25.01.2022 Finding the PERFECT Pair - WHITE DENIM SHORTS So after squeezing my somewhat voluptuous derrière in to soo many pairs of short white shorts and scrutinising my bootay, belly and thighs in each and every one of them, it’s safe to say I’ve got the high and low on finding the perfect pair of white denim shorts I’ve taken the guess work out of this huge (ass) task and here it is... **JEANS WEST... offer some great jeans for slimming the waistline and have a great skinny leg alternative. **UNIVERSAL STORE is the denim destination, well so I was told!! offering Nobody Jeans which are made is Melbourne Aus!!! and have equal parts elastane and denim. They really do fit like a glove and the elastane allows ease of dressing. They mould to your body and feel like a jegging. **Alternatively A.Brand Jeans (stocked at David Jones-Queens Plaza) show a lighter wash and feel like traditional crisp denim. Stiff to pull up but eventually warm and move with your body and hone a real mum jean look. **Zara has so many lengths and washes and buttons and pockets and stretch oh my!! They’re pretty inexpensive but I feel they may not last as long as some of the other brands. **Cotton On does denim well with the Sky High Cuffed ($10) and the High Rise Flashback ($17.47) this season. Plain, simple, classic, chic!! And if I wasn’t on the hunt for the perfect white pair, I would have bought the Paperbag Short in Tea & Musk ($39.99) in a heartbeat!! **SPORTSGIRL has the Linen Belted Short ($39.98) Button Front Shorts ($39.95) and MY PICK... the Ecru High Roller Shorts or what I like to call them the Booty Shapers. For the bargain price of $29.98, these are for those who want an instant butt lift, your legs to look as long as days and the option to wear them long or cuff them up... And umm who doesn’t want that!! It’s a no brainer and you’re welcome I was also informed about zip locking jeans and putting them in the freezer. This process apparently helps to kill germs, reducing the need for excess washing and actually maintains the longevity of the jeans. Crazy right!?? Who would have thought I’d learn so much on this merry adventure. And I hope you do too. Happy hunting X

24.01.2022 Conscious Consumerism The One In, One Out Switcharoo These days I’m more aware of the demands we all place on the fashion industry. I’m focusing on buying less and borrowing more, opting for organic and recycled materials, up-cycling old clothing, and cold washing or air drying clothes and textiles. ... I am constantly looking for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, and lean towards buying less and borrowing more. I hand pick accessories to complete any outfit and mindfully construct a look from head to toe. I’ve found that adding layers and dimensions to each and every outfit, creates coordination, simplifies morning dressing and reduces unwanted excess. I use local and online dress hire services, which offer a great range of garments at an affordable price and are quick to deliver; I frequently scourer racks at clothing swap events; And when I do buy, I look to fill the gaps in my existing wardrobe by replacing key pieces or essentials which no longer fit or flatter. And that’s where the old switcharoo comes into play. I have made a decision or rather challenged myself to gift, donate, sell or throw one item, for every new item brought into my life. If I purchase a new white tee, the old tee must go. If those must have burnt orange heels come home with me, then the older worn pair must fly the coop. It’s actually rather easy to do and when you have limited wardrobe and storage space like I do, it’s a no brainer. Why hold on to items which no longer fit or fatter and are occupying prime real estate in your home and wardrobe. And to guilt you into starting, watch this doco http://about.abc.net.au/war-on-waste-its-time-to-step-off-/

But don't be tempted, stay frugal, calculated and shop with a plan (or a personal stylist ). Focus on building your functional capsule wardrobe, by filling the gaps with classic and timeless silhouettes; Buying key on trend pieces which accentuate your best features rather than impulse bargain buys; And opt for good quality fabrics and natural fibres over chunky ...synthetics, to effortlessly transition in to the cooler months with ease and flair. To help you stay focused, follow this simple checklist to complete your ultimate Autumn / Winter wardrobe. You’ll be lust worthy all season long!!

23.01.2022 Conscious Consumerism || Fashion houses, retailers, and up and coming designers continue to join the sustainable and ethical bandwagon, launching international initiatives focusing on Conscious Consumerism. Such initiatives help us become aware of the demands we place on fashion, encouraging us to buy less and borrow more, opt for organic and recycled materials, upcycle old clothes, and cold wash or air dry clothing and textiles. ... I constantly look for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, and lean more towards buying less, borrowing more and creating different outfits with the same pieces. I use local and online dress hire services, that offer a great range of garments at an affordable price and are quick to deliver; I frequently scourer racks at clothing swap events; And when I do buy, I look to fill the gaps in my capsule wardrobe and replace key pieces and my essentials which no longer fit or flatter. During my Personal Styling Sessions, I encourage others to be more mindful and reassess their own demands on the fashion industry. I suggest clients donate and/or purchase secondhand clothing (in good condition), reuse old textiles as cleaning rags, and where possible recycle / upcycle old textiles to reconstruct new garments. I assist clients to build a capsule wardrobe, which mix and match to incorporate all aspects of their lifestyle. I suggest hand picking accessories to complete an outfit and encourage mindfully constructing a look from head to toe. Adding layers and dimensions to each and every outfit, creates coordination, simplifies morning dressing practices and reduces unwanted excess. 23.01.2022 Shop Online Like a MF Boss I’m not usually one for shopping online I would much prefer to walk into a store, chat to the store stylist, feeeellll the fabric, explore the fit, bend and stretch, and move in the garment. I like to read the care label and understand where it was made, out of what and how to care for it. Details you just can’t get from buying online. However times are a changing... and with online being one of the only option at present, 17% of us are tur...ning to online to shop, with the majority of males opting to click a few buttons, to make their purchases. So to help you navigate the online shopping world, without compromising on the in store experience, I suggest the following tips and tricks. 1. Buy from Australian made and owned business. It will be quicker for your items to arrive and derr supporting Aussies for Aussies is a no brainer. 2. Support local stores and boutiques. Again we’re in it together and these little guys have an amazing selection of interesting pieces and only sell limited editions. So you won’t have to stress about someone’s wearing your outfit on that Zoom or Houseparty call. 3. Scroll down and read the product and fit description. Aussies know fabrics, and the more natural the fibre the more breathable and purposeful they’ll be.this is the key for curating a functional and long term wardrobe, especially if you’re currently travelling from your bed, to the kitchen, to the couch, to your home office. 4. Families yourself with the exchange / return policy as not everything is as it seems. And if you’re unsure, ask!! 5. Finally, remember the kind of service you receive, so you can thank them and return to their store, when we return to the outside world. And if you need a gal pal to accompany you, and guide you through the chaos, drop me a line. Happy shopping

22.01.2022 ST PADDY’S St Patrick's Day is a Christian celebration commemorating Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. According to legend, St Patrick used the three leaf shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people and it stuck. Over time, this iconic plant became the symbol of Ireland and was seen on almost every Irish item, organisation, building and creative work. ... The shamrock symbol was worn during celebrations, parades, concerts, festivities and was soon a customary practice during the Lent period. This emerged over time and resulted in patriots wearing green, many hues of green. This season fern, pistachio, olive and mint tones are rich and abundant, so you won't have to leap too far to find that pot of gold or those fancy threads for this special day. Step out of your usual tones and try something new Here are some inspro pics below

19.01.2022 Basic Bisch || Like every other basic bisch in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, I like to choose comfort over couture (most of the time). And despite most of us returning to work, working from home is the new norm, pushing business or corporate attire aside for the athleisure, luxe loungewear, smart casual, and what I like to call basic bisch.... These trends are more relevant than before, as we’re opting for more comfortable alternatives to the stuffy, rigid and structured corporate pieces we’re used to wearing However, this does NOT mean we have to choose comfort OVER chic. We do NOT have to sacrifice structure, designer, fashionable, and timeless pieces for comfortable yet ugly (or should I say aesthetically displeasing). Comfortable clothing can also be functional, stylish and uber chic This means you can utilise existing pieces from your current wardrobe, and experiment and haveeeee some fun I suggest you grab your active shorts with an oversized blazer. Throw on some ankle boots and a pair of statement shades. For a structured and utilitarian look, think metallics, embellished buttons and chunky accents to finish off you look. Wear a pair of lounge pants with a fitted tee and chunky slides, (think the waffle pant and ugly sandals vibe) Half tuck your tee or knot at the back to add some edge and flare Pull on a slinky silk shift with a cashmere sweater belted over the top. Add your favourite ankle boot and a blazer, for a more feminine touch. Keep your eye out for an oversized boxy shacket (shirt / jacket) in a neutral tone or muted hue. Pair with a straight jean, fitted tee and chunky accessories. Nothing says I work from home, and I just don’t care like this little number And, when all else fails, grab a pair of sports leggings, a white tee, a bucket hat, Reebok trainers and a cross body bag, to really say I’m a basic bisch This is the easiest, most comfortable and uber chic ensemble you can throw on, even if it’s wash week

18.01.2022 Shopper Personas || Yesterday whilst chatting with a client, she shared with me, that she just simply doesn’t mix and match. She goes to a store and buys the entire ensemble (showcased on a mannequin, seen online or shown in a look-book). She told me there are a number of reasons behind her buying style, but ultimately she doesn’t have time to THINK about what goes with that!! ... This conversation got me thinking about buying styles and the multitude of shopper types I see every single day. For example *Emily the entire ensemble buyer, *Mickee the mixer, *Dorothy the designer snob, *Sally the sustainability scourer, *Betty the bargain hunter, And *Confused Karen I’m sure we can all see ourselves in one, if not two of these shopper types). So which one are you??

17.01.2022 Down Time || I’ve always thought, I had a lot of hobbies; I was always on the go, rushing from work to clients, to an event, to a class, to the gym, to meet friends at a cafe, ticking things off my to do lists, and following a pretty rigid schedule. I barely spent any time at home, except for the odd occasion where I’d plan some down time or a bit of self care However, for the past few weeks, I’ve had a lottttt more down time and have really enjoyed slowing down the pac...e. I’ve managed to stick to a fairly normal routine (which I love, yes I’m an A Type Personality and like structure ) connecting with colleagues, clients and friends, plus I’ve read books, listened to podcasts, binged on the latest Netflix series, baked (a bucket load of treats) visited the art gallery, journelled, flicked through mags, walked along the river, and spent time in/on my business, many of the things I’ve put off for way too long. So although, I’ve been able to do most of the activities I would usually do, I’ve taken real joy in each and every one of them. I’ve been so present being and creating, and despite the fear and uncertainty around me, I’m so so grateful to have to opportunity and freedom to do anything I want to do What are you grateful for??

13.01.2022 Happy International Yoga Day, I what better way to spend the day, than in my activewear!! My active wear, like many of us, has slowly infiltrated my capsule wardrobe. Jeans have been replaced by tights; tops and blouses overlooked for excel tanks and tees; and prime real estate (the top drawer) which was once occupied by lace bras, now sprawl with sports bras. ... Now, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when active wear is so damn comfortable, prepares us for any (fitness) obstacles thrown our way, and the sheer act of wearing active wear has been proven to increase our likelihood to get up and get moving!! and that’s so important this time of year. However, we could up the ante and channel our fellow street style sisters... ~Swap your runners for a sneaker, or everyday shoe, think Nike Air Max or a pair of Connies. ~Team a bomber jacket and truckers cap, or even a chambray button up with your full length black tights. ~Throw on a sports jacket with a pair of OTT earrings or statement clutch. ~Pair a fan pleated skirt with your fitted active tee. Or even ~Tweak just a few of your go-to active outfits and you'll be ahead of the pack, on and off the running track!! https://youtu.be/CYRENWT8lz8

12.01.2022 Daily Mantra I’m an early riser. Always have been; Always will be. Some days I wake before 7am, get up, stretch (because I feel like an old lady climbing out of bed ) go for a walk or head to the gym, have breaky, and caffeinate my way through the morning. Other days, I have so much creative energy pulsating through my veins, I simply wake, stretch and get straight in to it. ... And today, was one of those days. I felt inspired, So I simply had to let the energy flow. I punched out a number of blogs, scheduled numerous posts, had a client call, plus I was able to catchup on a few online classes I have neglected of late. And by golly, it felt good. It was so much more productive and fulfilling to work when I felt inspired, motivated and full of energy, rather than forcing myself to work just because I thought I should. What’s your work strategy?. Do you push through or only work within your hour of power??

12.01.2022 I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING to WEAR Is one of the most common fashion crises modern women share, and is becoming more and more apparent, despite having overflowing wardrobes and access to an ever emerging fashion industry. I hear this statement a lot from my personal styling clients, yet when we delve deeper and further explore their style and wardrobe, several underlying beliefs surface. ... Some don’t know what style they have or want, so they find themselves buying pieces on trend, on the spot, and get too caught up with the trend. In turn they own a string of random pieces which don’t mix and match. Others don’t know how to dress for their body shape or colouring, and again purchase colours and styles that don’t accentuate their assets, nor work with their existing wardrobe. Some just over complicate their style, and worry about what others think. They feel they can’t wear their lifestyle pieces to work, separating their wardrobes, instead of creating one functional, fun and cohesive one. So if you too find yourself saying I don’t have anything to wear!! dress to impress by taking inspiration from the runway, and introduce key trend pieces into your exiting wardrobe. This way you can mix and match complete outfits and utilise exiting key pieces. Learn to dress your body, the shape, size and colour it is now. Don’t worry about others’ opinions and wear the clothes and accessories that light you up and make you feel fabulously confident and chic. And create and build a fun and functional wardrobe that is enjoyable to wear, versatile for your work and lifestyle and is organised and easy to maintain. That way you’ll rarely say I don’t have anything to wear!!. For more in depth image and wardrobe styling please contact [email protected]

12.01.2022 Trend Forecasting - Pre Fall As Christie Sutherland put so succinctly ... "The seasons are colliding, mornings are darker, and the days end earlier". This season wardrobe inspiration strongly resonate with the coming seasons and encapsulate influences from all corners of the world. ... Colours, textures and exquisite detailing are inundating stores and the plethora of choice is unimaginable. Warm, neutral tones, such as burgundy, khaki, olive green, charcoal, slate and blush pink, are some of the season's most popular shades. Luxurious textures including Velvet and Felt are lush-worthy, and will instantly magnify romantic undertones this season. And detailing like Embroidery, Lace and Ruffles are a welcomed (feminine) addition to any ensemble. Add some of these pieces to your exisiting wardrobe, introduce impulse statement pieces and continue to build a strong capsule wardrobe... Relevance and diversity; You've got it!!

11.01.2022 Headbands, Scrunchies, Scarves, Pins... If it goes on your head, It’s back Welllll they made a resurgent a wee while ago and they’re HERE TO STAY!! They can be found in the most unusual places, come in a plethora of colours, patterns and textures, and are the PERFECT addition to any Summer outfit. ... These old faithfuls from yesteryears are full of FUN and give any outfit a 90s vibe. Hair pins are perfect in creating a smooth and sleek look. Layer these babies to add a little edge, or simplify for a more put together look. Trying to tame that tangled mane. Barely braid your hair and secure a statement headband on the top of your crown. And you’ve just nailed I rolled out of bed looking this good. Not feeling it, try amping up your outfit with a colourful scrunchies stack. Move over bangles and bracelets, the scrunchie has your spot!! Perhaps wrist jewellery isn’t for you, tie a scarf around your messy low bun. Attitude. You’ve got it!! Just remember, have fun, play with accessories and experiment with head pieces, to create a look which puts a little pep in your step!!

10.01.2022 How To Master The Carry On In just under a week, I should have been jet-setting West. Ahhh Paradise (in the shape of a tropical oasis in the middle of the desert) here I, umm don’t come Nevertheless, I’m going to share with you, how to pack carry on, despite the time of year, places and activities you would be visiting ... Most of us have a beautifully curated everyday wardrobe, even if we don’t want to admit it!! So we should have a thoughtfully curated wardrobe away from home. This ensures you have a smorgasbord of options for any potential event or venue. By coordinating the entire contents of your suitcase, all pieces mix and match, which makes it easy to create an outfit on the go, or elevate your look from day to night If you consciously pack, more than an hour before your flight!! you can save space, time and money. I suggest rolling all of your pieces and stacking them neatly in their designated corner with their fellow items, pack intimates inside ziplock bags and stuff them into shoes and hats, and place all jewellery into a drawstring bag and store it in the side pocket. I use the outside pocket for (smelly) shoes and the interior ones for hair and makeup By packing like this, you don’t have any unnecessary items, and have a plethora of options for different occasions. You have an organised and fully accessible wardrobe (on wheels) making it much easier for quick wardrobe changes for the duration of your trip. Plus you have saved space, reduced your bag size and the risk of excess baggage. Who wants those unnecessary costs at the start of your trip!! I surely don’t!! I’d rather a few extra cocktails Pina Coladas anyone??

10.01.2022 As the first official week of Spring draws to a close, I’m a little underwhelmed. I was looking forward to the warm, sunny weather, long balmy nights and a plethora of birds and butterflies filling the air. But I guess, 2020 has been consistently underwhelming, and constantly doing the exact opposite of what we think should occur.... Nevertheless, Spring (fashion) has sprung with a plethora of new colours, trends and fashion, as well as fresh, beauty products in store. Spring inspired colours have been featured on the (virtual) runways, magazines and on the streets. Rosy Pinks have been worn with floral prints and winged eyeliner for a feminine look. Apricot and Peach are the go to colours for this season's Spring matte finish. Fuchsia hues have been seen with minimal makeup and upbeat trends. Coral Red colours are a must have staple and a popular favourite to complete a luminous look. Not sure how to wear it, take inspro from the best...

09.01.2022 Colour || Colour has the power to evoke emotions, feelings and help enhance non verbal communication. Colour is used to highlight femininity or masculinity. Calm or chaos. Strength or power. ... It can be used as an incredible tool for wardrobe planning and style. In fashion, we mix colours in an outfit to create a pleasant appearance, to make a statement, and elicit feelings, which deeply resonate with the wearer. Colours are used to darken your skin tone, drawing attention to flaws or wrinkles, whereas, harmonious colours will enhance your natural beauty, allowing you to appear healthy and fresh faced. Colour can be used to communicate or alleviate a mood, and therefore is an essential skill for dressing and communicating efficiently. Want to know more, just ask!!

07.01.2022 Travel Style || Why is it that when we travel we all look a little homeless chic or rather just a little scruffy?? Is it because we choose comfort over style? Ease over effort?? Or is it merely out of necessity that we just throw on the last clean pieces from our suitcase ... As I sit and stare at what others have chosen to wear, I question?? ... has our dressing practices really changed that much?? Where are the ladies who have carefully curated their outfit, matched their accessories and even combed their hair? Are we a dying breed or am I just being a little pedantic, sitting comfortably in my thought out, effortless and even clean travel outfit?

07.01.2022 TREND ALERT Hello YELLOW + Rosey GOLD Whether it's yellow, mustard, ochre or citrus, with rose gold, metallic, gold leaf or blushed pink, colour clashing has never been so fun!!... Buttery hues and grown up golds elevate your 9-5 to after dark in just a jiffy!! Gold glamour reaches new heights, with sleek beading, intricate embellishments and hand pressed yellow pleats can be glammed by simply adding a gold heel or leather clutch. Perhaps turn this combo casual, with rose gold shorts, delicate leaf jewellery and a flowy silk shirt. There's something so sleek and feminine about blending these two colours. Sooo however it’s done, just have fun!!

06.01.2022 Kaleidoscope Of Colours || As the first official month of Spring draws to a close, I’m a little underwhelmed. I was looking forward to the warm, sunny weather, long balmy nights and a plethora of birds and butterflies filling the air. ... But I guess, 2021 has been consistently underwhelming, and constantly doing the exact opposite of what we think should occur. Nevertheless, Spring (fashion) has sprung with a plethora of new colours, trends and fashion, as well as fresh, fun and feline free beauty products in store. Spring inspired colours, such as light lilac, baby blues and soft pinks, have been featured on the (virtual) runway, in magazines and on the streets. Sage, olive, emerald, and petrol scatter the stores, and form a beautiful background for the big sleeves, floral prints, tiered ruffles and delicate, hand-cut lace seen everywhere. Where, soft drapery and sophisticated tailoring form sweet, feminine looks. A kaleidoscope of rich neons, matte finishes, and winged eye makeup are the basis of everyday looks. In contrast, apricot, peach and warm lemons, are a popular favourite to complete a luminous, edgey look. Not sure what look will suit, take inspro from the best and experiment. X

05.01.2022 Brassieres.... For those who know me, you would know it’s nearly impossible for me to find good quality and affordable brassieres, sports bras and crop tops. Call them what you will, but those form-fitting, supportive, somewhat delicate and oh so feminine bras which house my voluptuous bosoms, have been hard to come by, and the bane of my existence for the past 3 years. ... After several big brands and smaller speciality store disconnected my size, I turned to buying online. This was pretty disastrous, resulting in further frustration, receiving incorrect sizes and a less than desirable rash!! But low and behold, I’ve finally found a few old brands which have restocked my size, new brands which cater for me and the stores which stock them all!! My brassiere stalemate is officially over. And my favourites are: ~Heidi Klum Intimates ~Elle Macpherson Body from David Jones Queens Plaza (http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/m20/en/davidjones) ~Stella MacCartney Lingerie ~Pleasure State ~Heidi Klum Intimates from Drawer No 1 (http://www.drawerno1.com.au) ~Own brand lace bralette from Cos So I hope this points you in the right direction, alleviates some of your own frustrations and makes bra shopping that little bit more enjoyable!!

02.01.2022 Packing 101 In just under a week, I’ll be jet-setting north. Ahhh Paradise here I come I’ve visited several time before, and am usually found in my togs, denim shorts and a pair of havies, and only have carry on, despite the time of year, places or activities I visit ... This time, however, I’m celebrating a week of matrimonial bliss (with my two beautiful friends and their 40 odd guests) with sunset cruises, formal dinners, a beach party and an odd cocktail around the pool So my denim shorts and havies just aren’t going to cut it I have thoughtfully curated a wardrobe away from home, to make sure I have a smorgasbord of options for any potential event and venue... and all which covers my usually exposed derrière I have coordinated the entire contents of my suitcase.
