24.01.2022 Class Levels Level 1 and Level 2 are now on the timetable instead of Foundation and Mixed Level, but the classes have not. Foundation is Level 1 and Mixed Level is Level 2. If you can't make the time that is best suited, it DOES NOT mean you can't come to the other level, the teacher will always modify for you.... https://www.agoyyoga.com.au/classes

24.01.2022 Why do you do yoga? Did you come to yoga because you wanted to be more flexible or strong or fit? Perhaps you heard it would help you relax and destress.... All of these things are byproducts of yoga, yoga is not for health, health happens because of yoga. If we move beyond these transitory benefits, we can arrive at the values of yoga. The Yamas and Niyamas are at the roots of yoga. How we condult ourselves in the world and for ourselves. When we begin to explore the Yama and Niyamas our yoga practice shifts from a purely physical/health expereince on the mat to transform our lives off the mat. You can read more about the Yamas and Niyamas in the Yoga Journal article. https://www.yogajournal.com//live-your-yoga-discover-yamas

23.01.2022 This design is sold out but there are more pretty patterns and a few bolder ones for the blokes.:) Order your bolster here before they all sell out. Stock is moving fast! https://forms.gle/KAiFKFD1Qct77RaX8

22.01.2022 When we bulk order our bolsters we can get them for less. Ordering a single bolster online and paying the freight makes it really expensive. Have you abandoned the checkout because you can't justify $130 for a single bolster?... Our bolsters are $95, I know they are not cheap, but they are beautiful, and this baby will last you a very, very long time. So don't miss out on this bolster order. I'll only a once a year event:) And I've only ordered 20. Place your order here https://forms.gle/4eJHcR4EYFJ9fVaP8

22.01.2022 Did you miss your morning Sunday yoga class? We also offer a 4pm Vinyasa class. The pace of this class is perfect for lazy Sunday afternoon. https://www.agoyyoga.com.au/classes

21.01.2022 Need a small $ gift for a friend that won't break the bank and won't end up in a landfill? Isn't it the way that you want to buy a small gift for a friend or colleague, but anything below that $30 mark is usually plastic and S#!T. We have a $29 Gift Voucher which gives your friend 7 days of unlimited classes at Agoy.... This is for people who have never been to Agoy before and who you think might like to give it a try and benefit from it. Affordable, and environmental. Great right? Just remember when you purchase the pass, put the friend's name and email in the details so that when they come to the studio the pass is waiting under their name. The pass doesn't activate until they come for their first class, so no need to worry about expiration dates. https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/passes/105900

20.01.2022 It might seem weird and too personal to declare to your yoga teacher when you come to class that you are menstruating, but please do for your benefit. When we are in the menstrual cycle the body is going through change that it sometime obvious and othertimes not. You might feel tired, irritable, cramping etc etc and to varying degrees.... The point it to recognise that at this time of the month our body needs different things and if we change some of our yoga practices we can actually reduce these symptoms and improve our overall health. Ideally, tell your teacher when you come to class if you are in your cycle so they can offer you alternatives. But I also wanted to share with you some rules of thumb. Don't do inversions like headstnad, shoulder stnad, handstand Don't do unsupported backbends Don't do closed twists that squash the abdomin Take it easy and only work to 50% of your ability Take more support than you usually would Do lot's of supine psotures and forward bends with head support Don't be shy, tell us when you come to class so that when you leave you feel better for what you have practiced not worse.

20.01.2022 We are days away from Christmas. Holidays plans are up in the air with COVID outbreaks. Stress sets in with an unknown for the next few weeks.... The kids are on holidays The house is chaotic. What to do? Go to yoga. It's calm, peaceful, clean and no decisions to be made. Come to class and we will tell you what to do for the next 60 minutes so you can just surrender to what will be. If we can do this on the mat, then there is a chance we can also practice this in life off the mat. Classes are for all levels from 21 December 25 January. The teachers will tailor the classes to who is there. So while we have a reduced offering of classes, come along, don't worry about the level. And you can even bring the kids. Most important keep up your yoga to keep down the stress and overwhelm.

20.01.2022 Strength-Based Yoga - what is that anyway? It's a yoga sequence that focuses on a particular part of the body so that you can target and strengthen that body part. It will bring your awareness directly to the focus body part (this week CORE)... Feel that part of the body like you never have before Learn some tips on what you can include in your home practice to work particular body parts. Feel sore (in a good way) and stronger for it. Every Wednesday at 6.15am in November ONLY. Join Zsusi, register here https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/classes/6980271 Go into the draw to win a prize if you attend every Wednesday at 6.15 for Strength Yoga in November. Make it a goal.

20.01.2022 I usually like to give a little teaser for my Saturday 8am Iyengar Class. I work with themes in my practice and what I learn on the mat in my own practice I share with you. Having said that...... My Saturday morning class is usually a bit of a wild ride. You never know what you are going to get and most of the students who come know this. They are all in... they are ready for any curve ball, I might throw them. That's what yoga teachers us, not to dodge curve balls, but to face them head-on. To come up against what challenges us, look at in the face and make a choice. So this post was supposed to encourage you to come and try a class with me on Saturday, but perhaps have done the opposite:) A good teacher doesn't teach what the students want, rather what they need! Spoiler, tomorrow is twists. Are you game? See you tomorrow. Make sure you register last week there were only 2 spots left. https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/classes/6416131

18.01.2022 Class Levels is an interesting topic for teachers, a big question for students, and a constantly shifting horizon. How do you know what level class you should be in? At AGOY we offer FOUNDATION, GENERAL & INTERMEDIATE classes.... It might seem obvious which level you should attend. If you are new with little or no experience try Foundations. If you have some experience and are confident try General. If you have been doing it for ages try Intermediate. This is a good guideline, however... Your mindset has quite a bit to contribute to how you might go to any level class. If you are having a bad day and lacking confidence you might be better in a Foundations class even if you have years of experience, perhaps you are you and fit and have not done much yoga but confident in your body, then you may do just fine in an intermediate class. My point is... I recommend trying all different level classes and all different teachers all the time. Yoga is teaching us to know ourselves and to be objective. Saying I like this or I don't like that is not objective. However, saying "I am not feeling 100% myself I will do Foundations today" is not only showing intelligence and objectivity but also indicates the ego is humble. This is the work of yoga. Next time you choose class, be mindful of your choice. Be objective, be truthful and I dare you to be courageous and try something different. My teacher Abhijata Iyengar said the other day something along the lines of "we have courage when we are not concerned with success or failure." If you are curious to read more on this, click the link below. https://integralyogamagazine.org/patanjalis-words-samadhi-/

18.01.2022 Tailored Class I have had knee surgery, a disk bulge, bursitis in my shoulder, tendon strain in my ankle, migraine, and probably other things I’ve forgotten. This is over a period of 18 years.... And look at me today:) I give all the credit to doing yoga. I wasn’t always able to do postures like this one. I recall many yoga classes up the back of the room repeating a few limited postures, I wanted to pull my hair out with frustration, but by doing the right thing and with restrain, I learned about my body. I learned what was good for it, what caused pain, and how to heal. Would you like this opportunity? To take it slow, to trial and error and learn what works for you, to create a series of poses that make you feel 10 years younger. You can in the Yoga for Injuries Class. Book here https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/passes/109325

18.01.2022 You get 1:1 Physio, Chiro, Massage etc but have you ever had a 1:1 Yoga Class? We offer them at Agoy and they are really quite different to attending a regular class. In a private class we can address needs specific to you and your body.... Whether you are suffering from knee pain, anxiety, back pain, depression, tight neck and shoulders or you just want a sequence that is tailored to you that you can practice at home, we can help. I (Kate) have had my fair share of personal experience with injuries such as disk bulge, bursitis, knee surgery, anxiety, hamstring tear, ligament strain, PMS. I have had a lot of experience dealing first hand with injuries. With the pain, the recovering and rehabilitation and I have used yoga to help with them all. Actually it is yoga that keeps me healthy and sane when injuries strike. To book a private class email me at [email protected] with 3 times that would suit you for a private class and I'll get back to you quickly. What do you need help with in your practice? i'm here to help! Book a private here https://www.agoyyoga.com.au/classes Kate

17.01.2022 It's an amazing time of day to be awake... So why is it so hard to get out of bed? Just think about how good you will feel after you have done your yoga practice, that should help you jump out of bed and get to one of our early morning classes on Tuesday with Suzi or Thursday with Haruka.... I will never regret getting out of bed and practicing but I will regret staying in bed. REGISTER HERE https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/classes

14.01.2022 We have noticed that there are Christmas parties for everything. Work Christmas Party, Daycare Christmas party, Volunteers Christmas Party, you get the idea. Don't worry, Agoy is not having a Christmas party...... We have something way more exciting planned that trumps hor-derves and free booze, (more on that later). What I'm wondering is... With all the Christmas parties to attend probably at around 5:15pm, when are you going to do your yoga? Not after the hor d'oeuvres and wine right? We want to help you keep a good balance in life during the silly season and have a couple of ways to support you. 1. Schedule in your yoga classes, don't miss them because of Christmas parties... think about how you feel after doing yoga and how you feel after a few wines and hor d'oeuvres. The choice is obvious, right? 2. Download these 12 Yoga Sequences so that you can do a practice at home if you can't make it to class because you have another, essential, not to be missed Christmas party:) https://yogabranches.lpages.co/12-sequence-pack-downloadab/ 3. Do yoga classes online with Kate. Find out more here. https://member.yogabranches.com/courses/membership Have a great week, moderate your hor d'oeuvres intake:) P.S Stay tuned for the details of our New Year event (NOT Christmas Party) to officially acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we practice yoga. This will be part of the New Year Workshop but open to everyone. Kate

12.01.2022 A chair is my favourite yoga props at this time of year. It so hot outside, we are so low in energy but we want to do more than flop over bolsters when we come to a yoga class. The hotter we are the less energy we have to do active yoga, but the less we do the worse we feel.... With a chair you can have a deep practice without over exerting. Rather you will booste your energy and leave feeling, stretched, like you had a good work out but not exhausted. Tonight’s restorative class will be focused on how you can use a chair for restorative practice. Register now only 4 spots left https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/classes/6874056

12.01.2022 I did Zuzsi's Tuesday 6.15am class this week and enjoyed it so much. Actually, it totally inspired what I (Kate) taught on Tuesday night:) She started the class talking about balance. How we get balance in our lives. ... Practicing balance on the mat is a good place to start. Not just balancing poses, but a balanced practice. A practice where we can equally make a physical effort and find space, room to breathe, and surrender in the poses. If we can do that in a challenging yoga pose, then we have a better chance of moving through adverse situations in life with a bit more ease, right? Zsuzi will sub Verity's class on Friday at 9am, so if you just love a class with Zsuzi or have not done a class with her yet, here is your chance. Register here https://agoyyoga.punchpass.com/classes/5377207

11.01.2022 This is my teacher! The women! Abhijata Iyengar, the grand daughter of the man next to her BKS Iyengar who developed the method of yoga we call Iyengar Yoga. This is the instiute in India where I go to study every two years.... What can I say about Iyengar yoga? I can only tell you how it has transformed my life. It is a methodical practice, which suits me... I'm a methodical personal. It's wildly exploratative and inventive and there is no end to the creativity that BKS Iyengar has encouraged his students to take. It is thorough and detailed and requires a curious and inquisitive mind. But with a good teacher is made accessible to anyone who want to do yoga. That is what was behind the BKS Iyengars approach... How to make it accessible and bring it to the world for anyone to do. Come try a class with me, I look forward to sharing the magic of this practice with you. No two classes of mine are ever the same! Monday 9am Monday 6.30pm Tuesday 5.15pm Tuesday 6.30pm Saturday 8am Saturday 9.30am Kate

10.01.2022 Deep sleep Good digestion Lots of energy Fit, strong and flexible Less moody... Less PMS More balanced life These are the things I noticed when I started doing yoga regularly. Yoga works deep, there is so much more to the benefits of yoga than strength and fitness. But we have to be honest with you, these benefits are felt when you practice regularly. Attending a yoga class once a week and you will start to feel better, but it's when you start to do two or three classes a week that the benefits are profound. That's why we offer Studio Membership, can I tell you it's nothing like Gym Membership. It's the cheapest way to attend classes regularly and when you sign up you want to make the most of your money, so you attend regularly. The truth is, life throws us curveballs, kids get sick, we need to go away and the last thing you want is to pay for yoga classes you are not attending. With our Studio Membership, you can cancel anytime (no minimal lock-in period) You can pause your membership when you are sick or go on holidays and you will find yourself doing more yoga and feeling the benefits. Check out our flexible Studio Membership options, the more you come the cheaper it is, but if you can just commit to once a week we have you covered too! http://agoyyoga.com.au/prices/
