25.01.2022 Lots of people have rediscovered their love of exercise during this COVID-19 pandemic with so many people out walking and riding their bike. So if your bike needs a service to get it running smoothly again, support your local bike shop like I did today at Cycle 2 in Brisbane St where Phil has got mine running like new.

23.01.2022 Great to see the Launceston Waste Centre in Remount Road is now reopening tomorrow after I asked the Council's CEO about when this could happen during last Thursday's Council meeting question time.

23.01.2022 A great day for the official opening of the Launceston Tramway Museum's new track at Inveresk, performed by Mayor Albert Van Zetton. Congratulations to President Butch Mackenzie and all the Tramway volunteers who put so much time and effort into keeping our tramway history alive. A surprise was to find Deputy Mayor Danny Gibson staring on the screen inside the museum playing the role of a tramway Inspector.

23.01.2022 Happy to say that all Councillors supported this important initiative.

23.01.2022 Busy Sunday morning, helping with the Holden car run registrations with my Rotary club before helping SLCD & Tamar NRM with "Clean up the Catchment" at the Kings Meadows Rivulet where we recovered 7 shopping trolleys, 5 bags of rubbish & 4 bags of recycling.

22.01.2022 A great day yesterday volunteering as the MC for the first MC Walk + Fun Run to be held in Launceston. Over 370 people participating whilst raising more than $22,000 to help fund research into MS and assist people with MS remain as active participates in the workforce.

21.01.2022 It's sure been a busy first year on the Council. Interesting to see the range of diverse and interesting things we get involved in each year.

19.01.2022 Join me in attending this first Tomorrow Together event, A Resilient City symposium at QVMAG at Inveresk, I'll be hosting the Q&A session in the late morning session.

19.01.2022 Have you seen something that needs attention from "the Council"? If so, try the Snap, Send Solve app on your smartphone. I reported this via the app on the 24th of December, ( yeap Christmas Eve!), it was fixed by the 17th of January. Works for all utilities Taswater, any Council, NBNCo, Dept of State Growth etc. Give it a try next time you see something that needs attention.

17.01.2022 Great to spend the day on Tuesday at Symmons Plains with the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) with Grade 10 students from Brooks High School and Campbell Town District school. This program helps to educate our youth on being safe drivers and passengers in cars on our roads with the theme of "My life: My choices". www.rse.org.au/ryda

17.01.2022 Very happy to be a part of the Council who unanimously approved such a comprehensive package to help our city through this COVID-19 pandemic. For those who just fall "outside" this package, the new "hardship rules and application form" will be available on the Council website from next Wednesday.

16.01.2022 I've downloaded and registered for the COVID Safe app as I'm confident the way it collects, stores and releases the information can only be used to track my contacts in a way that will help stop the spread of this virus and nothing else.

15.01.2022 Proud to participate in the Rotary Club of Central Launceston "Walk for Suicide Prevention" led by President Scott Towns and St Andrews Caledonian Band today as we marched from Royal Park to UTAS Stadium to raise awareness of this very important subject on a sunny winters day.

15.01.2022 It's great to see this local business's web site up and working. Speaking with Andrew P this morning, he tells me the store was a recipient of one of the Level 1 Council C-19 e-commerce grants and looks forward to being able continuing this iconic Launceston menswear store's digital journey into the future.

15.01.2022 First things first, Stay Home, Save Lives.

10.01.2022 Do you have a great idea for something in Kings Meadows? If so, here's your chance to put your idea directly to Council and have an opportunity to win a great prize for doing so!

09.01.2022 Interested in having your say on how the city may look into the future? If so, please join me at Seaport tomorrow for a chat as a part of the second installment of the City of Launceston Council's Tomorrow Together community engagement program.

08.01.2022 Today I joined fellow Councillor Paul Spencer & GM Michael Stretton in taking a new Nissan Leaf, a fully electric vehicle for a test drive. In my opinion, electric cars like this will become more common place over the next few years as it drives just like a petrol powered car, only without the fuel bills and the carbon emissions.

07.01.2022 Great video from Tourism Northern Tasmania about life in Northern Tasmania under the COVID-19 restrictions.

04.01.2022 Another step forward... https://www.examiner.com.au//city-of-launceston-council-/

02.01.2022 With the increase in the number of people exercising due to COVID-19 restrictions, this is a timely reminder to keep a safe distance from others.

02.01.2022 Great fun at the Bicycle Network Tasmania's e-bike expo this morning. The opportunity to ride an ebike was too much to ignore. Now I think I want one!

02.01.2022 Today I attended the opening preview to the new exhibition at the QVMAG, not something I'd normally do but I was just blown away. Four themes, my photos don't really do it justice, so take a free tour and see for yourself from this Saturday 10.00am but open until late 2021.

01.01.2022 Well done Mona Foma. King Ubu performance in the Cataract Gorge on Friday night was enjoyed by thousands of locals and tourists alike in such a wonderful setting. Recent changes to the lawn areas make this an ideal location for a stage in the future.
