25.01.2022 Want to claim to up to $10,000 towards the purchase of livestock management technology? The SA Government’s Red Meat & Wool Livestock Agtech Adoption Rebate provides livestock producers with a rebate up to $10,000 for technology that supports Precision Livestock Management (PLM). For example, a stand-alone set of sheep/cattle yards is not eligible for the rebate, but a 3-way draft that you purchase to add to your (own & owned) eID tagged sheep and panel/stick reader is an ...example of eligible activity. Other eligible activities include on-farm water monitoring technology. The rebate can contribute to: 75% of costs associated with training, consultancy and/or advisory services up to a total rebate amount of $2,500 (excluding GST) 50% of costs for eligible precision livestock management technology up to a total rebate amount of $7,500 (excluding GST), of which up to $2,500 (excluding GST) can be used to pay for pregnancy scanning of ewes if you have never scanned before/only wet dry in the past. To be eligible for the rebate, producers must participate in a one-day Livestock Enterprise Planning session and develop a 'Farm AgTech Adoption Plan'. Only technologies that have been identified as high priority actions in this Adoption Plan will be eligible for funding. The one-day workshop will be held on KI in December, but you must register by Friday 6th November to be included. 09.01.2022 Our final day of the Kangaroo Island Farmers' Tour to Pinery started with a half day seminar facilitated by the wonderful Belinda Cay from AgCommunicators and i...ncluded powerful learnings and case studies from Chris Heinjus Pinion Advisory, Tammie Menzel MGA Insurance Group and Ben Marshman from Bartleville Grain and Fat Farmers. Guests took the opportunity to consolidate their learnings to help build future resilience into their farm enterprises; focussing on the topics of Farm Design, Insurance, Health & Wellbeing, and accessing independent professional support to assist with rebuilding. We then popped over to Yalumba Wines for a uniquely special wine tour with Wine Ambassadors Lisa and Helen and a spontaneous scenic tour courtesy of bus driver Peter from Corston Coaches. We wish our farmers safe travels as they return to KI. #farmershelpingfarmers #communitysupport #kangarooisland #pinery #recovery #hope BankSA Foundation Grain Producers SA Agricultural Bureau of South Australia SA Recovery Members of the Adelaide Plains SACWA Branch South Australian Country Women's Assoc. 05.01.2022 : ( /3) Jamie Heinrich, a sheep producer from Kangaroo Island, is retiring from the Livestock SA board after four years of ...service at this year’s AGM. Jamie shares some of his proudest moments and things he is excited for in the future of the SA livestock industry. ? It’s been great to watch the progression and growth of the organisation over the years. Livestock SA really stepped up during the 2019/20 summer bushfires, particularly on Kangaroo Island. Livestock SA helped to support community members in an urgent time of need, organising fodder and volunteers to come to the island. This was great to see as a producer on KI and it made me proud to be a part of the board. #Livestock #SA

02.01.2022 A silver lining to emerge from the fires is a once in a lifetime opportunity to eradicate feral pigs from KI while their numbers are low and while vegetation is... still recovering. A comprehensive feral pig eradication project is now being delivered in partnership between PIRSA and the KI Landscape Board. Matt Korcz is the PIRSA Feral Pig Coordinator and our own Brenton Florance and Dave Jirman are leading on-ground works. The eradication is covering the fire-scarred western end of the island - feral pigs are being targeted with shooting, trapping, and baiting on public and private property. If you’d like to help eliminate feral pigs on your property, the program can provide you with free: Traps Baits Feral pig control training Advice To borrow feral pig control equipment or receive other support to control feral pigs on your property, call the KI Feral Pig Coordinator, Matt Korcz, on 0438 117 513 or email [email protected] If you see feral pigs on your property, report them immediately using the FeralScan app (links below) or call Matt.
