24.01.2022 We are raising these issues with the Queensland Government, the LNP - Liberal National Party and minor parties as a priority. Investing in the strength of farming businesses is really an investment in the strength of our regions. #standwithregqld
23.01.2022 Our #standwithregqld campaign is in full swing. But did you know theres another group of producers out there raising awareness and doing everything they can to spread the truth about agriculture? A True Storys website features information, facts, and videos from people who work on the land. Real people talking about issues like the Reef, vegetation, and the relationship between producers and food. Two such people are AgForce members Peter and Julia Anderson. Read more about... what theyd like you to know: https://okt.to/BzM6cQ These are powerful stories that tap into the heart of #standwithregqld, raising awareness of the issues facing rural and regional Queensland.
23.01.2022 We have to start acknowledging that digital connectivity is vital not just to our farm businesses, but to the very fabric of our communities. #standwithregqld
22.01.2022 As the new AgForce Board takes steps to go above and beyond for members, five new volunteer Chairs have been appointed. They are: - Natural Resources Committee: Richard Bucknell - Ag Business Committee: Mark Collins... - Workforce and Safety Committee: James Stinson - Biosecurity Committee: Belinda Callanan - Reef Taskforce: Alex Stubbs General President Georgie Somerset will also continue to Chair the Policy Coordination Group, which includes these Chairs, and has a stronger focus on advocacy and community engagement. A smooth transition from the existing Committees and Taskforce will happen over the coming weeks with the valued contribution of outgoing Chairs and members fully and formally recognised. The Chairs have an important role to play in leading strong committees which will help shape our future direction. It’s great to have everyone on board!
22.01.2022 Last chance to add your voice to AgForce’s committees - or nominate! We have already had a great response, but we want to hear more about the policy issues you consider to be of greatest importance, and we want you to nominate to join a committee or taskforce and help us provide policy solutions to our industry’s greatest challenges. That’s why we have extended the survey deadline until Sunday 17 January.... Have your say at https://okt.to/jLidxJ
22.01.2022 Calling all fearless female leaders! If you're ready to lead Queensland agriculture into the future, and you would like to network among other like-minded women, there are numerous opportunities out there. Develop your skills and share your knowledge at these upcoming events: Starting tomorrow, Australian Women in Agriculture's online program by Cathy McGowan is about how community independents can change Australia for the better, and it looks like registrations are still op...en: https://okt.to/7zDdsQ This Wednesday, QUT (Queensland University of Technology) has an information session on their 'Pathways to Politics for Women' program with Professor Vicky Browning and Kate Jones: https://okt.to/M5zlas Then the week after, Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network is hosting numerous lunches and events for International Women's Day, across Toowoomba, Dulacca, Mackay, Hugenden, Charleville, Morven, and online: https://okt.to/rF1HiZ Lastly, don't forget that expressions of interest are open too for Women & Leadership Australia's $5,000 scholarships: https://okt.to/yvmJXw What other programs do you know of? 21.01.2022 Several factors are working against Queensland agriculture. These things stop us from growing agribusiness, the economy and our communities: excessive government charges like stamp duty term leases... the Land Act 1994 What do you think? Would you add anything else to the list? #standwithregqld
21.01.2022 Have you considered Reef credits? We're urging caution... Until more is known, we recommend all land managers: read the fine print to weight the value of a Reef credit against the costs, and seek the true value of a Reef credit before considering the scheme.
21.01.2022 The existing vegetation management regulatory framework in Queensland is politically motivated and targets a reduction in broadacre tree clearing, but NOT the management of vegetation or ecosystems. At present, landowners provide ecosystems that benefit society for free, with no financial support. Moving to a Natural Capital market-based approach, that rewards landholders for management practices that protect environmental assets, will ensure that everyone benefits from healt...hy landscapes. Let us know what you think over at the Stand With Regional Queensland page. #standwithregqld
20.01.2022 "When it comes to the Reef it seems agriculture will never be green enough for some." In this week's column, General President Georgie Somerset addresses the "one size fits all" approach we and our members oppose in the matter of Reef regulations. https://okt.to/HbaUGw

19.01.2022 Whats the latest on #reefregs? Deficiencies in the science are still on display.
18.01.2022 This week Stand With Regional Queensland highlights the digital divide between those in urban areas and people living in rural and regional Queensland. In particular, well be focusing on the lack of adequate mobile coverage in the bush and calling on whoever is in Government to co-fund the Mobile Black Spots Program.... Better coverage would allow producers to be better connected and to access the latest technology, essential to ensuring farmers can continue to produce high-quality, sustainable food and fibre. #standwithregqld
17.01.2022 Landcare Australia are looking for producers who are interested in knowing how carbon footprint and natural capital schemes can underpin industry sustainability strategy reporting, future investment, and potential new markets to get involved in a new project being run throughout 2021. The Landcare Farming Program will deliver a series of carbon footprint and natural capital accounting workshops to develop an awareness and adoption pathway for on-farm integration. EOIs for groups of 10+ participants close on 20 January.
17.01.2022 "After months of meeting over video screens the return to an in-person beef industry forum hosted by AgForce at Rockhampton on Thursday prompted an enthusiastic response from producers. "Held in conjunction with the AgForce Cattle Board annual general meeting at the Gracemere saleyards, a panel session invited producers to respond to the question What’s Your Beef?" Here's what our guest speakers - Senator Susan McDonald, Andrew Mactaggart, Fred Hughes; with our very own Alice Greenup, Georgie Somerset, and Will Wilson - had to share with attendees

15.01.2022 "As the youngest board director at time, for me coming in was a huge learning curve too, I sort of didn't quite know when I was getting myself into, but it's a fantastic opportunity in my personal development but also professional development. "This board is a group of really passionate, excited like minded people and a really collaborative group and our whole focus really at the end of the day is delivering the best outcomes for the industry." Thank you to Alan Rae, Robyn Bryant and Tracey Finnegan, for all your contributions and hard work over the years.

12.01.2022 Industry working with scientists to study the environment will result in better outcomes for all of Australia, not just producers. 12.01.2022 Student visa holders can soon work more than the 40 hours a fortnight limit if they are working for agriculture.
11.01.2022 The decision by the LNP - Liberal National Party to adopt our landscape management policy in close to its entirety is a win for environmentally sustainable agriculture. For years weve been advocating a policy of landscape restoration, not broadacre clearing, and the LNPs commitment to delivering fair and balanced landscape laws have acknowledged this. We wholeheartedly welcome the announcement by the LNP that they will essentially adopt our entire landscape management poli...cy if they are elected to government in October. - CEO Michael Guerin Deb Frecklington MP
10.01.2022 "It is time to stop apologising, stop focusing on fixing all the worlds environmental issues and stop pandering to NGOs (non-government organisations) who want nothing but to see our demise. "Its time we stopped believing the only way to make an extra buck is to become a carbon credit so other industries can expand at our expense. "Our land is for ag purpose, I cant underline that fact enough."
10.01.2022 The updated Reef 2050 Plan is up for its first five-year review, so were calling on all coastal producers and businesses to speak up about where Federal and State Governments should focus their Reef management efforts. Our strong voice is needed to ensure the plan focusses on the right priorities and actions to support reef resilience, a sustainable farming sector and strong regional communities. Do you agree with the proposed actions to address impacts of climate change, la...nd runoff, and water activities? Are the activities to protect, rehabilitate, and adapt the Reef practical? Public consultation is only open until 30 September, so please have your say as soon as you can.
09.01.2022 Natasha Johnston, the founder and director of Drought Angels which supports drought-stricken farming families, has been named the Queensland Local Hero in the 2021 Queensland Australian of the Year Awards. 06.01.2022 This week, CEO Michael Guerin discusses the resiliency of Queensland agriculture. "Despite everything thrown at the industry these past 12 months, it is now estimated that Australian agriculture will be worth $65 billion by the end of the financial year. Only eight months ago it was predicted to be $60 billion. "The quality of our food and fibre is the envy of the world so it will always be in high demand, but we must continue to work dynamically and innovatively so that we a...void the risks of becoming too reliant on any one market." What do you think?
05.01.2022 We primary producers have always been proud of our vital contribution to Australias economy and culture. This role will be especially apparent as Australia manages and then emerges from the COVID recession. But most of us are small family businesses and, like all businesses, we must be financially viable and resilient to remain in operation. In Queensland Country Life this week, AgForce Ag Business Committee chair Mark Collins discusses how this can happen.
04.01.2022 In a major win for keeping the agriculture supply lines open, weve has successfully lobbied for approval for farmers and agribusiness workers to move across the QLD/NSW border for farming and agribusiness purposes. To comply with the border exemption, you must travel directly to and from the relevant farm or premises. No exceptions. If you breach this rule... it isnt only going to turn out badly for you. Its going to put at risk the entire exemption, for the whole state. ... Heres how to do it right:
04.01.2022 This week, Stand With Regional Queensland highlights the need for government to collaborate with producers not fight them to generate the positive environmental outcomes we all seek. In particular, we will be raising awareness of the concept of Natural Capital and the broad range of ecosystem services like carbon sequestration, bushfire risk reduction, and native species protection that primary producers can provide with the appropriate financial and non-financial support. So join in! On the page, group, and the many posts people are sharing with #standwithregqld
04.01.2022 Thanks for visiting Belmont Station. Were already looking forward to seeing the end footage
04.01.2022 "A future-looking, bi-partisan water strategy that may incorporate a broader water allocation trading scheme is essential for post-COVID economic recovery."
03.01.2022 In case you missed it... The power of our carefully developed policy positions was demonstrated last week when the LNP adopted our landscape management policy virtually in its entirety. The LNPs stated commitment to enact fair and balanced landscape laws if elected to Government was supported by our science-based approach to landscape restoration and management of a sustainable tree-grass balance.... To have one of the two major political parties adopt our policy position is a significant win, and a testament to the dedication, professionalism and effectiveness of our policy committees, both members and staff. It also demonstrates that we need to keep working on the State Government to encourage them to do the same especially in relation to Reef regulation and landscape management. Lets keep strong and #standwithregqld!
03.01.2022 Congratulations to AgForce Cattle president Will Wilson, who has been named an #eatqld Champion in recognition of his ongoing advocacy of Queensland agriculture. Well deserved! Mark Furner MP for Ferny Grove, Eatqld
02.01.2022 We are very pleased to see a more streamlined process to allow Queenslanders who are performing essential specialist work in NSW to return to their homes in QLD. The Chief Health Officer has issued a class exemption under the Border Restriction Declaration (No.12) for farmers and agribusiness workers needing to move between Queensland and New South Wales to perform essential agribusiness services or farming activities, such as tending to livestock or crops (until 22 Septembe...r 2020). We are also excited to see the Chief Health Officer responding to a concerted campaign to have additional postcodes added to the border zone. This has been a huge body of work for AgForce and we welcome this latest announcement.
02.01.2022 Among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted Australias need for reliable, high-capacity voice and data connectivity. People living in the bush have ALWAYS known this. Connectivity is vital not just to our farm businesses, but to the very fabric of our communities. Its what unites us across the vast distances of rural Queensland.... And yet a survey of AgForce members found only 11% of respondents had more than 50% coverage of their property. The lack of reliable coverage creates practical problems for those living in the bush. AgForce has been vocal and active for many years to improve these vital services, working collaboratively with members, rural communities, other rural groups, Government, and service providers. This week, Stand With Regional Queensland will continue this fight. In particular, we will be raising awareness of the concept of Natural Capital and the broad range of ecosystem services like carbon sequestration, bushfire risk reduction, biodiversity, and native species protection that primary producers can provide to an even greater extent, with the appropriate financial and non-financial support. You can find out more about what we are pushing for in our Strong regions for a strong Queensland election policy platform. https://okt.to/xTK1y8

02.01.2022 From today, everyone crossing the Queensland/New South Wales border needs to complete the new online Queensland border declaration pass. The agricultural class exemption we worked on with Government still applies, but now, instead of showing a printed copy of the letter to police at the border, you will need to apply online for a class exemption pass.
