25.01.2022 We would like to introduce our new project: RACE Gippsland, a three-year project funded by the Victorian Department of Education and Training. RACE Gippsland will be supported by the Gippsland LLENs, GippsDairy, VegNET (@Hort Innovation) and TAFE Gippsland. RACE - Gippsland will deliver a range of hands-on, interactive and engaging activities to primary and secondary students focused on building student capacity in STEM, digital technologies, agribusiness, manufacturing ...and food and fibre concepts. The first two events for RACE-Gippsland are coming up and if you’re a teacher, student or working in the food and fibre industry in Gippsland we’d love for you to attend! 23.01.2022 Students from The Rockhampton Grammar School got a crash course from CQUniversity Australia's Nick Corbet in how to use the TSI system at Belmont Research Station yesterday. The grass is lovely and green for the Belmont cattle following recent rain - hopefully there is more to come!

22.01.2022 Agr-tech teaching module available online Women in Agri-tech program participant Mel Campbell from Orange High School developed a teaching module around ‘Ask Bill’, a web based software program that helps producers make decisions. Ask Bill provides timely and accurate predictions of sheep wellbeing and productivity using weather, stock and pasture information to sheep producers across Australia. ... One of our Women in Agri-Tech alumni Emma O’Shea from Faith Lutheran College has developed a teaching module so you can introduce data collection, processing and decision making to your class. Well, Women in Agri-tech 2019 program participant and Winnaleah District High School teacher Keeley Lester has done the hard work for you. Keeley’s module is online now and will walk your class through a practical experience of how precision ag works and why farmers use it. ... If you answered ‘yes’ then you’ve got the most important resource for Chelsea Dahlenburg’s ‘Measuring pasture and FOO’ teaching module. ‘What is FOO’ I hear you ask?! FOO is ‘Food On Offer’ which measurement farmers use determine how many cattle they can graze on a pasture and for how long. ... Farmers use a range of methods to determine FOO including some pretty cool satellite mapping technology. This technology can be used on any pasture including your school oval!
