture, AgForce has strongly opposed the new Reef regulations as an unnecessary impost on farmers that will not benefit the Reef in terms of water quality. We advise potential purchasers of water from Rookwood Weir to fully factor in the regulatory and other requirements that will apply when considering new cropping development investments as the risk will sit with them. DNRME advises that the Queensland Government, including the Office of the Great Barrier Reef (OGBR), can assist farmers in being able to understand and meet their environmental obligations. The contact in relation to Reef regulations is Sarah Hindmarsh, Reef Policy at OGBR, on 07 3330 5757 #standwithregqld

02.01.2022 Regional Queensland is defended by the over 30,000 Rural Fire Brigade members in over 1,400 Rural Fire Brigades. Of prime concern to brigades is that the ability to make decisions quickly and locally has been taken away from the local people who understand the local environment and local conditions and been centralised.
