In a yarding of 17,000 new season Lambs more lighter weight store Lambs came forward and they met increased demand with majority sold between $125-$155. Specialist Ballarat producers paid to $199 for second cross Lambs to shear for the New Year markets. All kill Lambs sold to a dearer trend of $5-10 to top at $246 for extra heavy suckers. Trade inquiry spiked again with the increased capacity allowed to be slaughtered after Sunday’s announcement. Heavy new season Lambs $187-$246; 650c-720c Av 675c +$10 Trade new season Lambs; $163-$204; 690c-770c Av 720c +$5-8 Store Lambs $122-$199 +$5 Old Lambs $165-$243; 530c-620c av 574c +$5 Merino Lambs $17-$240; 580c-620c Av 590c Firm A total of 8,049 Sheep Sheep yarding sold to a dearer trend. Quality was again good with Merino Wethers coming forward in larger numbers to top at $234 per head. Trade and light Sheep sold to a dearer trend of $5. 12.01.2022 This week in Horsham we yarded 3200 new season sucker lambs, 800 old lambs & hoggets and 800 sheep. Today our suckers topped at $233 for a beautifully presente...d pen of heavy 2nd Cross lambs estimated at 32.5 kg cwt. This week our heavy lambs sold $10 - $15 dearer. Trade suckers were again heavily sought after with strong competition from restockers chasing neat 2nd x lambs with weight. Our lighter traditional restocking lambs were firm to $10 dearer with lots of competition. Our old lambs topped at $200 with an impressive line of heavy merino hoggets making to $205. Today our heavy sheep sold to stronger competition which lifted our sheep job across all grades. Our heavy sheep topped at $226 for a pen of extra heavy, wooly merino ewes. Heavy sheep were $20 dearer and our trade and light sheep sold $10 - $15 dearer. Rams topped at $156. Next week Driscoll McIllree and Dickinson will be 3rd sale. Best of the heavy Xb lambs topping at $218 with other heavy... lambs making between $182-210, trade lambs $168-180. A large percentage of the lambs offered were feeder/store lambs and they made from $149-163 on better feeder types and $130-$146 on most store lambs with light and immature lambs from $110-128. 05.01.2022 This week in Horsham we returned for our first sale of 2021. Agents drew for a much larger yarding than the final sale of 2020 with 12,200 lambs and 1200 sheep.... Today we had a much larger yarding with 4500 lambs and 500 sheep. The majority of lambs being penned now are shorn lambs coming off stubbles at export weights. Our sale topped at $254 for a pen of lambs estimated at 34 kgs. Trade lamb buyers stepped in to heavy lambs to secure supply paying up to $222. The dearest part of the sale continues to be lambs being purchased to feed on. Today restockers paid up to $186 for ewe lambs and $174 for lambs to feed on. Sheep were met with stronger competition to open up for the new year. Today our top pen of sheep made $237 for heavy merino ewes with a big skin. Hogget wethers also sold to $212. Driscoll McIllree and Dickinson are 3rd Sale next week. Contact your local DMD Agent for further information.
