06.01.2022 South Australian Update There has been some communications circulating about the future of Certificate III Glass and Glazing at TAFE SA that have many of you understandably concerned about the future of training for our industry in SA. We wanted to assure you that we are working hard to advocate (much of it behind the scenes) for the Glass and Glazing Industry and ensure a positive outcome for both students and employers. At this stage there are still discussions to be had w...ith many different parties to decide on the best outcome for Glass and Glazing training and AGWA is playing a major role in these discussions to ensure industry is not overlooked in any decision that is made. To date we have had multiple meetings with the Minister David Pisoni and his representatives the Department of Innovation and Skills SA the key stakeholders of TAFE SA and other educational stakeholders interested in the future of training for our industry. The association has been working with the State Chapter and key industry leaders to ensure optimal outcomes for industry. I can update members that there is another meeting occurring this afternoon with many of the stakeholders mentioned above to chart a way forward and we will be sure to update you with any confirmed changes to the delivery of the course for 2021 as soon as something has been decided. In the meantime the Minister has assured us that delivery of the Cert III Glass and Glazing will continue in South Australia and that students will NOT need to travel interstate to complete their apprenticeships. We will continue to engage with all key stakeholders to discuss the issues at hand and what this will look like for the industry. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact either of us. We will be in touch again soon. Take care and stay safe Clinton Skeoch (CEO) and Melissa Baker (National Training and Safety Manager)
