23.01.2022 If you are using a concentrate feed, make sure you read the labels carefully! Some feeds are labelled as being ‘grain-free’ but sometimes when you read the ingredients you might find ingredients that are derived from grains like pollard and bran listed. These feeds really should not be listed as grain free and are not recommended for horses with grain intolerance, laminitis and other metabolic diseases.

I would also like to add that if you have a horse that suffers from equine metabolic syndrome (laminitis, insulin resistance, obesity, cushings etc) it is best to avoid honey all together as it is comprised of mainly sugar.

13.01.2022 When pasture quality is poor a cheaper way to help top up vitamin A and E levels is to give your horse 1-2 carrots (carrots are rich in beta carotene which the body converts into vitamin A) and a human vitamin E capsule per day.
