21.01.2022 You've got to do it. It's the law now.

19.01.2022 A recession on a per capita basis is something that shouldn't be ignored

19.01.2022 We've been through so much in the past 5 years with our little one. After 18 surgeries it's so nice to see her work through her challenges and go to school. Running a business with a sick child has not been easy, but we've taught each other a thing or two about perseverance. Whatever your struggles are, we are here for you.

18.01.2022 Frustration is a good motivator to review, change and improve parts of your business. If you want to improve, enjoy the process of being frustrated.

16.01.2022 Sales in a client services/labour based context is as much about going into good deals as it is walking away from bad ones. Unlike product-based businesses, profitability in client services is not about adding top line revenue and letting the rest take care of itself. In client services, your time (and your staff's time) is a big variable to the cost and quality of service that you can provide. Protect your time. Protect the quality of your service. Get your pricing right an...d the profitability will take care of itself. If you're a C player and you want to become a B player or you're a B player wanting to become an A, stop pricing your services based on your competition. They're probably basing their pricing on another competitor anyway. Pricing services that way isn't a commercial decision, it's a decision based on a hope that enough revenue will come in to cover the expenses and have something left over. If you want to have a sustainable and profitable service-based business, walk away from deals that aren't going to compensate your business in a way that's going to allow you the time to deliver services to your clients and be able to pay and train to your staff to the standard that you want. Let us know if you have any thoughts on this topic.

16.01.2022 No surprises from RBA today. Cash rate unchanged at 1.5%. https://www.rba.gov.au//rba-board-min/2019/2019-02-05.html

16.01.2022 How would you answer this question? This is how I did: 1. Health. Had cancer and my 5yo daughter has had 18 surgeries. Don't underestimate how much health can derail your life. 2. Family. They can either make life a pleasure and be your greatest source of strength or they can be a misery to be around. 3. Time. You only have so much of it.... 4. Cash. If you don't have it you can create it even if it's just through your own labour. 5. Fame. There's no shortage of people who haven't handled fame well. And I'd rather have a small handful of meaningful relationships than a lot of superficial ones. See more

15.01.2022 Treat your job like it's your main hustle until your side hustle has really become your main hustle.

15.01.2022 This has got to be a stressful time for landlords and tenants alike. Many tenants have either seen their incomes reduced through reduced hours or trade and unfortunately, some have lost their livelihoods altogether. The flow-on effect is that landlords are now under pressure not only from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic but from government intervention that will see a 6-month moratorium on evicting tenants from both commercial and residential properties. https://www.aheadfornumbers.com//a-hold-on-evictions-for-r #covid19 #coronavirus #tax #business #stimulus #government #ausgov #inthistogether #CoronavirusAustralia #MyPandemicSurvivalPlan #landlord #tenant #property #investment #rent #financialstatements #SupportSmall

12.01.2022 If someone makes any suggestion in any context about what to do with your superannuation ask them whether they are 1) licenced, 2) competent to give the advice and 3) a fit and proper person. If no to all 3, don't take it.

10.01.2022 You can't outsource you so learn to like what you've got.

09.01.2022 Interesting fact: For all of the clients that we do bookkeeping for (with the exception of one - waiting on info), all Mar 2019 BAS's have been drafted and sent for signing. Lodgement deadline is not until 27 May 2019. Getting bookkeeping done right the first time = SPEED + TIME SAVED

06.01.2022 Surprise Charmaine. I've just nominated you. If Charmaine has meant anything to you or your business it'd mean a lot to us if you could nominate her at the link below. I (Daniel) think she would be a deserving winner. Here was my submission: Charmaine was brave enough to leave her last job after whistleblowing on her boss for ethical reasons. In doing so she gave up an opportunity to buy into the practice that she worked for and had to start her business from nothing.... In 2013 she had her first baby who had her first surgery at 36 hours old. That baby is now 5 and has had 18 surgeries. There were times when Charmaine was balancing being a mother and literally running the business from her laptop in the intensive care ward. 13 months after her daughter was born, the server crashed (putting pressure on productivity in the business) and a month after that she had her second daughter. It was a surprise as the doctors said that she would not be able to have another child without IVF. Two babies, a server crash and 8 or 9 surgeries in 14 months was not fun. If you want to see her tell her story, Telstra did some videos featuring her story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ahclKcSYg Charmaine is the most resilient person that you’ll meet and I hope that she’s considered for this award.

05.01.2022 Start. Have a win. Have another win. Fail. Start again. Have a win. Have a win. Have a win. Fail. Start again. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Fail. Start again. Win. Win. Win. Win. Help someone else start. Help someone else start again.

03.01.2022 We work with a lot of businesses in different industries and while the nuances of each business and industry are different, there are common themes to the pain points that business owners have. The most common ones from client service businesses are: "I don't have time"... "I'm too busy focussing on my business to focus on X" "My clients won't pay X" "I can't find good staff" "I'd be better off getting a job" "I don't feel like I'm getting ahead" Pick your battles and decide what type of business you want to have and whether that model is going to be sustainable. Too many businesses try to be all 3 - good, cheap and fast and they don't get traction with any one of these attributes becoming a strength so they end up being a vanilla version of every other business they're competing against. Decide on what type of business you want to have and why your business exists. It will make it so much easier to decide on your pricing, who you want to have as your customers, who you need to have on your team, how you do your marketing and the systems that you implement to achieve it. (We found this pic on a community page that we're apart of. We'll give credit as soon as we find out who created it.)
