25.01.2022 How can rock minerals help my garden? Fertilising your garden with rock minerals can help revitalise the soil by: -Providing slow release trace elements -Increasing microbial life... -Helping build more soil -Increasing nutrition to plants -Helping increase water retention in the soil -Reducing the need for chemical fertilisers -Supporting increased pest resistance -Increasing yield -Being safe to use on native and exotic plants The use of rock minerals is most effective when mixed into the topsoil with some organic compost. It is best practice for rock minerals and compost mixtures to be incorporated into the top few inches of soil if possible, however it is also effective for minerals to be broadcasted or spread by hand if you use a no-till method of gardening. 24.01.2022 Sulphur is essential for plant growth and varies in composition across soil types. Some soil types, such as sandy soils with low organic matter receiving high rainfall, are more prone to sulphur deficiency and other soil types, such as clay, can reduce sulphur absorption potential among plants by keeping the element bound tightly within its structure. Sulphur deficiency promotes similar symptoms to nitrogen deficiency in plants and is often detectable on younger leaves fir...st; symptoms can include: - Delayed plant maturity - Small, stunted plant growth - Leaves taking on a light green to yellow tinge known as chlorosis - Reduced nodulation of legumes Facilitating mineralisation through microbial activity converts sulphur from soil organic matter into sulphate, making it readily available for plants to utilise; this helps plants to form important enzymes and essential plant proteins to assist health. Sulphur is required for the production of chlorophyll, a green photosynthetic pigment found in many plants, and it also plays a crucial role in seed production and producing fruit and vegetable flavours, particularly in garlic, onions and mustard. 24.01.2022 Healthy soils have physical, chemical and biological properties that maintain environmental quality, sustain biological functioning and promote plant, animal and human health.

22.01.2022 Sorghum is an important forage crop for livestock production in Australia as frequent drought and high summer temperatures reduce forage production from pasture. Although there can be significant benefits and weight gains that can be achieved in having livestock graze sorghum species, there are some important things to consider in order to successfully graze this forage. 22.01.2022 Significant production benefits can be achieved by providing stock with supplementary sulphur in times of green feed and transitioning seasons. Sulphur supplementation can be particularly beneficial when stock is grazing rapidly growing grasses, cereals on sandy or acid soils, forage sorghum and Sudan grasses. One of the key functions of sulphur is being an important detoxifier that helps the body to get rid of prussic acid (high levels of prussic acid have been detected in sorghum this year). 21.01.2022 Happy National Agriculture Day! Today we celebrate the everyday extraordinary efforts of our farmers and all that is good about Australian agriculture. Thank you to our amazing Aussie farmers and agri-community! #weareaustralianfarmers #nationalagday #agdayau... Photo by Abbey Williams

18.01.2022 With almost 90 years of experience of grazing the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range, the Page family have found it essential to provide minerals for their stock. The page family have been supplementing cattle with MegaMin Extra Phosphorus during the green season after they identifying a deficiency with cattle chewing bones and underperforming during the transition of Spring too Summer period. Robert Page shares his journey with AgSolutions and the benefits of using the MegaMin and NatraMin product ranges.

11.01.2022 Beat the BUZZ this Summer with MegaMin Extra Sulphur Supplements! Sulphur is considered to help reduce internal and external parasites such as worms, cattle tick, lice and buffalo fly. Research from South America has now proven that sulphur can increase stock resistance to cattle ticks. In these trials (Villar, 2006), there was a substantial increase in the level of natural resistance to ticks for cattle fed additional sulphur.... 11.01.2022 MegaMin SulPhos - High Sulphur and Phosphorus Supplement with Macro and Trace Minerals MegaMin SulPhos provides broad spectrum macro and trace minerals as well as additional sulphur and phosphorus. Sulphur is important to assist with rumen health, is associated with supporting external parasite control, is a key component of wool and is an important production tool for stock grazing forage sorghum. Phosphorus is one of the most important minerals in animal nutrition and is essential for energy metabolism, appetite, efficiency of feed utilisation, bone growth and fertility. 11.01.2022 Replenish fluids and electrolytes after exercise! When a horse sweats, water and electrolytes including sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium are lost from the body.

09.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them. Lest we forget.... #remembranceday

07.01.2022 Return on investment with Phosphorus Supplementation Most Australian soils are deprived from parent materials which are low in Phosphorus. Phosphorus plays an important role in the conversion of feed into energy and is a key nutrient required for fertility, milk production, and bone growth of young stock. In the following video, Gary Zerner discusses how to maximise your return on investment with phosphorus supplementation in the deficient country.

07.01.2022 MegaMin has done a great job in our Phosphorus deficient country and has also ensured that our stock maintained good condition last Winter. Craig & Peter Edwards manage the 9000 acre south- east Queensland operation that runs over 1100 steers and 300 breeders. The string of properties are a combination of native and improved pastures where steers are grown out for the jap bullock market. AgSolutions performed soil tests as part of their pasture improvement and forage progr...am and this also provided an insight into livestock nutrition requirements. Last year our native grasses hit a severe protein drought in winter so we used MegaMin protein blends for our breeders until the season broke. These supplements did a good job on our cows and enabled them to utilise the dry fodder. Read the full story online at http://bit.ly/Craig-Edwards

06.01.2022 This Summer is going to be a scorcher, and dealing with extreme heat is going to be a growing concern for horse owners. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can result in heat stress, heat stroke and issues such as dehydration, colic and muscle spasms. To help avoid the above issues here a few management strategies to consider. Obviously, horses must have access to adequate shade to provide relief from the sun and if a horse is stabled, fans and mist are a great way to ...help keep them cool. The horse’s work-load should be slowed down with work taking place in the cooler parts of the day if possible. Make sure that tack is removed as soon as the ride is finished and hose the horse down on completion. Clipping horses that have a long hairy coat is also a great help to keep them cool. Along with these tips, the following is an example of what can be done nutritionally to help horses through the heat of summer. Find out more tips to managing your horses this summer on our blog http://bit.ly/SummerHorseManagement

04.01.2022 Australia is well known for producing high-quality wool and is regarded as among the world’s best. The quality and quantity of wool produced is an important determiner of income received by wool producers. The macro mineral sulphur plays an important role in wool production. In sulphur deficient diets, supplementation improves performance by enhancing bacterial protein synthesis in the rumen and improving the amino acid balance (Morrison, 1990). Significant production benefits can be achieved by providing stock with supplementary sulphur in times of green feed and transitioning seasons. Our 'Sulphur Supplementation to help Wool Production' article focuses on how appropriate nutrient intake and, in particular, mineral nutrition can help wool production.
