21.01.2022 Colour is what we need

15.01.2022 Add colour to the garden using dianthus, nasturtium, daisies, alyssum, lobelia, French lavender, rosemary (don't forget there are trailing varieties!), petunias dwarf roses, pansies and many more. Dead-heading is important to keep plants from seeding and prolonging flowering time. Regularly feed with a liquid fertiliser, such as Charlie Carp or Powerfeed. A thin covering of mulch will retain moisture but allow the few drops of rain we get to penetrate into the soil. Always feed before mulching a garden bed!

13.01.2022 Spring time and once again rain is in short supply. Water your garden deeply rather than sprinkling the soil - do you know how much water is dispersed from the hose? As a rule of thumb: a developed rose bush will need a bucket of water 2x a week! How long does your garden hose with nozzle attached take to fill the bucket? Measuring the time required will determine how long you need to stand at the spot when hand-held watering a plant.

11.01.2022 Red Amaranth, edible either young leaves as micro-greens or seeds added to muesli or ground as flour for baking
